I've had the opportunity to experience LATHER's products, and I have to say, they're pretty darn good. I was hesitant at first because I love my K-beauty products. However, the employee was very helpful in explaining the environmentally friendly products. The demonstration of their use on my hands and my husband's face wowed us, and we ended up purchasing products. It was reassuring to see repeat customers come by to repurchase products they were out of. This left an impression that LATHER's products could be trusted. My personal favorite, the Bamboo Lemongrass Foaming Body Scrub, left my feet and hands feeling baby smooth. My wish is to go back and purchase their Bamboo Silk Foaming Face Scrub. My husband enjoyed the facial demo and got the Advanced Blemish Control Serum. I will definitely come back again to repurchase their products when I run out and pick up the face scrub! read more

Super sweet associates. They listened to my skin are needs and provided a mini facial and hand treatment. They also had some refreshments and gave out hair bands and scrunchies. I've used their products in the past so it was nice to see the new products they had in. I love that the fragrances in their products are not overwhelming and strong. read more

I came here for a Yelp event this past weekend and was blown away by the level of service I received. The store is very open, clean, and well maintained. The staff are welcoming and friendly. Sophia was amazing! She walked me through each step of their recommended skin care routine and made sure to still attend to other customers who walked and purchased products. She is so knowledgeable about each product and its benefits. The products are quality! I had so much fun sampling and checking out the testers they have for each product. I can't believe I've missed this gem as many times as I've been to the Mosaic. This will now be my go to shop for my natural skin and hair products. If you love more natural ingredients in your skincare and haircare, this store is for you! read more

I originally first came to Lather for a Yelp event, and had such a great time that I wanted to take the chance to come back again for a regular shopping experience. I was again greeted by the wonderful store manager Millie, and was able to browse around the store, and test out some of their new products that I hadn't gotten a chance to try at my last visit. Last time, I was able to pick up a wonderful sunscreen and facial mist that have worked wonders on my skin (no more burning sensation from using sunscreen around my eyes, and now I have soft and supple cheeks thanks to the mist). This time, after sampling a number of products, I added a great smelling clove soap to my Lather collection. With such great quality products that work well for my sensitive skin, I look forward to coming back as a regular. My take aways: - Products: Clean and high quality ingredients (perfect for those with sensitive skin) - Customer service: Very welcoming, providing a personalized shopping experience - Price: Fair, considering the quality of ingredients - Store look and feel: Very minimalist, yet warm and inviting read more

An updated review and I would still give 5 stars to lather. I recently won a raffle for a pamper party so I invited my friends and sister to attend. We essentially had the entire store to ourselves since no one else really came in. Their products were really nice, I ended up purchasing their avocado scalp scrub and they also offer small goodie bags afterwards and a raffle prize. The honey and almond moisturizer are really good for my dry skin by the staff will help evaluate your skin and make recommendations to what fits you best. Would recommend if you're looking for a smaller business to support for all your skincare needs. read more

Today, my friend Sherry and I went for facials at LATHER in Merryfield @ Mosaic . After a brief skin consult, we enjoyed a honey ginger mask for hydration while we shopped. See the pictures. My take aways: Products: I really liked the products at lather they weren't overly scented and the scents they did have were reminiscent of aroma therapy at your favorite spa. I never review things right away I sit with a product for a while. Hours later they still have not hurt my skin and I still feel refreshed and smell great. Customer service: I felt very welcomed by the three associates as I arrived them we each had our own individual associate throughout our visit to answer any questions we had. The associates were knowledgeable warm and welcoming, the store was clean and no one made me feel pressured at all infact they encouraged us to try everything! Origin: They say that necessity is the mother of invention, and these formulas were invented by the founder for her own sensitive skin needs. The overall experience gives luxury but the price point screams bargain.. Lather offers this personalized experience if you simply call them and make the reservation. read more

