After entering, we received a warm welcome and began perusing the candies and treats. They were organized by time period and some interesting information was posted nearby and/or on the individual item. There were also gift sets. Some of the items were quite dusty and seemed as if they had been there for some time. A lot of the items were things that can be purchased in Cracker Barrel or in other old-timey candy stores elsewhere. They offer modern candy as well, but overall, I was underwhelmed. I was quite surprised to see historic candies so full of artificial dyes. That was an eye opener. I was kind of surprised at the signage throughout the store. The signs seemed basic when considered all the endorsements that the store has. Maybe the signs were made to look less modern. I didn't end up purchasing anything but was glad to visit.

In the end, we got our bill down to under $30 and just got four different things including some chocolate covered almonds for me (vacation food!) and both ginger and licorice for Mrs. K. Every themed duck you can imagine. The store has all these old & new candy options, soda bottles and drinks, even fudge. Jars and bins of anything sweet imaginable. A parking hint: there are a few parking garages situated in town because the meters are linked to a parking APP to pay with card or feed multiple quarters (25 cents for 10 minutes on Carlisle, Baltimore, York and Chambersburg! We got a blueberry pop tart, and some raspberry scones, along with a chocolate covered vanilla cupcake. Yummy! The only problem is that Henry's is not just a dessert bakery - the store may appear tiny on the outside, but it's huge on the inside. In addition to the bakery, they got all kinds of candy and other goodies for sale. I gotta stop back in another day and try all the other good stuff inside. Plus, you can tell from the Rick Astley-inspired sign outside, Henry's has a great sense of humor. This is exactly what small business brings to the neighborhood.
