Atmosphere - Like most of downtown Metropolis they are located within an old building. They managed to keep the charm of the bricks alive and well with the modifications they needed to run their business. Food Drink - Large mocha, the temp was just right for drinking. The drink was a little chalky in texture. Pastry - No sure what they called it, the receipt states Danish/Pastries. I could go along with Danish. They should label the goodies. The blueberries where great, the pastry was a little over cooked. Service - My cashier was blah. Like she did not want to be here. Maybe cause I was not a regular, she seemed friendlier with them Future - Maybe on my next business trip. read more

Still a great place to have a nice treat, though their ice cream selection was a letdown. All they had were icky sugary flavors like Superman and a couple of berry flavors--no chocolate or mixes. Their coffee came in handy, and I had no idea they offer sandwiches. The folks here are wonderful and had smiles galore even with all the people coming and going during Superman Celebration. read more

Super-excited about these Super-awesome goodies from @sissys_asweetshoppe in the Super town of Metropolis, Illinois! I know, I know, that was Super-terrible, but my goodies were Super-fantastic! Ok, I'm done being Super. Blueberry pastry, good old sugar cookie with icing, and a strawberry lemonade cookie. Yuuuummm!! All excellent, but I think the sugar cookie was my favorite. Sissy's has more than just mentally nourishing food sweets!), there is physically nourishing sandwiches and salads, too, along with coffee, but I was just interested in the baked items. Park by the Superman statue and you can walk a few blocks down Main Street to Sissy's, taking in other cool stuff in Metropolis before (or after) you get your sugar fix or other needs met. read more

The shop itself is cute. But cute only goes so far. Nothing special about the coffee and teas they offer. I was disappointed to find most of their products are bought from Sam's. I don't mind paying a higher price for quality baked goods that are baked in-house daily. With that said, Sissy's is not a bakery. The shop lacked the aroma of goods baking. This place rocks! It's accidental that we ended up in Metropolis and looking for a restaurant for breakfast and stumbled upon it. Their sweets are amazing, have not had like it before. I had almond croissant and wifey had walnut danish. We had to buy more to take home with us. Their coffees are better than Starbucks, at least the one we order regularly. This girl Brianna bakes them daily. We think she should supply coffee shops with it. If you are in the area, give it a try! No regrets here. Happy Eating! read more

Such a cozy coffee shop & bakery. Lunch options also available. Their homemade soup is delicious. Love the gooey butter bars too!

Really great variety of sweet treats, they also keep the Superman theme with a kryptonite lemonade and Superman shape cookies. I am pregnant and have been wanting coffee but can't do my espresso so I asked if they had hot cocoa and they even gave me the option to have it frozen blended since it is hot out! Definitely a great stop for coffee, fruity drinks and sweets! read more

LOVE this spot! Everything I've had here has been fantastic. Truly quality sweets and coffee/espresso. Extremely friendly employees as well. If I had to say anything negative it would be that the prices are a touch high, but you absolutely get what you pay for. They have a few tables inside as well as some outside seating on Market Street! I was driving back to Nashville after a weekend in St. Louis and decided to stop in Metropolis to take in the sights!! No Superman ice cream in Metropolis? C'mon. Give us that tri colored vanilla non sense for the children. FOR THE CHILDREN! That said, the praline pecan was pretty good. Solid stop, nothing too fancy. Not sure if the ice cream was made in house or not. Hindsight, I don't think the ice cream was the strong suit here. The baked treats looked solid. And the sandwich menu for lunch looked great. For ice cream I tossed it a 3, but I'd bet that rating would be higher for the other items on the menu. read more

I was working in Paducah, KY for the week but wanted to make a trip to Illinois for breakfast since I've never been to the state. Stopped at this place and it was so cute! Nicely decorated, really really nice employees, and the cutest desserts. I got the cinnamon bun and it was tasty and simple warmed up. Also picked up some peanut butter fudge for my coworker (and he loved it!) I recommend stopping by here if you make the trip to Metropolis because you're a block from Superman and can take a picture with this cute mural on the side of the wall! Spectacular sweets and great coffee. I've had some of the best breakfast pastries ever at Sissy's.

Had the club panini and it was delicious. The meal comes with chips and a cookie. I also got the Royale cookie and that was amazing! Great little lunch spot! Awesome variety of cookies, coffee, and ice cream. read more

Great place! A block-ish from Superman. So unexpectedly quaint on the Metropolis downtown strip. Got a drip coffee which wasn't as hot as I like and the woman working made me a new pot without hesitation when I mentioned it. Appreciate that. Unfortunately, I'm rarely in the area, but if I needed a decent cup of coffee, a place to meet a friend, or a pleasant environment to sit with my laptop and work (free WiFi) I'd be at Sissy's. read more

Sissy's is a local gem. I have had lunch there multiple times, had their bakery items and coffee. It's always fresh and always delicious. The service there is amazing as well. I have called for a pick up order multiple times and they quickly took down my order and it was ready when I got there. The store itself is so pretty and quaint. It is always enjoyable to go inside. We stop in Metropolis between Atlanta and Minneapolis (yes, we're like the Muppets - we drive!) We stopped here and it was great for our suburban family tastes. Completely adequate and charming. Not especially memorable, but I found the card in my purse and thought I'd mention it. Enjoy! read more

Went here for breakfast after checking out of the casino hotel, and I'm so glad we did. The bakery is impressive, offering baklava, cinnamon rolls (which I got warmed up with a scoop of ice cream on the side) and very, very good coffee. Even Starbucks doesn't blend their frappes this perfectly! Such a little gem. read more

Cute charming shop with fantastic and friendly service. Flavors are inventive and original reminding me of bakeries in here in Las Vegas. Overall atmosphere is welcoming.