So I recently visited Lather and even through I don't have alot of experience with skin care and etc I had an amazing experience :) Decor: The place is super lively and inviting. The moment you walk in, you're greeted with a warm, cozy atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The decor is modern with a touch of elegance that really sets the mood for a relaxing experience. Service: The service here is top-tier. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. They took the time to answer all my questions about skincare and even gave me some great tips. I felt like they genuinely cared about helping me find the right products for my skin. Price: It's a bit on the pricey side, but honestly, it's worth it. The ingredients are super clean and high-quality, which is really important. Plus, being located in the Mosaic District, you kind of expect it. Would I go back: For sure! Skincare routines can be so complicated, but they make everything so easy to understand. I left feeling confident about my skincare choices and can't wait to go back for more advice and products. read more

The team working here at Lather Fairfax is phenomenal. I am specifically writing this review for Sofia. I had the pleasure of visiting the store and being introduced to Lather products a couple of weeks ago. Sofia took her time explaining each and every product, and suggesting appropriate products for my skin type and needs. I've got to say, I had been looking for a skincare routine that I could stick to, and Sofia may have changed my mind for the better. I absolutely love their Chia seed and passionfruit cleansing oil. I love make-up, and I am constantly looking for better ways to remove make-up. This is a great product for that, and the way Sofia explained to me on how to use it, it was a no-brainer that I buy it. I also love their sweet almond facial moisturizer. It is absolutely gentle, and delicate, perfect for my skin. I am excited to try their SPF. I use SPF 50 and they have a great product which I haven't tried yet. When I was visiting their store, I bought a couple of their products. However one of the products wasn't in store so they had to order it and have it shipped to my house. There was a slight mixup in the logistics causing an unnecessary, however, unintentional delay. When brought to Sofia's attention, she was prompt to rectify this, and how! I truly appreciated her professionalism in problem resolution and knowledge she brought to me with regards to the products that Lather has to offer. Professionalism, great products, what else could I want? Shout out to Sofia and Team Fairfax! read more

Returned to Lather today because the SPF Daily defense Sunscreen I purchased wasn't working correctly. The staff working today apparently had her dog with her that she allowed to roam throughout the store. I personally am not a fan of everyone's dog having experienced such a tragic experience with loosing my own dog. I didn't appreciate her dog walking up on me and sniffing around me. In a place of business especially staff of the establishment, shouldn't assume everyone is open to their dogs walking up on them. read more

I was introduced to their products in Spring of 2024. Mosaic is the perfect location for this shop. The shop is clean and organized and sits amongst some wonderful shops. The body butter is the best compared to other butter brands. Love the smooth consistency. I am typically an Aveda facial products person but have recently switched to Lather's ultra face wash, almond moisturizer and peptide eye gel. The price point is great compared to the higher end brands. I like being able to get special attention when I'm shopping in store. The staff is just fabulous. They also use the products and are passionate about promoting it. I love getting samples to try and then coming back to purchase. I recently tried the muscle ease for my old lady arthritis and was surprised how it provided some relief. read more

I've been using Lather products for almost 2 years now, and I don't think I'll stop any time soon! It's right in the heart of Mosaic, right by the Target, which is super convenient for me (and many others) for accessibility. You can go shopping, eat at restaurants, and also replenish on natural skincare products! My usual go-tos are the honey propolis face mask, oil cleanser, comfort creme (excellent for eczema!), lip conditioning balm, and the mint thyme hair wash! As you can see, it's a part of my every day self-care items. The staff here are super nice and helpful, they will also help you understand the products, the ingredients, and what they are useful for. I have also hosted a pamper party here, and a lot of my friends now have new skincare routines that have helped their face and hair look and feel a lot better! read more

Millie was my consultant and was so sweet and personable! She gave me a brief run down of this woman owned business. All Natural and no parabens, no additional dangerous harming chemicals straggling inside your products! After her intro, we started with a roller ball blending bar which has endlessly possibilities. You can pick up to 3 scents and everyone who smells it on me loves it! As do I! Next was the sink demo, which I absolutely enjoyed. She did a lemongrass exfoliation scrub that can be used head to toe, she then put an elixir on me that is also available to use everywhere! My hands were sooooooo soft I can only imagine how my body would feel! To top off the demo she put a cuticle oil on me that absorbed so well I ended up purchasing that. Millie eventually let me venture on my own and I was in desire need of skincare for my dry skin. Let me tell you I will be back for every thing got in my trial dry skin kit! My skin feels amazing, another additional product I got for my skin was a serum. I am sooooooooo in love with my purchase! You will be amazed by how your skin looks and feels! I will be back for more LATHER and Millie. read more

