As far as road trip breakfast options go, few places compare to Bob Evans. I must have been to this particular Bob Evans location at least 20 times. The food is always fresh, the service is always friendly and the place is always clean. For those of you on the West Coast who are not familiar with Bob Evans, let me introduce you. Bob Evans is a couple of steps above Denny's and Waffle House, a step above Marie Callender's and on par with Cracker Barrel. In fact, in my twisted pancake-and-syrup dreams, I like to imagine that Bob Evans is married to Marie Callender, because they're kind of similar in many ways. Denny's could be their son, and they could all live in a Waffle House down the street . . . Are you still reading, or have I lost you completely? Bob Evans markets simple, down-to-earth country fresh food. I recommend Bob Evans for breakfast. I tried it for lunch once, and I wasn't impressed. Eggs, bacon and pancakes are kind of difficult to mess up. I always opt for Farmer's Choice breakfast, which includes 2 pancakes, 3 strips of bacon, 2 eggs and some home fries for only $8.59 (prices and participation may vary). Add a cup of weak coffee, and you're looking at $10 + tip. It's fast, easy, convenient and, most importantly, fresh. Bob Evans' pancakes are very good, but their specialty is biscuits 'n' gravy. 2 biscuits and a bowl of rich, creamy gravy is a great unhealthy way to complement your great unhealthy meal. Strongly recommended. It's a chain, so the decor is consistent across all Bob Evans locations (and I'm not ashamed to say I've visited many of them from Indiana to Maryland and from Michigan to Florida). The decor is that of a mass-produced generic country house with light wood accents, rusty cans, Mason jars and checkered curtains. It doesn't make you feel at home, but it does make you feel welcome. When I embark on a road trip, I always plan to have breakfast at a Bob Evans or a Cracker Barrel. They offer way better options and way better service than most other roadside establishments. read more

The pot roast dinner I had tasted good. However it consisted of shredded beef--no chunks! I ordered three slices of different pies to go. Whoever packaged the pie slices should be fired as when I got home---and opened the containers--the pie slices were in a sloppy mess. Bob Evans needs to use REAL whipped cream in some of their pies-and not a Kool Whip like substance. Real whipped cream would vastly improve the taste of their pies! read more

