Amazing customer service! I went in looking for advice on whether replacing the wheels on a suitcase was a possibility. I had already tried watching video tutorials on the process but found the wheel housing on my suitcase was different. Kevin took a look and got right to work on removing the challenging pins and happily replaced the wheels for me saving me! I'm so happy I didn't have to throw away a suitcase that was otherwise in great shape. If this old lady takes up skateboarding someday, this is definitely where I'll go for all my gear! read more

Everyone is equally important and nobody waits, the owner juggles the balance of being attentive of everyone in the shop but not abandoning the customer he is helping at the moment. Nice shop, yet in a "funky" way. It struck me that the same "music" (or "tone") was playing on repeat the entire time we were in there - it added an interesting atmosphere to the store. The main focus of the store, as you can clearly see upon walking in, is clothing. They have skate, snowboarding, and general sport clothing. They also have a wall of various shoes, tons of sunglasses, and a nice little dressing room in the back with mirrors on two sides. Their skateboard selection is a bit limited, though. They don't have any pre-assmbled "traditional" ones. You can only get one custom-built, and even then, their stock of wheels, bearings, and other parts isn't too expansive. It isn't ANYWHERE near as good as Skateworks, for example. They do have some pre-assembled longboards, however. They also didn't carry much safety gear other than some fixed-size pads (PERSONAL GRIPE), but I still feel like ANY skate shop should have some of all gear types in their inventory. The person who served me, though, was very nice and patient. He was fast in his service, and was able to answer questions regarding my current skateboard in less than a minute (I had a question about my trucks). read more

I'm learning to ride a skateboard at my advanced age. I've already fallen once and my elbow said ummmmm nope. I called the shop, Kevin answered and gave me all the information I needed to know he had the right skateboard kneepads I needed (weird size!) to make sure my elderly knees don't head for early replacement. No one else had them, so I headed to Napa. He gave me great guidance and even tips on my learning process and exercises to strengthen my ankles. The knee pads I needed were pricey but comparable to online and I got to support a local business. The most AMAZING thing about him was that I drove ALL the way from xxx in full Friday commute traffic and left my wallet at home! He accepted my Venmo and I now love him forever. This is so far the biggest skate shop I've been in. He has so much clothing/hat/shoe stock I was amazed (coming from closer in to San Francisco etc). He gave me info about all the local skate parks and their ins and outs. The shop also gives beginner lessons at a reasonable price. If you're in the Napa area or nearby, Kevin is your man. read more

I came in not knowing really where to start on making my longboard. I bought the deck and wheels prior and when I came in he showed me everything I needed and even assembled the board for me. ***update**** 8/5/16 "Awesome dude!" Was and still is Kevin. We love working with him. Great guy who is passionate about his business, the sport of skateboarding, and Napa. How easy it would have been for Boardgarden to up-sell the boarder novices (my 9 year old son and I), but they didn't. I'm not sure if it was Kevin that helped us, I should have asked for his name. Awesome dude! He was so patient with my son, asked great leading questions, answered my rookie questions.... Customizing a board could have cost us upwards of $200. but when my son saw the used boards, and inquired, the "awesome dude!" was more than happy to assist. We ended up finding a super cool REAL board with wheels that are good for "tricks", and we were out of there for about $50. You have my business for life! I'm so happy that Boardgarden is here. Top notch. My son can't wait to get back in to check out the shoe selection & clothing, and to get some bigger wheels for street riding. Dropped in during a family road trip from Oregon to get a legit board shop experience for my kids. Kevin helped us set up a custom board and it was awesome. He was super relaxed as my other kids tried out boards in his store. Great photo op spot in front of his custom truck out front. I have heard about this place for years and it lived up to all the reviews. Apparently he had just got a new line of Boardgarden button up shirts so I picked out one of them as well. As I write this review my only complaint is that I only bought one, they breath great and feel wonderful and light. This place is awesome! The lady and I went to go look at the Nixon's that they had and were wowed by how much stuff they had. They have a ton of Nike SB stuff. The dude opened the Nixon case for us and let us graze. It was semi-orgasmic going through and trying on all of the watches. We both ended up buying one and it turned out they were on sale. Totally Love Boardgarden! Grew up in Napa, bought a groupon, because I wanted to come get some great sweatshirts, and that I did! I picked up two really amazing ones. Got them home, and they are the best - high quality, and a reasonable price. Came back last week with my BF to pick out kid 2's birthday present. Kevin helped us custom build him a skateboard. He freaked with joy when he saw it, and the best part? custom built = same price had I gone and picked one off a shelf. Oh ya, and I got myself two pairs of REEF flip flops for... drum roll... $5 a pair. SCORE! Kevin is Ah-May-ZIng! I truly believe in supporting local business, whether or not you are local or from out of town these guys are it when it comes to personable service and knowledge. Who wants to visit some chain store run by teenagers who have no real knowledge about the products they are selling? Lifelong participants in the sports they service and family men, it's a no brainier when it comes to business. Tommy has been helping me with skateboarding needs as well as the occasional snowboard trip for myself and my three children for more than five years. He always has a positive helpful attitude and will in fact go above and beyond when it comes to service. He has delivered products in a pinch, instructed two of my kids, and even given them a ride to skate camp, and bought the kids lunch. I would recommend Boardgarden Napa hands down. read more

I'm an expert snowboarder, have been going my whole life. I know how to tune my own boards, but have been living in an apt. so went here to get my board tuned up before a big ski trip. I'm not sure what the f*ck they did...but it was terrible. I went on my ski trip, only to have my board STUCK on the snow when I got to the top of the mountain. Literally stuck. Would not move. I'm not sure what kind of wax they used, if they got the iron hot enough, if they scraped it off AT ALL, but my board was useless. It took me 30 minutes with a credit card to scrape off enough wax to get down the mountain. At $35 for a tune-up, save your money and get it done on the mountain. Not to mention on my way out of the store, some skater hanging out called me a bitch as I was leaving with my board. Save your money, Save your time. Go somewhere else. read more