Another place for skincare, body care, hand care and everything care that I got to experience! Love how sweet and enthusiastic the staff are. It's pretty quiet when I came in and as soon as I walk in, it smells absolutely amazing. I love to support women owned business but this place popped out because its also cruelty free, gender free as well. I attended here for an event and came out with a birthday present and LOTS of selfcare product! Would deff recommend this place for anyone who likes soft and natural smelling fragrance. I've been here once for an event, and another time alone. The area around the store is pretty quiet and nice, and the staff here is really knowledgeable about the skin care products, including its ingredients and benefits as well as pairings that goes well for scents. The ambiance here is quite comfortable, and the products that they have in the store caters to audiences that likes clean, natural organic ingredients in skin care products. They have different sections for different types of products as well, as there's one section mainly for face products, one for bath, one for body, one for hair care, and another for foot care. The bar soap that they have smells really nice, though I'd have to say that if you are more into fragrances from high-end brands and not herbal scents, then their fragrances might not be for you, as the blending bar hosts scents that are herbal. Additionally, I really like that they have pairings of similar scents, as their hand wash and hand lotion comes in pairs so that you won't have to worry about losing the hand wash scent when putting on moisturizer lotion. If you aren't too much into scents, there's also light scent options that helps your skin retains moisture as well. Prices here are mid-range, but they also do occasional discounts during events, so be on the lookout for that! read more

If you want high quality skin care, come here!! AND high quality at good prices!!!! I've never heard of that combination before. These products seriously feel so amazing on my skin and all the ingredients are so high quality and clean that you feel GOOD about what you're putting on your skin every day!!! All of the employees here are so friendly and kind and helpful, you'll definitely have one of the best shopping experiences in retail. Maria was such a ray of sunshine and was SO knowledgeable about what my skin would need, what every product I asked about was good for, it was so helpful and made learning about skincare products so much less daunting. The store is so well put together. The categories of products are color coded to make it so easy to shop (for example blue is body, orange is face) they also have wonderful gift sets and TSA travel sets. Just so smart and makes shopping so much easier. The backstory of the shop is also so amazing. Woman founded!!! Again, makes you feel great about where you're spending your money. Situated in Mosaic, step into a mini spa! Smells amazing the moment you want into the store. Everything is gender neutral, organically made, and all natural ingredients. Decided to do a mini pamper party at Lather. The hosts were amazing and very informative. They provided treats and bevies for the party. My guests and I bought some products that were recommended for our skin type (sensitivity, dryness, etc). Unfortunately, my daughter has really sensitive skin (she broke out) and was so bummed to stop using what she bought. We had to return the products. They were super helpful and we received a store credit for future products. My other guests are super happy and see the difference :-) read more

From start to finish the staff here are the sweetest and beyond helpful. I'm so particular with skincare products as I have super sensitive skin but all of their products are gender neutral, cruelty free, and naturally made. I love that whatever I use, my husband can use as well. Usually I get nervous to try products (I love smelling them and feeling the texture), but they made me feel right at home. They had little disposable tester spatulas for each product which made me feel clean and safe. If your indecisive like me, they'll let you take samples home! This location is so aesthetically pleasing. At first glance, I thought it was just a soap store, but they have so much more (face, body, hair, wellness essentials, gift sets, and candles). I can't wait to go back and buy more, while also supporting a woman owned and woman empowered brand. Pro tip: online they have a full ingredients glossary so you can research exactly what's in each product. They also have a lifetime return policy. Even if you find that you don't like the product after using it, you can return it no matter how long it's been. #womenshistorymonth read more

