The closest one was a little overwhelming once the DJ got started. The food was tasty, well prepared and the presentation was lovely. Our server was not as attentive as he ought to have been. I'm in charge of a lunch group of about 12 ladies. Years ago we used to love B&B. Before Covid we wanted to go there but were told they only take four credit cards. How do you tell 12 people they have to decide who can use their card? Just recently I called because the weather is nice for the outside eating. This is a great oasis from the norm. They have excellent staff. The menu is creative, and something for everyone. They have a lunch menu until 1500. Happy hour until 1700. And dinner menu after that. Many items do not carry over. The place is immaculate. Lots of greenery and shade. Super cute atmosphere and great staff. The musters are high enough to not make you wet, but you still feel the humidity and climate change. If they have bacon wrapped dates (usually 1500-1700) get them and do TRY the mango passion fruit cider. There is floating pulp. Come on! But don't be afraid to try anything. As soon as I saw photos of the adorable patio at Board and Batten , I had to go there. Honestly, didn't even care what was on the menu, just wanted to be sitting on the patio sipping a cocktail. We, of course, sat on the patio with it being a beautiful sunny day. It wasn't too crowded but there were plenty of tables to sit outside. Our server was nice and attentive, and helped me decide what entree to order. Ok , so now why I really wanted to write this review. With my mindset not really caring about the food, boy was I wrong! The food agree is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! We ordered cheese and olives for our appetizer; the olives were delicious along with the cheese. I ordered the burger (rare) and I think this is the best burger I have ever had! It was cooked perfectly (when I cut into it all the juices came running out),the bread was delicious and all the flavors on the burger were just perfect. My friend ordered the portobello grilled cheese (minus the portobello), I had to taste hers and it was delicious also ! For dessert, we got the salted caramel butter bar and yup, you guessed it! absolutely delicious! I was so blown away by every bite of everything we ordered. Make sure you get your appetizer order in on the the first ask - otherwise they will continue to push to get your order every two minutes. 3. Eat appetizers quickly - they will ask to remove plates before you have finished them. 4. Do not ask to add protein on your salad - no longer a menu option even if the online menus includes it. 5. Ask for additional time to find a menu option - only to be told you can't exclude the starch item for double veggies. In fact you can pay for the swap by adding a side option. 6. Back to the basic salad for dinner - where someone approved some protein to add. Report the salad was good. 7. Grand finale - without notice or a friendly heads up or ANYTHING. Asked to leave (non apologetic / not friendly / not a thanks for coming in / notta nothing) at two hours. Stating they had folks waiting outside for a table. 8. Our bill alone was 200+ I assume the other two couples were the same. So 600 for dinner and please leave as they didn't allow for enough time to turn the table. 9. We grabbed a table outside on their beautiful patio area. With the cooler weather setting in, I brought a sweater with me... and had to put it on right away. Our friendly server stopped by immediately and took our drink order. Drinks came out promptly and a took a sip of my B&B Manhattan just as promptly! Since I am a cold-weather wimp, I needed to warm up... and alcohol is one of those tried and true solutions, right? The Manhattan was delish and did the trick... at least for a little while. Before our food came out, we subsided to the cold... and not wanting to bother anyone to bring over a heater for us, we decided to move inside to one of the available tables. Our server welcomed us inside so we could defrost. I ordered the short rib and the last bite was packed with as much flavor as the first bite - soooo good! We finished our meal with the butterscotch creme brulee... and it provided another "wow" moment! So when you pull into their driveway is surprising to be transported into a lovely garden restaurant with outside tables shaded by beautiful trees. The menu was unique and delicious with reasonable price points. Our server, Yousif, was personable, had great recommendations and gave us space to have a relaxing conversation over shared plates. With all of the greenery on the patio it felt more like we were in California or something. The bacon wrapped dates were great. I had the spaghetti with pork and have to say it wasn't really my favorite. The homemade noodles were good, but thought the ground pork was a bit interesting. The salads looked amazing though! If I come back I'd try one of those. Very pleasant staff, but holy flies! Tons of flies that it was hard to enjoy the meal. If they could get a fly trap it may help. read more

This is my favorite place to eat out. It's like an oasis in the desert as it's hidden in a business area. The patio is the best in Phoenix, and rivals places like Chelsea's Kitchen. The inside dining is as hood as well. The cocktails are excellent, and the bartender makes his own mixes. The Basil Gimlet is my favorite as it reminds me of my dad and even though not on the menu as it changes, he usually will make it for me. The food is delicious, bacon wrapped dates are decadent, the pasta dishes are always excellent with variations depending on season and the braised short ribs are delish. This is by far one of the most beautiful restaurant in Mesa, simple beauty. The food was excellent, some of the best I have had in Mesa/Phoenix area; comparable if not better than most restaurants of it's kind in Scottsdale. Service was a little slow but the quality of the food and warm hospitality made up for everything. I came in with a larger party and the manager, Veronica, accommodated our needs so well.
