Food was tasty, it was nice having a cozy fire. But we are still stuck with good memories of this…read moreplace when we were kids but sadly not much has changed since then - same bathrooms :/ That said, pretty solid value for your dollar. Went on a Sunday, had the southern fried chicken, kids had sliders. Kids eating for sliders 2/5 Friend chicken 4/5 (value is solid) and chicken was decent. Service 2/5, our waitress tried - just everything was super slow.

They were conceived and constructed more for my parents' generation (and I am 64!). But they have always had redeeming attributes. The food quality has been reasonably decent in the past and they used to be relatively reliable and consistent in terms of the overall experience they offered. They typically have nice facilities with a pleasant country store at each location. They had their place in our dining scheme because they can be found along the way to most places we travel within the US and we know what we are getting when we stop. They've traditionally been an especially safe choice when we have had my 90-plus-year-old father-in-law with us or we have had the grandkids (whose food repertoire is surprisingly much like my parents was). Having said this, I have noticed in recent years that the quality of service at Cracker Barrel, which used to be one of their best attributes, has declined. I suppose this an industry-wide problem, but when this was traditionally one of the best aspects of the chain, a noticeable decline in this area spells trouble. This issue was noticeable on this last visit to this location. While our waitress was pleasant and friendly, the food was very slow to come out (probably not her fault specifically), the order was not quite right and she kept forgetting to bring us sundries (extra napkins, etc.) for which we we asked and she said she would bring. She seemed to simply lack the energy (motivation) and organizational skills required. Our dinner stop took a long time because of the slowness and it took away from our experience significantly (we had a flight early the next morning and we just wanted to get to our hotel). As far as the food was concerned, the quality was up to expectations (and that is why I maintain a 3-star for the rating). I always get the grilled catfish as it is really the main dish on their menu to which I can look forward to eating. Their biscuits with honey are a favorite and they do their broccoli pretty well also. All of these were on my order and they tasted fine. My wife got the pork chops and, while she regretted forgetting to have them hold the gravy (the waitress did not ask), her dinner still tasted good to her. The prices here are not unreasonable as we can typically get by between $15 and $20 apiece after tax and tip (with water to drink). Their facility was fairly nice (even if it was cookie cutter) and my wife always enjoys looking around their shop. But in the grand scheme of things, it is just not a very exciting stop. If the service quality continues to decline, I don't see a lot of Cracker Barrel patronage in our future.

My husband got the Joanna's Skillet with over easy eggs and a side of pancakes, while I got the same thing but scrambled eggs. I think it might be better with over easy eggs, just because it gives you a little sauce to coat your skillet in. I don't know how they get their skillets to be so tasty, but it's fantastic and a must get when you're here. Pancakes are nice and fluffy, good amount of butter, and plenty of syrup. I think the price is around $15, but the menu is extensive, and way too much to post pictures. I do want to try the chorizo skillet and (maybe if I feel wild one day) the crepes. But it's really, really hard to not get the skillet. The food is always good here. Service was fantastic and always friendly. The place was cutely decorated with Christmas decorations. For the price, this is the best spot for breakfast/lunch.

The service was so quick & friendly that I even got excited about being there. The restaurant is well-lit, unlike other local diners, which was nice. Our server remembered the sugar-free syrup I ordered, which went a long way for me. My eggs were so fluffy and the bacon was plentiful & substantial. I haven't had such good bacon & eggs in a long time. My waffle was standard, but still worth the trip. Our server even thought to bring butter without me asking, also delightful. My fiancé LOVED the country skillet. He prefers filling meals & he only got through half of the dish! That's saying a lot because he got a lot of food, delivering real value! Our server was friendly & did an excellent job with taking care of us. We cannot wait to come back to Joanna's for breakfast or brunch again!
