I was exploring the area and happened to run across this store. This is the cutest store that sells a variety's of popcorn flavors and candy. The flavors range from the simple (butter) to the daring (Buffalo). I tried the Buffalo blue cheese and loved it. They also have sweet flavors. The employee was really nice and let me try multiple flavor samples to help me decide what I wanted. There are a lot of different candy options as well. Popcorn Monkey is located in Old Town Manassas on a corner spot right off the main thoroughfare. I stopped in to check it out recently for the first time to pick up some Popcorn for a college football Saturday get together. They carry a wide variety of popcorn "flavors" as well as all sorts of other snacks and candies. I may have gotten a little carried away - I ended up ordering the largest bag size of popcorn in their "crabby" flavor (think Old Bay), White Cheddar, Jalapeño, Texas Tornado, and Caramel Corn. All were tasty! The two folks running the place were very nice - I got the sense that they are a husband-wife team. I joked with the guy behind the counter that it would be cool if they offered "Brisket" flavored popcorn! His eyes got big as he imagined the taste-sensation possibilities! I have to admit... I was suckered in by the store's logo, a cute monkey wearing a striped hat, holding a handful of popcorn... Popcorn Monkey has a variety of flavored popcorn (such as Caramel Corn, Monkey Mix, Dill, Butter, Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt, Kettle Korn, White Chedder (how the place spells it), Chedder (how the place spells it), Texas Tornado, Buffalo Wing, Cornfetti, Cajun, Movie Butter, Seal Salt & Cracked Black Pepper, Old Crabby, and Denver Mix), a variety of tins (sports-related; if you bring it back, you get a discount on your refill), retro candy, shirts, as well as a case full of a modest selection of fudge (Chocolate Fudge, French Vanilla Fudge, Vanilla Chocolate Swirl Fudge, Orange Chocolate Swirl Fudge, Peanut Butter Fudge, Peanut Butter Chocolate Swirl Fudge, and Cookie Crush Fudge). The store is smaller than I thought, and I can see how visitors/tourists may find the tins as a great souvenir gift ideas or to make a basket of the retro candies available. I personally thought the price points were a bit on the exorbitant end, and seeing the finger imprints on the fudge slices were a little icky for me. She wasn't overly friendly, but not rude either. (Yet) As we walked through the little shop, I was so impressed with the selection of glass bottle sodas they had (and one in particular). I was curious about the flavor so I asked the person working there about it. Her response? "I don't know, I don't drink soda." Ugh.. damn. This is a sweets shoppe... Lie to me! Sell your product! My first time in, there was lady buying candy cigarettes for her aged mother who had a craving for a cig, OK, that will work. This is a family owned business and the Saturday I stopped in there was a fair amount of street traffic.The owners daughter, Jules, was there answering questions and running the register. They have a fair amount of various types of soda, from root beer, to Cheerwine. They are on the corned of Center Street and Main where the Art Galley was once located. It was great to stroll into Popcorn Monkey and have a friendly chat with the owners. Supporting local business in my community! I saw they carry Moxie, a soda originating from New England, but I was strongly warned not to buy it. I got a cold one and tried it before I left, it was good! It tasted like if you eat a root beer, cola, and Dr Pepper candy at the same time. I got a truffle and some fudge too, both were very good. It's urban, cute, but have that nostalgic feel. Candies, drinks, and a variety of throw back confections. Custom tins if popcorn, tee-shirts and an assortment of gifts. Just wanted to say the reply from the store owners was appreciated. I also understand that this virus is a huge deal and everyone should be extra careful. We wore masks in the store but noticed the staff that was present that day had no mask on so if we are talking safety then masks should have been worn by all. Like I said I love the store and am not saying the staff be it the owners or not shouldn't ask children to not touch or stand with the drink door open is a problem for me. I just felt uncomfortable knowing my son who is on the spectrum and has ADHD was going to be able to continue to control himself so I quickly bought my items and left. read more

