My first time visiting Bluemercury and I really wanted to love this place but the staff we're so rude!

Definitely service without a smile. I was there to check out the place and to see if I could find a replacement lipstick for my beloved Estee Lauder lipstick that I have been wearing for the past 20 years and that was just sadly discontinued! I mentioned this to the saleswomen and asked if she had a recommendation for a lipstick that closely matched the one I was holding. I was sure she would offer to help me find a lipstick. Instead, she just gave me a glaring look and said "I don't get it. What is it you want." Okay. Well, definitely not that. So, I just went to looking on my own, which she was fine with. Wow! If I was at Macy's or Nordstrom's or any of the department stores, the makeup people would be conducting a full investigation for my perfect new shade! Eventually, that is where I'll be going. As for the store, I really thought it was going to be a lot of items and brands unique to them. In fact, it's mostly brands you can easily find elsewhere, such as Clinique and Kiel's. They had a makeup case of samples that I asked about the price. It turns out if you spend $200 you can get it for free. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything that I wanted to buy, much less $200 worth of stuff! It's too bad they weren't selling it on its own. It would be the one original thing they had. They do have a lot of samples out, so you can try out items to see if you like them. I did like the display of Jo Malone perfumes, just because I love bows, so I found the covers to be really cute! (due to my poor sense of smell, I'm not a perfume person, so I didn't actually try any of them out). When I walked in and asked if the store was like Sephora, I was told that it was but they were more "intimate." I have no idea what their definition of intimate is. Small, maybe? I find the salespeople at Sephora to be extremely helpful and friendly. I'm glad I finally got the chance to check out this place, but I won't be rushing back. read more

I'm not one to give out one star ratings but I was very disappointed with the (lack of service) I received when at Bluemercury. I've been looking to update my beauty routine for awhile so I stopped into the store to look at the products. Not only did I receive no greeting when I walked in the store, the sales associate actively tried to avoid conversation with me. This was in the middle of the afternoon with little to no customers around, which was strange and a sharp contrast to the service I usually receive at Sephora and other specialty beauty stores. Beauty is such a personal decision I believe that customer service can really make the difference in the purchasing decision. There were several brands I had questions about but the lack of service made it difficult to make a purchase. I tried to make eye contact with the sales person but my gaze was quickly averted. I felt uncomfortable being there and ended up leaving. It's too bad because this place is close to my home and dropping funds on expensive beauty products is my favorite thing to do. read more

Everyone has different preferences when it comes to shopping so I personally don't mind being left alone when I walk into a shop. I can be asked once if I need help and then left alone and I don't care. That's what happened here and I was fine. There was only one woman working the floor with 3 or 4 people spread about at any given time so I didn't begrudge her the lack of attention. When I checked out, she was friendly and helpful so overall I have no complaints with her other than she asked if I wanted boxes for my two Jo Malone perfumes. I said no because of the tired tone she used to ask but...yes, the boxes woulda been nice given the price and the fact that they were likely held 5 steps away. Make the effort. My primary concern is that this place is pretty dirty and needs to tidied up in general. This is supposed to be a luxury experience. I'm walking in here to spend some hard earned money and treat myself. I don't want to have to wipe my hand on a kleenex because the shelves are dusty and there's makeup smeared everywhere like Ulta and Sephora. But that's what happened. Boxes and perfume bottles were dusty, stock looked old, shelves were out of whack, testers were filthy, and some areas just looked like they needed to be stocked. And I was there within an hour of the place being opened. Also, if it matters to you, Chantecaille is not stocked at this location as of the writing of this review- go to the Old Town or Arlington locations. read more

As mentioned by another reviewer- opening is hit or miss. I stopped by twice and they were closed(with an out to lunch sign). This is the closest bluemercury- so I tried one last time and they were open, score!!! Bought what I needed (got the last one in my color foundation) and service was good. Next day, opened up my box - the foundation is watery and spilling everywhere. What a mess...drove back to store (they were open thank goodness) and the employee was not helpful or considerate. Suggested I drive to Fairfax to get what I needed. I asked if they could help Me order it online- they obliged. Overall experience was meh... definitely not the typical Bluemercury experience. Seems they've gone down in customer service since Covid. I took the time to come 3X due to their lack of consistent opening times and they had bad inventory, now I'm the one inconvenienced. I don't get it- makes me hate giving you my $$. Moral of the story- don't waste your $$ on this business model. Try to buy somewhere else. read more

