Flounder basket with fries and hushpuppies

Had a late dinner at Neptunes and I'm really glad we did. The restaurant doesn't look that great inside or out but the food was very good. I had the blackened Mahi Tacos and my wife had the fried flounder. We also got the calamari and shrimp appetizer which was by far the best thing we had. It was lightly fried with parmesan cheese and garlic. I finished with the key lime tart and it was good as well. Overall the service was very good. We got there after 8 and even though they closed at 9 the servers were very good and never made us feel unwelcome. Will definitely stop in again on our next trip to the outer banks.

Huge portions and deliciously lightly breaded, I was happy with my meal. Pricing was a bit higher than expected but made sense when I saw the portion of fish (it was basically 2 meals worth of food)! Hush puppies were tasty and came with honey butter. Overall ambiance is definitely dive bar. Service was good and prompt considering we had a large group, but it was the off season so they were not super busy.

Do not come here and make the same mistake we did. If Yelp allowed a zero star policy, this place would be it. My mom and I had just arrived in Rodanthe after a 12 hour drive and we were told by the Air BnB host that most places in town close early. Not knowing the area, we drove to the first place, and it happened to be this place. We ordered two cups of the she crab soup, an order of the calamari appetizer, and a dozen clams. The soup was brought to us, and it was delicious. While we were waiting for the calamari and clams, out of the corner of my eye I saw a cockroach, or as the locals refer to them, palmetto bug, crawling very quickly on the wall to where our booth was. Another customer tried to capture it, but it scurried away too quickly into a little hole under the booth, and we immediately moved to another booth far away from there. I was on edge, so much so that I did not fully sit in the booth. In addition to the cockroach on the wall, there was a little frog jumping on the wall. It did provide me with something to look at as we waited, however it did not provide me with comfort. The calamari and clams finally came out. The clams were supposed to be a full dozen. We received 10. What happened to the other 2? Is this how they cut corners? They didn't taste great. The calamari wasn't that good either. When the bill came, I noticed there was a fee if you payed with credit card. I was so tired that I ended up paying the entire check, not subtracting the credit card fee, with cash. I thought that was super shady. At least say that there will be a small fee added onto the bill if you are going to be paying with credit, but the server added it before, which leads me to believe they are all greedy for more tips. I woke up at 5am the next morning ready to write the review, but my mom told me to wait and see how the other restaurants were. They didn't operate like that, and didn't add the fee onto the bill until you used a credit card, and didn't pay with cash. Also, we didn't see another cockroach or any other animal crawling or in another establishment we went to. It was a pretty gross experience.

Food was pretty good other than the fact that it didn't come out the way I wanted it to do not recommend the bbq chicken sandwich.

We waited 30 minutes to get in an order and lines were chaos with many people butting in line. We will come back but hoping to find it a bit more organized. Good luck! We like you!

This tiki bar, which opened its doors in June of 2024, has quickly become a hotspot in the area. During the weekends, the bar is buzzing with excitement and is always packed with people eagerly waiting to check in. The atmosphere is vibrant and lively, creating the perfect setting for a fun night out. I had the pleasure of trying their margaritas, and I must say, they were truly exceptional. The bartender at Duck Dive Bar really knows their craft and made some of the best margaritas I've ever had. They were perfectly balanced and simply delicious. One unique aspect of Duck Dive Bar is their Friday morning yoga sessions. For just $20, you can participate in a yoga class that includes a drink afterwards. It's a great way to start your day and unwind in a beautiful setting. I also appreciated that they had mocktails available for kids, making it a family-friendly establishment. The kids seemed to enjoy their drinks just as much as the adults enjoyed their cocktails. Overall, my experience at Duck Dive Bar was fantastic. From the lively atmosphere to the delicious drinks and friendly staff, it's a must-visit spot in Duck, NC. I highly recommend stopping by Duck Dive Bar for a great time with friends and family. Free parking lot.

I've been here with a party of 12 before, and we definitely waited a while, but I was impressed that they were able to accommodate a group that size. This time, I was with a party of two and we were seated pretty quickly. My one complaint about the wait system is that they announce when your table is ready, but if you're out of earshot, you'll miss it. It would be nice if they used a text, call, or buzzer system so you could walk down to the beach while you wait. Part of the pier seating is covered, but the farther you go out, the more exposed you are. We were seated near the end, so it was hot in the direct sun and very windy. But that comes with the territory, and the views make it worth it. There are also plenty of birds hoping you'll share your fries with them, which is both expected and pretty funny. We each ordered a Pain Killer. It was good at first, but it quickly became watered down, and I didn't think it was worth $10. We also got the nachos, but the price adds up quickly once you start adding toppings. Most of the menu is very à la carte. The prices seem reasonable at first, but sides and toppings can add up fast. The burgers don't come with fries, for example. We both got the West Coast Burger. It was good, but nothing particularly memorable. Service was attentive and generally friendly. Overall, Fish Heads is one of the better dining options in the area. The pier setting and views really make the experience unique. I enjoy coming here and will likely be back.

I woke up...and had a delicious time! The reviews here tell you how great this place is, and well...believe them! I thought for sure it would be over-hyped and not live up to what people write and say, but I will admit to being wrong. First, our server, Krickett, was agreed upon (by my partner and I) to be the best server we have ever had. She was friendly, outgoing, had good recommendations, and an all-around joy. Second, the food! Wow! My partner had a salad...simple enough, right? But no, she was amazed by it. And she is a vegetarian, so she has had a lot of salads over the years. This one blew her away. I had the grilled chicken sandwich. Was it life-changing? No. But it was way better than what a grilled chicken sandwich normally is. It was tender, juicy, with just the right seasoning. I would be a criminal if I didn't mention the bruschetta...get it with the burrata...it is worth it! The crispy bread with balsamic drizzle is good enough with the diced tomato mix, but the cheese gives it a new level. And, I hope you saved room for dessert, because the key lime pie was a mouth explosion.

The restaurant has two distinct dining areas: the front section is first-come first-served bar seating that offers the full menu. The back section, which would be ideal for families, holds about 30 tables, mostly booths, with the hostess stand. We chose to sit at the bar and had a great experience. We started with bruschetta topped with burrata cheese. I ordered the angel hair pasta in a white garlic butter, cream sauce with marinated chicken and grilled vegetables. My husband ordered the special hamburger with Swiss cheese bacon, spinach and mayo with a side of fries. We ended with slices of the key lime pie that didn't disappoint! The food, service, staff and environment were exceptional! We overheard the Server mention that veterans receive complementary meals on Veterans Day, which speaks volumes about how this restaurant supports those who have served. If you are in the Outer Banks- whether you're staying in Kill Devil Hills or nearby- this restaurant is worth the drive and all the hype!