Passing through the area we stopped for dinner with my Daughters 8th grade class. They quickly sat our group of 20+ and provided biscuits and rolls. Always pass it on the way to Philly, so it was finally time to try it out. Came on a Friday night and it wasnt very busy. Prompt seating with lots of booths and plenty of seating when it gets crowded. Ordered the farmers choice breakfast. You get pancakes, eggs, choice of meat, hash browns and french toast! Only get it if you have a big appetite. I finished it but I was stuffed. French toast really hit the spot. No issues with the other sides. Breakfast/dinner also comes with biscuits. A bigger size than Cracker Barrels and has the same great taste, if not better. Nice assortments of drinks including my favorite peach tea. This place is very accommodating and efficient. The staff was on top of the coffee refills and ensured breakfast came out just right. Today's review also includes the customers. This morning I watched a man in his late 70s spoon feed his elderly wife. She had very little speaking capacity or interaction beyond the plate. The compassion as the table was balanced by the teenager at the same table farting over a dozen times. That kid needs to find bathroom before he needs to change his shorts. It's Sunday afternoon and your out driving around looking for a great place to have breakfast/lunch with your family. This place wasn't our first choice but we were hungry. My 8 year old son was starving so we ended up getting food here. There wasn't a long wait or anything which kinda made me think is this place bad or good? But anyways we got seated and the waiter came right away to get our orders in which was great. My review is pretty much about the food. So we waited about 20-30 mins before any of our food came. First my son got his chicken strips and fries. I don't understand how anyone would serve burnt, oily old fries to children you can clearly see a puddle of oil on his plate. That's what kinda of ticked me off. I told my son not to eat the fries and just eat the chicken which was fine. I didn't want to send the food back because you know nowadays people do crazy stuff. I had the "Whole Hog" meal which was okay. I didn't like the sausage patties they had a very strong aroma almost like perfume or something so I didn't eat that. Still just as good as 2 years ago. We went back for my son's birthday breakfast and we all loved our meals. I had the eggs benedict and a side of spinach salad and the candied bacon and it was delicious. My mm had some a roasted chicken meal and she enjoyed that a lot. I discovered this location on my way home to upstate NY. Since that time I would stop there whenever I could for breakfast. I understand because of Covid their hours have changed. On this particular date I arrived an hour too early. I have always enjoyed the food at this restaurant, so I sacrificed my time on the road to wait an hour for it to open. I sat in the parking lot listening to the car radio. I was the first customer to be admitted. The wait staff was friendly and courteous and took my order immediately. I waited almost twenty minutes for my western omelet and hash browns which arrived luke warm and soggy. Honestly had high hopes for this place given the reviews and photos posted. I ordered an sausage omelette and my girlfriend some banana pancakes. When I got the omelette it was practically an already cooked egg with sausage slapped in the middle and folded over, not even throughout the egg, more like pouched sausage in an egg. The egg wasn't even cooked well enough. The hash browns looked like prepackaged hash slapped on the grill and when eaten tasted like mush. The pancakes were super undercooked to the point where it was practically inedible and looked like it was microwaved. The bananas were glossy and absorb by the pancake. Even when bringing the food out the lady said "wow this looks disgusting." The waiter seemed to be the only waiter in the whole restaurant so we practically got our water when we got our food. On top of that the omelette and hash browns didn't taste good at all, practically drowned it in ketchup, salt and pepper to make it taste better so my money didn't go to waste. My first experience at a Bob Evans Restaurant was a year ago in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. I was floored and amazed at the service provided, the cleansiness of the restaurant and the yummy food. I told myself that once I get back to Philly, I must find a BE near me and I have and finally went yesterday, April 16, 2017. I was like a little kid in a candy store from the time I pulled up in the parking lot- to walking into the entrance of the facility - to taking in the calm atmosphere. The restaurant was clean, staff was friendly... even the customers were friendly! My food was hot and it was so so so so so so delicious and so fulfilling. I was just happy camper. It was just an overall friendly, clean, laid-back, but very professional and inviting environment. After finishing my meal and a preparing for payment, the gentleman who checked me out was very kind with my daughter and my son who asked if they could have one of the Bob Evans little stuffed animal puppies at the front counter. The cashier explained to them their names and told them to take good care of the puppies...just being over overall friendly and I appreciated that. The reason why I give it four stars instead of 5 is only because the bathroom didn't have toilet tissue. They were clean, but didn't have toilet tissue. Also, my waitress. She had a good personality but she kinda neglected us after we got our meal. She didn't check in with us, causing me to have to get up from my family and my meal go to the counter and ask for the items that I needed...which lowered her tip. Cool girl but she should work on checking in and every once in a blue moon to make sure that her tables were okay. But overall, I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEE Bob Evans and will go back to try their lunch and dinner menu! Came in here to try Bob Evans for the first time and was not disappointed. Was seated right away and my server Melanie was very friendly and kept checking on me throughout. The value for the food is excellent. Ordered the Boneless Chicken Breast (2) meal with 2 sides & truly impressed with the size of the portions. Chicken was very tasty & the mashed potatoes were delicious. I highly recommend anyone traveling in the Mount Laurel area to stop by here and grab a bite. You cannot beat the the bang for your buck. I'm a fan of Bob Evans. But I feel like over the years the chain has not stayed consistent. When we walked in we weren't greeted right away by anyone, typically there is someone standing there at the hostess stand to welcome you, and seat you but there was no one, and there were quite a few people that were standing around that appeared to be doing nothing but socializing. Now given they were quite busy, so the hostess could have been seating a table, but still to be greeted by someone would have been nice. When we did get greeted, we were told it would be about a 15 minute wait, and that it was. The restaurant itself was clean and spacious. When we go to our seat we were sitting for at least 5 min before we got someone to even come over and take our drink order, and when she came over she was moving so fast, kind of made us feel rushed as well. Since we had time to look over the menu while waiting for our waitress we knew what we wanted so ordered drinks and our food at the same time. Food came out in a timely fashion, hot and very well seasoned. I ordered the pot roast hash, meat was cooked well, got my egg cooked over easy, and that was cooked perfect as well. Waitress could have a been a little more tentative, came over occasionally to check on our table, but our water glasses did run empty and we had to ask her to refill them, same with the coffee. read more

The place was nearly empty so we got bright, cheerful service from Shaun - who is a lovely lady. She even decorated my kids hot cocoa with whipped cream. The restroom appeared clean but smelled horribly of old urine (Eew.). Normally this would be enough to give a place 1 or 2 stars - but Shaun's service is carrying my 3 star overall rating. Stick to coffee and breakfast foods and you'll be OK. Skip the greasy chicken strips (kids menu - a steal at $2.99 - but not if they make you sick), and also skip the pasta dishes. (Overuse of dried oregano.) My husband had a grilled chicken sandwhich which looked very good. If you ever read my other reviews, you may already know that I am not a fan of chain restaurants - but in a pinch this Bob Eveans will do. And hopefully Shaun won't be there long - she's studying nursing and is well suited for a care giving profession. She's terrific! read more