It's been almost two weeks since my clarifying facial + microdermabrasion with Miri and my skin is STILL glowing. BlueMercury is one of the newer retail shops and spas in Mosaic District, located in the row where Neiman Marcus Last Call, South Moon Under, Bevelo, Sip'n'Swirl, and New Balance are. A girlfriend gave me with a Blue Mercury gift card for my bridal shower and I was so disappointed that I didn't go before my wedding because my skin would've been on fleek! Thankfully, tons of makeup can cover imperfections and the facial afterward definitely helped with the built-up congestion from the wedding and weather. I had a super relaxing experience and I enjoyed the neck, shoulder, and hand massage. The facial room was clean and well-kept and I felt at ease the whole time. In addition to a spa, they also sell tons of high-end makeup and skincare products. I look forward to coming back on a monthly basis for a facial! read more

I visited Bluemercury on new year's office to get some cover up after sustaining some scratches on my face. The service that I received was amazing. They really took the time to examine my situation and provided amazing help. I left the store looking much better and armed with many tips to help with the healing process in order to prevent scarring. One week later, the scratches have healed very nicely thanks for their rips. Highly recommend! read more

Unlike some of their competitors, you don't have to sift through products or do research to figure out what to buy. They've done all the legwork for you and their products won't disappoint. I have shopped Blue Mercury because I have an addiction to luxury beauty products. My salon uses Oribe products and got me hooked on the scent. However when I bought it this time, something was off. I took the product back. Mgr was curt. I know it's not good for you if I used it but I've been an Oribe consumer for years. Something was different. I won't go here again. This store should be closed down immediately. Whenever I go there and ask for assistance, I always feel like I'm burdening the staff who are absolutely useless and lazy. The customer service is beyond atrocious. Sephora would be a good replacement for this store. We need a Sephora in Mosaic too. read more

This place is becoming my favorite over Sephora for buying skincare products. They carry all the higher quality products that I love - LaRoche-Posay, Skinceuticals, LaMer, etc. I actually stopped in to buy sunscreen and realized they don't carry the brand I was looking for (EltaMD). A plus for this Mosaic-area location is the convenient parking since the Target parking garage is right there. Also, not all Bluemercury locations have a spa, but this one does! They offer a great variety of spa services such as facials, waxing, microderm, makeup lessons, and massage. I'll definitely have to come back to try a basic facial. I love the location because it's close to Tyson's where I live and I can do all my shopping/errands in this area. Sales ladies were friendly, knowledgeable about the products & very helpful. Omg Denise from Blue Mercury I literally cannot thank you enough. I came in with my (cranky) kid one day and told Denise I didn't have much time. I was STRUGGLING with my skin like I never have in my life. I'm 26 and breaking out all over the place. Not to mention my foundation definitely didn't match the skin color on my face. I came in looking only for foundation. Denise prepped my skin and got to the foundation ASAP. We found the color (even went outside) that matched me and after walking towards checkout, I asked her about the products she had used to prep my skin. She gave me a slight overview of what she recommended/used on my face and how it would benefit my skin. I loved that she never tried to push me to buy more product or upsale me. I also love that I asked her about skincare. I ended up purchasing a facewash, serum and lotion along with the foundation and concealer (thank you so much grandma for the bday money). All in all, I'll be going back shortly to repurchase the foundation and concealer, and serum; BUT most importantly, my skin has NEVER looked this good. I am eternally grateful (and now acne/discoloration free). read more

Customer service is the last priority for the staff at this store. Ive been in three times and have yet to be greeted or asked if I need assistance. I walked in yesterday and the lady working turned to look at me but turned back around without saying a word. The week before that I went in to buy a friend a gift and the employee kept her back to me the entire time while I stood less than two feet from her looking at products. I like having a place where I can buy Skinceuticals in person but I guess I'll go back to ordering online. Not worth my time to shop here again. read more

Like other reviewers noted the customer service is terrible. The saleswoman ignored us when we entered the store which was empty and she seemed very annoyed to be asked a question when she was unpacking boxes. She showed us products we specifically said we weren't interested in and then walked away to 'help' someone else before finishing assisting us. She never came back to see if we found what we were looking for in our own. I'll spend my money at another store. read more