Really wanted to like this place. I came in for the first time a couple weeks ago and got a little sampler size of dill pickle. It was expensive but was delicious. The woman helping seemed to be having a bad day... Came back for a gift and wanted a sweet savory combo and thought I would get one of their tinsn with 2 flavors. The tins I'm referring to are a normal size (3.5 gallons) that you would pick up at the holidays in any walmart, grocery store, etc... They offer several options of sports teams or one with their logo. It was $70!!!!! They do have different prices for 'premium popcorn' which today there were only 2 flavors of - both sweet. I wanted a sweet and savory combo, so got charged the premium price for the whole tin, which was significantly more. They wouldn't split the difference in price and instead just suggested I fill the whole tin with the premium sweet popcorn (which I didn't want). Further, their price list in the store contains 1, 2, and 3.5 gallon sizes. But in reality they don't carry the 2 gallon. So its either $28 for a one gallon of premium popcorn or $65 (excluding tax) for a 3.5 gallon (again, the size you can get in any chain store). So, oof. Ouch. I could maybe stomach $50 (which is still a huge markup, but you know, small business novelty prices). Further, the woman was again, quite cranky..... Further, when I came home and actually tried it, I wasn't impressed with the white cheddar. read more

This was hands down the best popcorn I've ever had...and let me tell you I'm a picky popcorn eater. I will literally only eat one brand of popcorn and I am a popcorn SNOB! I was at a local brewery that doesn't sell food as part of their menu. The Popcorn Monkey shop was selling bags of popcorn. I initially only got 1 bag and then decided to try it and went back for 3 more bags. The flavor I got was a cheddar/caramel mix which I know sound strange but is delicious. Wonderful shop with delicious popcorn! It's a cute and charming store in downtown Manassas. Service was fantastic, the shop is fairly small so with the pandemic there is a limit to the number of people who can enter. Kids went crazy, lots of choices of olde time candy. Popcorn was decent, not fantastic. Loved the tins with the sports logos (we used ours as a garbage can for my man cave). The fudge was hard. My wife noticed this when the cashier was cutting into the fudge, but went ahead to purchase to give it a try. There were hard granules within the fudge..also it was really pricey. I would not recommend this place. Go to cracker barrel for better prices and fresher fudge. Wife says Middleburg popcorn monkey location is better. read more

It was super expensive and the workers weren't very friendly to my children. They set up bottles of glass soda bottles on the bottom shelves and all the candy on the shelves above, and didn't want them touching the candy for fear they'd knock over the glass bottles. It's a candy store for crying out loud! They were stingy with the samples of popcorn (I didn't want to buy an expensive bag of popcorn without trying it first and they only let us have two samples). Overall I wasn't very impressed and won't be returning. There are better candy/popcorn stores out there! read more

This was my second time visiting this store with my daughter (Tuesday, March 17th). Cute little store with throwback candies and other novelties. My daughter loves going in here to browse as some of the candy and other items she has never seen before. The couple that owns the store is very nice and professional. They make all of their popcorn as well as the fudge. My daughter and I got a small slice of the peanut butter/chocolate fudge and smore's. It was extremely tasty. I will say though that that the owners are very professional as while my daughter and I were there a lady with her four children were in the store. One of the ladies children had placed his mouth all over the outside wrapping and the stick of a lollipop. The lady (one of the owners) who was working very politely informed the mother that she would need to purchase the lollipop due to the fact that her child had his mouth on it and as we as a community are dealing with the virus pandemic. The mother bluntly and very rudely refused to pay for it and then marched her children out of the store. Unfortunately this is a loss for the store as the lollipop had to be thrown away. I was in total shock as to the way this mother acted towards the owner. The right thing would have been to pay for the lollipop and apologize as this is your child. As a parent you are responsible for their actions while out and about. The owner handled the situation very well, respectfully, and professionally.
