I thought for sure it would be over-hyped and not live up to what people write and say, but I will admit to being wrong. First, our server, Krickett, was agreed upon (by my partner and I) to be the best server we have ever had. She was friendly, outgoing, had good recommendations, and an all-around joy. Second, the food! Wow! My partner had a salad...simple enough, right? But no, she was amazed by it. And she is a vegetarian, so she has had a lot of salads over the years. This one blew her away. I had the grilled chicken sandwich. Was it life-changing? No. But it was way better than what a grilled chicken sandwich normally is. It was tender, juicy, with just the right seasoning. I would be a criminal if I didn't mention the bruschetta...get it with the burrata...it is worth it! The crispy bread with balsamic drizzle is good enough with the diced tomato mix, but the cheese gives it a new level. Since I'm a lawyer, I work where I dine much of the time and never experienced such a problem trying to get seated. The hostess asked me if upstairs was okay and suggested it would be quieter. Assuming she was taking me to a 4 top upstairs, I went up with her only to find there were a bunch of 2-tops. At that point, it felt as if I was not heard or cared about--as if I were unwelcome--despite being pleasant with the staff from the moment I walked in. So I was about to go back down the stairs and said it's okay I'll just go somewhere else. Then a woman on the staff overheard me and it was suggested I could sit at the bar. I explained that's not a good space because the bar area can become loud. And this is especially so when people become intoxicated. So basically my options were a little two-top or the bar. I ended up leaving. I worked very hard in the restaurant industry before I enlisted in the Coast Guard and eventually became an attorney, which is why I always make it a point to be polite to service staff. And I would've never treated people the way I was treated here. I could understand them not wanting me to take up the space of a 4 top if it were a Friday, a weekend, or later in the day, but this is Thursday right at opening time at 5pm when the restaurant isn't even busy. The workers have a large area to prep food so things happened super efficiently. Despite being constantly busy, they were friendly and attentive. Everything we ordered was delicious and made with fresh ingredients. There is ample seating in the outdoor patio as well as around the store on the "sidewalk". We took advantage of a nook outside of the market area, which was nicely shaded with tables and chairs. There was also a lot of comfy seating inside with a couple of nooks furnished with chairs and couches for families to sit in. Past the cafe is a market area with merchandise and wine.