The associates are knowledgeable, helpful, and really help to educate you about the products they sell, rather than pressuring you into buying items you don't need. The only reason this store gets 2 stars is because of their products because the service at this store is terrible!! Customers pay for luxury products and receive not even a greeting when you walk into the store. I live in the neighborhood and visit this store quite often, they should know me by name unfortunately that's wishful thinking because they barely care to be at work. Once in a blue you'll get an associate who wants to help or you'll be helped by their new manager, Taylor who is very friendly and attentive. I stopped in to Bluemercury last Friday to try to find a new cleanser and moisturizer, and had a really nice experience. Not only did they have a great selection of products that I would usually have to go to Nordstrom to buy - NARS, La Mer, Bobbi Brown, Kiehls, Hourglass, Jo Malone, etc. , but the manager was welcoming and warm. She took the time to help me find what I needed, and did not try to sell me anything that I didn't. She even tried some makeup on me at my request, just for fun, and gave me lots of samples. So this review is mainly for the Spa service I received. I waited a while to write this review because i didn't want to slam a locally owned business. But this isn't all that bad of a review. The retail store itself is fine, I like the lines of product they carry. I had the brightening facial. I usually get a facial once a month but had fallen off the bandwagon for a bit and have been searching for a spa to get back into the routine. The esthetician was very knowledgeable, the products used for the facial were decent quality, and her technique was very good on my darker ethnic skin. Overall I thought it was a very good quality facial. My one complaint is the price. I'm someone who believes a monthly facial is so worth it... but that being said, the price of their facials are comparable to what a full service day spa (e.g. Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa) or destination spa would charge at a resort while you're on vacation... but this is not anything like that. It's in the back room of a retail store (you can hear the chatter of customers out in the front of the store while having your "relaxing" facial).. So while I sometimes splurge on a $200 facial while on vacation in Hawaii..i was a little surprised to be spending as much in the back room of the store (granted I'm exaggerating a little, resort spa prices are higher.. but not by much). As someone who commits to getting a facial once a month, the cost/value tradeoff is a little off for me with Blue Mercury. But if you get facials less frequently and just want to splurge... this is a good quality option, just don't expect it to be a full day spa experience! read more

This is the second time I've had terrible service at this location. The staff here, when they bother to greet you, behave as if it's a major inconvenience to do their job. The first time I came in the clerks stood at the counter talking and didn't bother to check in with me at all. When I went back today to find a lip oil the clerk was talking to another guest and didn't bother to say hello or ask if I needed anything until I had already been there ten minutes and (sort of) found what I needed. I would've left without buying anything (Sephora has the NARS foundation and body oil I use and the actual lip oil I wanted) but my lips were so dry I just bought a Sugar balm in a pinch. My coworkers warned me about the staff being rude at this location (we've always had great service elsewhere!) but it's so convenient I gave it a second try. I won't bother again. I stopped by here while I had some time to kill before going out and I desperately needed some new makeup. While I knew it was going to be expensive I expected to not receive any help at all since I was in a "zombie cage fighter" tshirt and jeans and looked the way I did with my hair up in a mess and no makeup on. I also look quite young though I'm 20 years old. I was pleasantly surprised as I was immediately greeted by a wonderful woman who treated me like I walked in with moneybags in either hand. I rejected her offer for help initially because I thought I knew what I wanted but soon realized they had so many great products that I didn't quite know which to choose. I then sought out help from the woman who offered it and I wish I got her name because she was an absolute delight to work with. I told her I needed all new makeup because I ran out about a month ago and had putting it off due to a tight budget so couldn't quite get everything I needed that day. She never once tried to upsell me nor did she brush me off. She was extremely helpful and I walked out with a lune+aster CC cream that matched my skin perfectly and a stay-matte universal blotting powder from Clinique as well as a couple free samples. I am very satisfied with these products and the customer service I received. Can't wait to go back for more. read more

It's hard to find a spa where you can have a facial that is relaxing and also makes your skin feel great, but Miri did just that! I did the hydrating facial and my skin feels amazing. In addition Miri made sure I had a relaxing experience with a mini shoulder and hand massage. The products are gentle and have a lovely aroma to them.
