As a professional cosmetologist and a Manager of a corporate office, I cannot for the life of me understand how the manager of this specific establishment is still employed with Cosmoprof! Let me start from the beginning. I received an email notification about 2 weeks regarding the 10% discount being offered for that Sunday-Monday. I stopped by on Monday after work to pick up a few items. I noticed the shelf was cleared of the American Crew forming cream that I needed, so the cashier was kind enough to inform me that she would place an order and honor the discounted price, plus the 10% for me. I was also notified that the products would be available for pick up on Wed. of this week. I waiting for a call on Wednesday and never heard from anyone, so on Thursday afternoon, I placed a call to check on the status of my order and the manager, Shelly, picked up the phone. I've witness her attitude with other associates and customers while browsing in the store in the past, but never had to encounter it myself since i'm usually a kind person and never needy. However, in this circumstance, I really needed those products before the Holiday break before 2 p.m. on Friday. Shelly informed me that her truck did not get to the store on Tuesday and that she received it on Thursday instead. She also continue to go on about how she's understaffed and extremely busy, talking super fast to the point that I could barely understand what she was saying, she went on to promise me that she would have my creams ready by Friday morning and she would give me a call as soon as it's available. I explained to her that I would need to pick up the items by 2 p.m. because I wouldn't be in the area after that time. She stated that she's the only person who unloads the truck and she's very fast so it would be ready by the morning. I called back today (Friday) around noon because I hadn't heard from her and another associated picked up the phone. I calmly explained again that I was promised a phone call and was just checking in on the status of my product. She explained that it wasn't ready yet and that they would call me later when it's available. I explained that I needed it by 2, which she replied, the manager was going on break and she wasn't certain that the products would be ready by 2 p.m. *At this point, I could hear their rude manager in the background again, screaming "put her on hold!"* She picks up and talking super fast stated that she's busy, understaffed and has gone through the products. I was trying to explain to her that I needed them by 2 because I would be gone, she got irritated, speaking VERY quickly and continued raising her voice and speaking over me when I tried to ask her if it would be ready by saying ' THANK YOU FOR CALLING MA'AM, YES, THANK YOU FOR CALLING AND CHECK AND I WILL REACH OUT TO YOU" and..CLICK she hung up the phone. I don't think she realized that she was on speaker and her rude tone and manner was being heard by 10 others in the room with me. I quickly picked up the phone and called back, asking why she hung up the phone and she claimed that I hung up the phone on her. When I explained to her that I was sitting with 10 other witness in the room and she was on speaker and they all heard her rude manner and tone and explained that it isn't my fault, just as much as it's not her that the truck didn't come on time, but she was the one whom had promised me the product this morning, the day before. I asked her for corporate's phone number, which she didn't seem to care about and she hung up the phone again. I called corporate, doesn't seem that they did anything either, now it's 2:16 and I still haven't received a call for my products. Cosmoprof really needs to re-evaluate their employees in this specific location. I would HIGHLY recommend that they find new management. As a manager myself, I believe it is our responsibility to stay calm and respectful when dealing with distressed clients. It is no surprise to me now after dealing with Shelly, of the reason why the rest of her staff are rude and always talking bad about customers. Make the 10 minute drive and go to another location or better yet, visit the ALWAYS professional, clean and organize Salon Centric across the street. read more

This cosmoprof feels like it's understaffed. They need people who know about hair. There's so many young people. I just got licensed a couple of months ago. There's nobody to ask for help even if I have a question or what they recommend better. Sometimes I feel like some of the staff looks at me a weird, funny way. Yes I know I'm young but I have a license!! I am not here to steal. I am here to SHOP. and when I mean shop, I will shop and drop $200+. I only come here for emergencies now because I feel mistreated. I've found another store that'll have me happy. read more

4 years later and my opinion is greatly changed. I love that I can call in an order to this store any day and Shelly, Kathy, or Rachel will pull my color right away for me to pick up. This saves me so much time! It does seem like their shipments are still wacky but that's not the fault of the store (It sucks that shipments are still messed up since my review 4 years ago). I think the manager Shelly does the best with what she's given. As a manager of a salon I can understand things happen, and some things are out of your control. Corporate should start a system of marking ideal quantities of items and then just ship the items needed, plus the new deals. Maybe some day they'll figure it out, until then I'll keep that 5th star in my back pocket. Shelly and the girls always take care of me, and always offers to order things for me when they aren't in the store, or call other locations to find things for me. And, I always get a personal call reminding me of their 10% off days. My suggestion to others would be to call first before you leave if you need something specific. read more

I was just in this cosmoprof location, and now I am writing my first ever negative review (if you don't believe me, check my other reviews). Let me first start by saying that I have been coming to this cosmoprof location for years, since 2006 or 2007, I am a regular customer and always friendly and never try to take advantage or ask for discounts or anything for free, however, Shelly (I believe the manager) just treated me like some kind of scavenger looking for free samples (even though my cart was full of other stuff I was buying. The other girls are always amazing and helpful, very friendly. Catherine, Vanessa (and I feel terrible I cant remember the other's name, but she has red/strawberry blonde hair, maybe megan?). They are so great, Catherine realized I was buying a whole bunch of stuff to put together as thank you bags for my clients, and offered me a few samples to supplement it, obviously recognizing that I'm a regular customer and always giving them my patronage. Shelly walked by shortly after, looked into my cart and saw the bag with samples and said "what do you have in there?!" I thought she was just making small talk (because she knows me well also, which is why it's even more of a shame that she treated me this way), and after I told her, she looked at me like it was my fault and I was trying to take something that wasn't mine and YANKED the bag out of my cart and very abrasively stated how I can't have these samples they are for all the other customers and I only get one. I told her I didn't ask for them, they were offered to me, and she acknowledged that and just walked away as I was speaking to her explaining why the other girl offered them to me, she kept her back turned on me and just kept walking away so I just didn't even finish what I was saying. SO RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL. Then she must have realized she was being rude and overeacted and came back and tried to offer me something else, and explain why I could only have one of those samples, somewhat apologetically but it was too late, it was clearly insencere and fake, and she was just trying to prevent me from bringing awareness to her awful attitude (like I am now). I've seen her get abrupt and rude like that with so many people before over the years that I've shopped there, she made me so upset I almost put everything I had in my cart back (the ONLY reason I didnt, was because I'm on a time crunch and didn't have time to drive to another cosmoprof). This was absolutely terrible customer service on her end and I've seen her that way so many times before. She tried to give me something else and I told her I didnt want anything. And I dont, i want nothing from her after she treated me that way. Something needs to be done with her terrible attitude and disrespectful mannerisms. Out of all the Cosmoprof Stores I've ever shopped in this is by far the worst! The cashier and manager were both rude. Not once did they ask if I needed help finding anything or choosing a product as clearly I was standing in the color aisle for quite sometime deciding on a product line. Once I did finally decide on a product and get to the register the cashier was busy speaking to the manager so i waited a few minutes then I said excuse me and was told she'll be there in a few minutes. Cashier came with her piercings, nose rings and hair color ....didn't greet me totaled my purchase took my money and proceeded to place my change on the counter after I placed my money in her hand. Very rude and impolite, the worst customer service I have experienced in a very long time and to be in Fairfax of all places. I have worked in Fairfax for a number of years and lived in Prince William County for over 20 years and I would definitely say I would much rather prefer to shop in the Woodbridge store where the people are at least nice. This place is absolutely amazing! So amazing that we wanted to actually buy something in it. Turns out, you can only shop here if you're a professional. You have to have a license. Why isn't that explicitly stated on the door? Or why don't they ask you if you have a license when you walk in?
