Fried oyster basket

My husband and I stopped in for lunch and had a great experience. He ordered the fried oyster basket and I had the fried shrimp, and both were excellent. The seafood was very fresh and cooked perfectly, and the portions were generous. Our food came out quickly, which was a nice surprise. What really stood out was how friendly and helpful the staff were--they made us feel very welcome from the moment we walked in. Great service, great food, and a really enjoyable lunch. We'll definitely be back!

We stopped here around 12:30 on a Tuesday in July. We know how slow service can be in Buxton, so we were pleasantly surprised by the short wait for our food. The crab cake sandwich was delicious (great secret sauce). The kids enjoyed chicken tenders and a bacon cheese burger. The jerk chicken sandwich was good, too. There were a lot of drink options and a menu with something for everyone. Cute OBX decor and friendly staff.

I'm traveling on business in the Outer Banks, North Carolina coastal region and we came across this local gem, the Oceania's Bistro. The Oceania's is a casual, cozy, restaurant that locals seem to love. The staff was friendly and the food coming out of the kitchen looked great. I'm so glad we stopped to eat here. The menu has a good variety of food; great appetizers, signature sandwiches, burgers, wraps, and great seafood and turf entrees. I got the Pei Mussels (MP) for an appetizer: Sautéed in a white wine creamy garlic sauce served with grilled bread, and the Seafood Platter for my entrée. It came with Mahi-mahi and shrimp and two sides. It was plentiful and good. By the way, the live music was great too. Jesse Taylor is a talented musician. If you're visiting the area, or here on vacation, or live here, the Oceanas is a great place to stop and get a bite to eat. Enjoy!

Great sized restaurant with friendly and fast staff and good food. Football was on the TVs but not obnoxious.

Bang bang shrimp takeout

Stopped in for an early lunch one afternoon. Outdoor seating was great. Our server was so nice & attentive. Food was great (as usual). We had the bang bang shrimp, blackened tuna tacos, the fried flounder sandwich. We also ordered take out the next evening. They do add in a 15% take out charge, so just be aware. Would recommend to everyone looking for fresh seafood!

My patna ordered a 34$ seafood platter, and this was his serving, pathetic and disgusting

Great bar setting. We ate at the bar.

Out favorite resturant. We enjoyed steamed mussels steamed shrimp, fantastic. Bud Lite sign too bright and too white in bar area. Nice bar except for that.

We stopped in for lunch because we were in the mood for some seafood and gluten free options. The prices were affordable online and the menu selection seemed promising. When we arrived, the dining room was decorated with mermaid decor and it had a very beachy, retro feel. There was a board listing daily specials and plenty of options on the menu. I gravitated directly toward the mahi sandwich. Mahi isn't a regular menu selection at home, so I had to have it. They also offered gluten free buns so the meal would be complete. The food came quickly and our server was very attentive, but let me tell you the best part. Omg, that mahi sandwich was amazing! The red pepper aioli that's served on the side was delicious. I also added that nice squeeze of lemon! Perfection! I loved the potato wedges because who doesn't love those?! My food was so good that I kept raving about it on the drive afterwards. I was full and so happy. Please pay them a visit!

Blackened Mahi

My wife and I went here for dinner. I had blackened Mahi Mahi and she had Tuna tacos. I do not usually provide here say opinions but my wife has been raving about the tuna tacos. She said they are to die for. The Mahi Mahi was very good. The only small complaint is it really was not too blackened and could have had more blackening seasoning. I am picky about my fish and it can't be too "fishy." In this case it was fine and the tarter sauce was good. The service was top notch and the server was very friendly. We had a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc which was very fruit forward and went great with seafood, The bottom line is this is a great example of outer banks cuisine and I recommend it for a nice romantic evening.

Mahi mahi (grilled) + Mac & cheese, Coleslaw

This is probably my favorite restaurant in Avon. We come back every year for their seafood nachos - they just can't be beat. I like getting them for an entree so I have leftovers. Service is always fast and friendly. Great atmosphere and cool decor. Bar area is laid back. TVs with sports on. Their shrimp, Mac and cheese, and slaw is also great. 10/10!!!

Cockeyed Clam - This banana pudding was different than most we've had - thick, creamy, and ours was full of vanilla wafer and banana cream. Delicious!

Cockeyed Clam

(141 reviews)

The Cockeyed Clam was a mixed bag of good and bad menu items…read more The fried clam strips were chewy as well as having the batter being burnt. Had the platter with fish of the day, shrimp, crab cakes, mashed potatoes, and broccolini. The fish with the Parmesan encrusted top was delicious, adding a strong flavor that complemented the fish. However, the underside of the fish didn't have any of that flavor and was under salted as well as being a tad overcooked. The broccolini was cooked well enough but ended up being flavorless due to no seasoning or salt added. The shrimp were okay, not super well seasoned but not super lacking. The crab cake was fairly loosely packed, little char on top. Not super flavorful. Mashed potatoes were good, well seasoned and creamy. The fried seafood items had a nice light batter and wasn't too oily. The hush puppies were a highlight of the meal. They were dense with a hard exterior but not too dry on the inside. The cornbread flavor held strong in the hush puppy and wasn't too greasy. The French fries were abysmal. No salt, no crispness, and terrible texture. Pickled beets added a nice sweetness to the meal. The main highlights were the desserts. The chocolate pecan pie a la mode was delicious as well as the key lime pie. Our server was great and sweet. While most of the food is not terrible, it's not going to impress much either.

Special of the day was Blue crab ravioli with sun-dried tomato Alfredo was fantastic! Bloody Mary…read morewas good, all other food was good. Really love the garlic, mashed potatoes.