Given the options of a mexican place, a British pub, or Bob Evans, the best went with Bob Evan-- who knew? Off we went, down Fellowship, music blaring through the air, taking in the facelift on every corner at Fellowship & 73. Every corner except the one that is, it seems, permanent home to Bobby over there. Why? How? Only the old folks know. But my friend and I do rinky dink things like this, planted ourselves down for a genuine middle America experience. Only I guess we forgot that only breakfast is a safe bet when it comes to genuine middle America experiences. I ordered the chicken pot pie. This was dinner; I always defaulted to breakfast; I was being adventurous. My stomach would not thank me for my veggie attempt a la a stick of butter disguised as creamy sauce. And the best was just un-wowed to a startling degree by her veggie & pasta dish with alfredo sauce. Seriously. The waitress was funny. She ended everything with an automatic "thankyou." Would you like some more water? Yes, thanks. All right, I'll be just a minute, thankyou. ...Is Bob Evans based on grand manors with servants and maids who move around silently and whisper Thank You to their masters as they bow backward out of the room? This Bob Evans has been newly remodeled and is bright and clean. Donna was my server and she was perfect! She knew just when to stop by and check on me, even with her zone full of customers. The food was fantastic! I had the Pot Roast open faced sandwich, and it was delicious! Everyone was very attentive, professional, and courteous. Met one of the Managers (Vincent) to express my dining experience, good guy, and seemed truly interested in the feedback from customers. We left each other with a handshake and smiles. We chose Bob Evans over our usual Cracker Barrel and Perkins, both nearby, and boy, did we regret it. The coffee had a funky aftertaste to it, and we both ordered steak and eggs with toast. The home fries were the frozen kind that Ore Ida makes (but they tasted freezer burnt) and the steak tasted and had the texture of being fast-thawed. We asked for medium: both of our steaks were well, well done and had no flavor whatsoever. The one thing that stands out is SALT...the amount of salt on the steak and the home fries made me ask for a glass of water, which I quickly chugged. It has been 5 hours, and I am still trying to drink water to recover from the salt overload. The Cracker Barrel and Perkins are so much better. Live and learn. We will never go back. read more

Haven't been here since our last review so we were excited for breakfast here since it's a rare stop. We go 20 minutes out of our way to come and probably won't be back after today. Service was horrible. Should have known when our server apologized during our drink order for being slow. He said he had been there since 5. I looked at the clock that said 9:12 and said to myself, 4 hours of work should not make you that tired. I start my work shift at 4 in the morning and I can say I am not that drained by 9 am. Took about 30 minutes to get two breakfasts and about 15 minutes after that to get silverware from somebody who wasn't our server. We never saw our server again after he dropped off the food. It was so bad that we just took it upon ourselves to go find our check at the register and pay since we couldn't even get him to come back and give us the check let alone silverware or refills. read more

I am a fan of Bob Evans in general as a friendly place to get healthy food (or unhealthy but tasty food) but this restaurant deserves special mention. Its staff is generally long-timers (we only are down a few times a year and see the same smiling faces year after year) who are especially focussed on customer service. There is never a problem with a substitution or a special request, and the few problems we have had were corrected without question and usually with a stop-by from the owner/manager to make sure they made it right. My only complaint is they are SO popular that you can't get near the place on Sunday! :-) read more

beware: if you are ordering curbside there are NO parking spots that say this and according to the manager they "will not sit all day by the door to look for cars". Yes this is how the manager talked to me after I went in and inquired about my order. so there essentially is no curbside. Then I was told to pick my order up in the carry out section. After getting to work I opened up my order and it was wrong so I called and got the same manager who said "I don't know what you want me to do. Do you just want a credit?" I said yes and she hung up on me. I waited 45 minutes after the waitress took my order, the food was lukewarm when finally delivered. Bad experience! There's a passable breakfast awaiting you at Bob Evans, and you can get it relatively early because they open at 6 a.m. I could pretty much end the review there, but I'm wordy, and I have a bone to pick. I didn't even know there was such a thing as a Bob Evans restaurant before driving past it several years ago. The name was only a brand on a roll of sausage for me prior to that, and I wasn't really impressed when I got around to finally checking it out. Nor was I put off, though, so I kept coming back. It was close to my job, and a more fulfilling option than another McMuffin or Dunkin Donuts croissant sandwich. However, I often found the service wanting. On one occasion that pops out, I placed my order, and the waiter didn't write it down. It was kind of straightforward: country fried steak with three eggs sunny instead of two, hash browns, and white toast. Also, a side of bacon. I asked if he wanted to write it down, and he assured me he had it. The order came out with two eggs, home fries, and no bacon. I pointed out the errors, and he blamed the kitchen. I blamed him for showing off a skill he didn't have, and suggested he start writing things down. I was told it would be ten minutes for the hash browns, so I asked him to have the whole order refired. This was a problem for him, for some reason, and the solution was that I should start eating while I waited for my extra egg, bacon, and correct potatoes. This non-solution was obviously a problem for me, which was compounded when the manager got involved, as he too did not understand why I insisted on having a fresh breakfast served as ordered. I left $2 on the table for coffee and walked out, and I haven't been back since. To be fair, that was about two years ago, and those management and service issues have probably worked themselves out through attrition, but that is merely one example of several I could have given. Is shoddy service endemic to the corporate culture, or merely a regional problem in an area where it's admittedly difficult to find good people for certain wages? I don't know. Next time I'm in the area, I'll give it another shot and find out. Worst case scenario, I end up at a diner instead. read more