About 15 years ago, I made the conscious decision to stop buying cheap so-called "health and beauty" items after reading up on all the destructive chemicals that go into these products. The most toxic of these ingredients are parabens and phthalates. Parabens, widely used as "preservatives" in personal care products, are known hormone disrupters which have negative impact upon the human endocrine system. Phthalates are chemicals that make plastic soft and flexible; which is odd then that these compounds are found in shampoo, hair spray, soap, moisturizers, and a whole host of personal care products...yuck! It's easier to just buy whatever mass marketed personal care product that is available in CVS or COSTCO, until I finally made the connection that all this "stuff" that I'm using in my hair and skin eventually gets absorbed into my body. That's why I always appreciate Yelp partnering with great shops like Lather since I've walked by this shop many times and didn't know about their corporate mission (https://www.lather.com/pages/about-us) or the products they offered. I visited as part of the Yelp Elite "pit stop" event, and was super impressed by the service and knowledge of the team member who assisted me, Autumn. She mentioned that Lather is a California based company with a goal to provide natural cosmetic and personal care products that are free of harmful chemicals. In fact, the location in the Mosaic District here in Fairfax has been operating since 2014...which I was not aware of. Autumn provided a detailed brief of the different sections of the store, to include how the products are color coded to correspond to different areas of personal care. I really enjoyed the various body scrubs at the station that was set up for the Yelp event, and also had fun making my custom essential oil blend at that station. I also picked up some tips regarding some issues I have with razor burn when I shave (a common problem for men) and purchased a product which was recommended. Tried the stuff for a few days, and it seems to be helping. And nice touch with the Yelp goodie bag to include a future 15% discount card! Special shout-out to the outgoing NOVA Community Manager, Gretchen F. She's been a great ambassador for NOVA over these past years and another fantastic event for the Yelp community. read more

I truly enjoyed my quick elite "pit stop" at LATHER thanks to Yelp NoVa! I was greeted by a smiling staff who walked me through the the two stations. Station 1: Body - I was able to try 4 different body scrubs and 8 different moisturizers for my hands and body. I loved the mini spa day to myself! My favorites were the yuzu sugar cane body buff and the coconut foaming body scrum. Both left my hands smelling heavenly and super smooth. Out of the body moisturizers, I loved the almond, milk & honey body butter the best. I loved the variety of options from thick to thin butters and lotions. Station 2: Custom Blends - I got a taste of LATHER's blending bar, by making my own aromatherapy custom blends. My favorites were rosemary, mint, and lavender - and they smelled AMAZING together! I really appreciated the COVID precautions where all staff wore masks, gloves, and regularly sanitize the stations. Each "tester" also had disposable spoons to limit contact. Will be coming back for more products! Thank you again Yelp NoVA for hosting this event! read more

Walking by this store the last 7 years I never gave second thought of actually going in and checking it out. As a guy who doesn't use fancy body or face products, it just didn't seem to be for me. I'm sorry that I had taken that attitude, because when I finally did venture in, not only did I find much to my liking, just the experience of visiting was a treat. A very personable and helpful staffer greeted me upon arrival. Since it was my first time visiting, I got a personal tutorial on all of the ways I should explore the store and its offerings. From a wonderful body washing station to explore different washes, to cruising the color coded sections of products it was both an educational and rejuvenating experience. I appreciated the chance to take my time, learn and consider things I really haven't given thought to previously. A special treat was an invitation to make a personalized oil to take with me. Lots of choices made it fun to do. On this maiden journey I was truly sold on what was being offered and left with a starter supply of lotions, shave cream and washes! Needless to say, I am planning on making Lather a regular stop on my visits to the Mosaic from now on. read more

Came to visit Lather for the first time as part of a Yelp Elite experience! I've noticed this store many times while being in mosaic but have never stopped in for some reason. I'm so glad that this was set up so it gave me an excuse to go! I walked in not rly expecting much, I am into facial skincare and slowly the rest of my body. I've just tried many products and don't really have a "go-to" that's worked amazingly for me. Autumn immediately greeted me as soon as I walked in. She explained each of the stations they have set up to test their products. She took her time to go through each of the lines they offered (body care, hair care, facial skin care, essential oils, etc). After she finished she left me to try things out on my own and explore but was also there if I had any questions. Station 1: Body scrub & butter tester area. I tried the foaming scrubs and Buffs. Let me tell you! I have the ultimate dry hands before covid but worse now that we have to constantly wash and sanitize our hands. My favorite combination is the bamboo lemongrass scrub & the yuzu buff. FiniSh off with the jasmine & plumeria body whip. The perfect combination for baby soft hands again! Station 2: the blending bar - got to mix our own essential oil roller ball! I was basic and just followed their recipe for "energizing" since I'm always tired - this will be great to carry around and smells amazing! The rest of the visit I got to take a look at every thing else and got some samples. I can't wait to try their scalp scrub! Will definitely be returning to purchase some more goodies! It's also nice that everything is ethically sourced, all natural ingredients, & smells amazing!! Pro tip: must try the mangosteen & green tea hand lotion. Thank me later!! read more

