    General Tso chicken

My husband and I went in for dinner, we sat at the bar. The bartender was super friendly. We started with an order of their spring rolls. We asked if we could mix them and they said yes so we had 2 pork and 2 veggie. I didn't try the pork but my husband said they were good, as were the veggie! We split an order of the General Tso chicken and fried rice. We very much enjoyed everything we tried!

Their very own Asian vinaigrette dressing! Light and delicious!

This Asian-influenced seafood restaurant surprised me with awesome food! Honestly, I don't expect much from vacation beach towns; they are either sloppily cooked or way much overpriced. Boardwok South offers great alternatives to the common high-calorie comfort food in Outer Banks. I particular like their own Asian vinaigrette dressing, light and delightful. Their side salad (came with the entrees) is very fresh, judged by a regular salad maker (me). For entrees, my partner and I ordered the shrimp scampi and special tuna steak topped with crab meat. Another plus of this place is that they only use NC shrimps and tuna for their dishes (unlike many restaurants in northeastern beach towns that use seafood from other places). Both dishes are decently cooked and presented. I have to say, freshness truly makes a difference in seafood. The only downside is service. This location seems understaffed and the waiting time for food is slightly long. Overall, it's an awesome restaurant based on my vacation-town restaurant standard.

    Seafood rice noodles.

We were so happy to dine in again at Boardwok South. Don't let the plain exterior deter you. Go in and enjoy delicious seafood. We had scallops and shrimp with rice noodles and seared tuna tacos. We enjoyed beer and wine from the bar. Friendly staff and wonderful entrees. (We had no room for dessert)

Call ahead for wait and large groups. Also, yelp says they are closed but that's not true.....have been in this location for 4 years. Great food, casual atmosphere. Don't pass by in the waves strip mall....

The Kill Devil Grill - Big Kahuna Burger. My wife added the CFO (crispy fried onions to hers and it was great).

The restaurant has two distinct dining areas: the front section is first-come first-served bar seating that offers the full menu. The back section, which would be ideal for families, holds about 30 tables, mostly booths, with the hostess stand. We chose to sit at the bar and had a great experience. We started with bruschetta topped with burrata cheese. I ordered the angel hair pasta in a white garlic butter, cream sauce with marinated chicken and grilled vegetables. My husband ordered the special hamburger with Swiss cheese bacon, spinach and mayo with a side of fries. We ended with slices of the key lime pie that didn't disappoint! The food, service, staff and environment were exceptional! We overheard the Server mention that veterans receive complementary meals on Veterans Day, which speaks volumes about how this restaurant supports those who have served. It's housed in an old train car which is really cool (there's additional seating in a building attached to the car). The bar is nicely stocked with a lot of local beers and spirits. Our friendly bartender was well-versed in all their offerings too. The food was also quite good. There were a lot of items (check the daily specials) that feature local flavors.

The menu has a good amount of variety and everything was fresh and prepared just as we ordered. Our server Morgan was very friendly and took great care of us. The Oregon inlet tuna was excellent blackened and prepared perfectly medium. My wife had the Trawl Boat combo and everything was great but, everything was swimming in butter. The shrimp and scallops are locally sourced. A little less butter and the dish would have been better. The special blackberry bourbon bread pudding with vanilla ice cream was killer. So delicious. Can't wait to go back. Oh and get the hush puppies!!

My wife and I brought family from Europe thinking that we would have delicious NC seafood. Instead we had food that was only ok in taste and portions that were laughable. When the server handed my wife a 1/4 glass of wine, I laughed out loud. My $32 dollar dish looked like an appetizer and was less filling. We were 4 pretty small adults who all left hungry after spending more than $125 for our meal. The food was not the only issue. The place feels more like a cafeteria. The service was also terrible. Our waiter had a pretty nasty attitude and either was having a bad day or just hated his job. My advice? Go for the view. Standing outside during sundown was spectacular. Then get in your car and eat somewhere else.
