My mom said the best fried oysters she has ever had and at 93 that alot of oysters since that is what she always orders. Shrimp only was just right size for me. They are smaller I guess than a dinner size but tasty. The prices here are great. Hoping for the red beans and rice to return. No crab cakes here if you are looking for that. The waiter was very nice and our order came out quickly. The food was good, my only critique would be that there be more seasoning/juice on the seafood. But the price wasn't bad. Another critique outside of food is the bathroom. I went to ash my hands after the meal and at least in the women's bathroom, barely any water came out of the faucets and the soap was not very good at removing grease, I had to go through 4-5 runs of it. It took me a long time to properly clean my hands of the grease. I'd preferably give this place a 3.5 star rating since the bathroom should not dictate the overall experience I had, but it is a mild inconvenience after a messy meal. read more

Atmosphere/Vibe Service Food We have been to the Champions & Highway 6/1960 locations so we were familiar with the overall concept. This was our first visit to the 2920 location (and probably our last). We were greeted by a server and told to sit anywhere we liked. The restaurant was about 1/2 - 2/3 full so we grabbed a table and a different server quickly introduced himself. We gave our drink orders and asked about the special on the board by the door. He came back to tell us the details and we ordered - and that's where things kinda just stopped. It took a while to get our non alcoholic drinks but ok. 2 of our party never got their salads. Bar drink (Margarita) never came. We finally asked when entrees showed up and got the salads/drink after we started eating. Zero paper towels so we finally got up and grabbed a roll from another table. Food was average. Not bad but nothing worth describing. It was warm at least. Finished, asked for the check, and waited. And waited. And waited. Server came back and asked the standard question if we needed boxes or anything else... no, friend, just the check we already asked for. Again, our meal wasn't awful but the service + food experience just doesn't warrant another visit. There were staff and servers all over the place so it's not that they didn't have enough employees. This has become a go-to for my wife and myself for seafood in spring. The food is usually fresh. We ordered grilled shrimp as part of our dinner. They brought out unbreaded shrimp that was supposed to be cooked on the grill and you can tell that they fried it. I was in the restaurant business for 15 years. I know when times get busy some Cooks will throw grilled shrimp in the deep fryer to cook it fast. I brought it up to the manager and he told me I was wrong. I sent an email to management and never got a response. I know what fried unbreaded shrimp taste like. On grilled shrimp the tail is not supposed to be crispy. We haven't been back since and it's been at least 3 months. It ruined our experience because I enjoy the taste of shrimp cooked on the grill. This picture speaks for itself. Been coming to this location for over ten years specifically for crawfish. The chef cooks these bad boys to perfection. Claw and tail meat slid right out of the crawfish and they're huge. Do not pass this up. The crawfish and flavor get better every year. We ask for extra extra garlic and their spiciest sauce so the crawfish look brown but it's been tossed in a VERY spicy rub that's taken out my hearing a few times. In a decade, we've never had bad service and for a while we were coming to eat here 3-4 times a week. I've never had a single thing to complain about at this location. Sometimes is very densely populated and there can be a wait, but the staff accommodates parties well, and is cohesive. I just wish it was a little bit warmer when it was served 8/10 We tried the garlic butter oysters 6/10 and raw oysters 7/10 The blue water seafood boil was not worth the price, the garlic butter (mainly just chunks of garlic thrown on top) was not good. It was more like water used to boil the seafood at the bottom of the plate, with chunks of garlic. They do give you a little cup of butter which doesn't hardly suffice for the amount of seafood 3/10 do not recommend, but giving stars based on the amount of food I will say the portions are worth it, but not if it doesn't taste good. read more

I thought the wait would be long seeing all the people outside, but we were seated right away on a Friday night. I didn't care much for the featured drink of passionfruit since it tasted like cough medicine. My husband likes the etouffe he ordered and my son liked his food too. My youngest and I shared the boiled seafood platter. It's huge with great selections of seafood. I'll go back to try other drinks since the restaurant would be nice to take out of town family, and friends to eat for dinner. read more

Went here as a last minute decision. I've had it marked to try for quite some time now. I just want to start by saying that we had the nicest server. She was absolutely wonderful. A breath of fresh air in todays times when servers don't feel like they have to be nice anymore. As far as the food. We ordered an appetizer that consisted of Alligator bites, stuffed jalapenos and boudin balls. They were all ok. Not great. I mean, your typical fried food appetizers. I do have to admit they were very filling. I also ordered a dozen raw oysters. They came out very fast which tells me that they shuck then ahead of time, and I am not a fan of that. They tasted ok, just not as fresh as I am used to. I wouldn't order raw oysters from there again. For my meal, I got a cup of gumbo. It was also just ok. I ended up having to take the shrimp out of it because I didn't like the taste of the shrimp at all. The sausage in the gumbo was good, and the crap was ok. The overall taste of the gumbo as EH. It reminded me of a chair restaurant with their food quality. The place was packed and they looked like they had delicious drinks. I didn't try any on that visit. All and all I might go back and try something different on the menu, and most likely the only reason why I'd give this place another try is because of the fact that our server went above and beyond. Second time I've been here and good food once again. Our server, Justin, had a lot of tables (post Covid labor shortages likely). But- he did a good job of checking on us and keeping drinks filled. We did find that service was slower then it was a year ago and we are adjusting to that being an issue across Houston... On to the food- started with friend alligator and fries. My first time trying this and it was GOOD! The sauce gives it that extra zing- so dip away. Next tried the Garlic Butter Roasted Oysters. I am not an oyster person, but my friend said these were amazing and she loved the garlic butter flavor. We shared the Blue Water Boil filled with shrimp, crab, crawfish and sausage. This place used to be awesome. I hate to say any more than that. The pistolettes are still legendary, however, the gumbo has been changed from a Cajun roux to a tomato based creole style. It's not as good. I had shrimp tacos. Tasted like a packaged Precooked shrimp. Not anything special at all. The good part? One in our party had a burger, she said it was great. The rest of us were not thrilled. It used to be on a Friday night, the line was out the door. Not so this time, we were seated directly, all 10 of us. That should have been our first clue. Only so-so! I love all things crab and crab boils usually have lots of flavor but this just wasn't it. The sauce was watery and flavorless...including the melted butter. We got the spicy garlic based on the waiter's recommendation, who was awesome by the way. The jalapeño crab poppers had a weird texture but were decent. My nephew did like the soft crab appetizer. We were the first customers of the day so the restaurant was empty and quite. So we received immediate service. The food arrived quickly! We immediately noticed the food was fresh! It was love at first bite. The bread was freshly cooked and delicious! The shrimps were very well cooked and the special sauce added perfect flavor to our Po-boy sandwich! The onion rings are the best I have ever tasted, the portions were so much that I could not eat all of the onion rings. I ordered a special side of their in-house hot sauce which was absolutely fantastic, unique and delicious! This sauce made excellent dipping sauce for the onion rings! I am glad that I cane here and hopefully I will be back to share this place with fiends and family! I recommend this place a 100% and hope to visit again someday!