I am so impressed!!!! Not only by the store but Autumn, the store rep who assisted me during my visit, were both excellent! For starters I had no idea this store existed. I came by for a Yelp Elite event and I am so glad I did! The store is very clean and bright but that doesn't matter as much as the products! The products are all made with essential oils and ingredients either from small and/or organic companies! I normally dislike MOST essential oil products because of the overpowering (and usually gross) smells. The products I sampled smell and feel great. The prices are extremely reasonable and comparable to The Body Shop or Origins. I loved so many of the products I had trouble not buying everything I tried! I'm excited about the avocado mint hair repair and the Advanced Blemish serum. But my FAVORITE is the Pear and Lavender!!! I love the smell and got the moisturizer. Again it smells good but much more subtle than other essential oil products. My visit was great but Autumn was the biggest reason for making my visit great! She was so knowledgeable and helpful without being being pushy or overbearing. I hate small stores where they hover and pressure you or when associates never know anything about what they are selling. Autumn was great in making helpful recommendations and providing a lot of information about the products and the company. If you need great gifts or want to find a great store with natural products that is not harmful I would highly recommend this place! @squishesays read more

My "pitstop" at LATHER was definitely a great experience! I drove pretty far for this yelp experience and it was definitely worth it! I'll start by saying I love the products In there! My favorites definitely have to be the pain reliever creme, the foot pumice scrub and the all natural deodorant, which I didn't buy this time but maybe next time. I really liked how they set up stations to not only try their products and get an idea of what they stand for but also to make aromatherapy rollers with about 8 different scents. I was lucky to had a chance to try some samples from this place and now lets just say that I'm super addicted to their product. I really like their hand moisturizer, it's not sticky and it leave my skin soft. The shampoo line (mint) was really good for my hair. My hair was super dry and tangled but after trying the hair mask (avocado) and using the mint shampoo, it made my hair feel amazing!!! The only down side is that the bottle size is super tiny!!! I have long hair and the shampoo tube and the mask tube is so little. I'm so sad they don't have any option for larger bottle size or refillable bag that is good for the ecosystem. I'm also in love with the 10 minutes leave in face mask, it make my skin feel so brighten and glowy. Make sure to give this store a chance, don't be intimidated because the employees are very friendly and they are willing to let you try any product samples. I really love that they let you try the sample before buying because it really help me find out if the product work for me or not before spending a lot of money on it. I first came to LATHER for a Yelp Event, but also came by again after winning a raffle for a Pamper Party with my friends. There's a huge variety of products from facial skincare, to lotions, to bath products, to muscle relievers, to aromatherapy, and more. They even just came out with a sunscreen that I had to get. Would love to see some type of deodorant/antiperspirant as well. The best part about Lather, other than knowing that what you're using on your body is safe and all natural, is that they let you try and take home samples of free much everything. It's hard to agree to spending money on skincare and also hard to know if something is going to work well for you. So having this perk is pretty much as good as a "free returns" policy for those of us with commitment issues :) The customer service is also top-notch. I was always greeted right away, and all of the employees were helpful and friendly. It's clear that they use the products themselves as they are full of recommendations and helpful tips. Across my visits, I was helped by Autumn, Sona, Kathryn (I think that was her name), and a younger Black woman who I also cannot quite remember the name of. I couldn't have asked for better service from all of them, especially as someone who cares about skincare but doesn't know that much about it and is a low maintenance gal. I made some purchases of my fav products and, needless to say, took home a bunch of samples that I've trying over the weeks. There are a few that I definitely like a lot and others that I don't see a huge impact with but am so glad I was able to try it out. Prices are pretty reasonable. They can seem high for some of the serums, but a little bit of those go a long way, so ultimately I think it's all fairly priced. In short, I definitely recommend taking a trip to the storefront to try products in person and taking home a few of your favorite ones! read more
