    Waffle Hut, Paducah

Slow, slow, slow because someone was on break or hadn't yet arrived for their work shift on this Saturday morning. My omelet and toast took 30 minutes to be prepared. They were super friendly about it and perhaps this is outside the norm, but 30 minutes. Other than that... Waffle Hut has a wider menu than the House people and they have soup, which the House people don't do. Several creative options for omelets and biscuits and sandwiches. So there is more here than the other place. I sat at the counter which gave me a great opportunity to watch my breakfast (and several others) being prepared. It's a clean operation. My omelet and toast was hot and of course fresh. Well stuffed with the chopped steak, onions, peppers and cheese. Delicious and it kept me going for several hours until I got to Nashville for dinner. I would definitely return to the Waffle Hut but I'd check the orders over the grill to make sure they're not too backed up for a long wait. [Review 16299 overall - 119 in Kentucky - 1805 of 2021.]

For breakfast not a bad stop to get a bite. The service was decent and the omelette was tasty and big. It's small so if you got a group it's not ideal for a large party.

Stopped in this morning, walked over from the RV park, got seated right away, order taken as soon as coffee was placed on the table, and breakfast was served in less than 10 minutes! VERY CLEAN FAST DELICIOUS We ordered eggs and bacon, and ham, no sides. Delicious, eggs were cooked exactly as ordered, bacons was UBER smoky, the ham was salty and crispy on the edges. Wait staff was delightful. Great little mom and pop place,

Good omelette and service. Nothing fancy, but good road food. Friendly service. Try the signature super omelette.

But my husband went with the Three Little Piggies (bacon, ham and sausage gravy in an omelet) with a side of bread pudding mini waffles (these were AMAZING, especially with the cinnamon butter), and I ordered a couple of sides (bacon, hash browns and corn nuggets) which were all tasty and not overly filling. Be mindful if sitting in the back room because the floor has some unusual slopes and cuts, so if you're sitting in a booth watch out when you step down. Would come here again for breakfast in Paducah!

There's nothing warm and cozy about the room-- just signs with smarmy platitudes like "if you don't like my cooking, lower your standards." Har har har. I was in for breakfast and chose a meat/eggs/side combo. The side choices are four different kinds of potatoes. I chose hash brown casserole because the other three items were fried, but what I got seemed a lot like fried hashbrowns with cheese stirred in. The eggs and ham on my plate were coated in what seemed like fake yellow butter substitute. Eggs were not fully cooked; the whites were runny. in all, not a great experience.

We ordered two sausage egg sandwiches;one wheat one white. we only got wheat bread.Over medium eggs, one with hashbrowns one with American fries.. The sausage on the sandwiches was falling apart one sandwich add one egg the other one had two pieces. One order the food was cooked just as ordered. The other two were not cooked to request.. the eggs were not cooked and runny That person could not eat the eggs. We asked for three orders of wheat toast and two white. everyone got wheat bread. If the waitress would've smiled or at least been cordial, it might've been a better experience. Couldn't get a smile out of her for nothing. My water. A slight brown color that wasn't noticed until after I drank almost the whole glass. I guess for five of us to eat it was only $47. Very cheap service terrible cleanliness I give it a two. Overall experience 1.1.

I'm finally having a chance to review our visits to Freight House back in November!…read more My husband and I took a little trip to Paducah, and the main reason we chose this location for our vacation was Sara Bradley's restaurant Freight House. We both are fans of "Top Chef" and since her restaurant is within reasonable distance of home, we planned a trip around it. In fact, we made reservations for two nights in a row, to take in as much of the menu as possible! Between the two different days, we tried a number of appetizers, entrees and desserts. If I were to do this again the same way, I would do one day of apps and dessert and one day of entrees, just to spread things out a bit. What we ate: - Fall pickles: I enjoyed this, with the bit of chili heat, especially the cauliflower - Stuffed Mushrooms: I love mushrooms, and these blended creamy, sweet and hot with a filling of cream cheese, berry BBQ sauce and smoked jalapeno - Pistachio and herb chevre cheeseball: a fresh cheese enhanced by nutty and Herby notes - Smoked bologna: my husband's choice; very meaty and there was a lot of it - Spicy beer cheese spread: a very Midwestern feeling appetizer with tasty veggies and crackers Entrees: -Shrimp and grits: my choice: comforting southern food with lots of flavor - Duck fried rice: his choice: rich rice offset by more delicate vegetables - Sticky ribs: my choice: the pumpkin spice and coffee liqueur glaze worked well for a cozy, wintry meal - Braised pork shoulder: his choice; served with beans and cornbread, this was another hearty, comforting meal with a Southern twist. Desserts: - Winter creme brulee: this was my favorite, flavored with mulling spices, orange and pomegranate We also enjoyed a seasonal sorbet and the fall spice cake. We had the same server both nights, Elizabeth, who was good at making recommendations, and also staggering the small plates on our small table so we wouldn't be overloaded. Chef Sara was in house the second night, bringing dishes to tables. The setting is relaxed, not overly loud, with moody lighting. Overall, we would certainly return to Freight House!
