On March 28th 2021, we checked out this store. It is not our first time here, but the store has upgraded its merchandise. We were never approached and asked if we needed help...wait, one woman did. We were just looking, but did not find anything we needed. I did get a glance at some of the foot moisturizers and my thoughts of the foot cream I used a few weeks ago came to mind. My severely dry feet came out looking good. It's an ongoing thing and the my feet seem to like being dry. Aside from the foot cream packages, I did not see a product I needed to aquire at the time. I did; however like the big photo of of Asian woman...she could stop looking at me:) She might follow me home....seriously, I might come back here for the foot cream in about two weeks time. Extremely helpful staff. Introduced me to cica via the Dr G line which has helped with my hormonal breakouts. The Dr G combined with the Vitamin C serum the staff pointed me too has done a lot to help my skin. Korean beauty I find gentler and easier for my skin to adapt to-your results may vary. The only face shop for many, many miles. I absolutely love the products at the FS. These are the only products that exfoliate, provide moisture and do not irritate my skin. Every few months I take the pilgrimage from southern Virginia to northern Virginia to stock up on products. The trip is more than worth it. They have products for the entire family. They have a men's and a children's line both are gentle and have very light pleasant scents. Everything is priced well. FS sells face masks, to nail polish. All of you let beauty needs can be met in one store. FS stores are notoriously small but they have many products to choose from. Parking here is a hit or miss as the store is in a busy shopping mall. My initial experience was fine. I came in with my sister in law and I got matched with the Tir Tir cushion foundation. I purchased it and went home. I came back to exchange the foundation because the color the lady told me matched was way too light on me and on the receipt it said no refunds but that exchanges are accepted no more than 14 day after purchase. I go this time by myself and I felt I was being watched every corner I go. My sister in law is asian and I don't know if it's because I was with her before that I wasn't treated that way then but it made me feel very uncomfortable. I was ready to check out and I asked if I could exchange and the lady asked if I opened it and I said yes. She then said I couldn't exchange. I pointed out that the receipt doesn't say anything about open product not accepted for exchange. She got her manager and she told me the same thing even though I pointed out the flaw in their return/exchange policy on the receipt. I won't be returning. read more

Horrible. Do you enjoy being treated like a thief? Watched and followed every step you take? Well then, you have just found your gem! They'll make you happy by giving you their A-game of treating you like a convicted felon thief. I swear to god, I wasn't planning to steal anything here. Having just spent $356 dollars at Tony Moly Bio ex for skincare, I assure you I can afford anything here and of the two, the faceshop is the cheaper one. But the store clerk asked me in Korean what I was looking for (I speak Korean a little) and I replied in English. Somehow this was the trigger. She followed me every single step I took, gave me looks, made me feel like I did something wrong, was extremely uncomfortable to shop or try things freely. Constantly being watched and verbally asking to put down the nail polish I was gonna get, so that she can put it by the register for me to pay was outright disrespectful. I regret having still made a $27 purchase here. But NEVER again. It's an inferior product compared to other brands and horrible service, why on earth would I come back. Highly recommend to stay away if you like to have some dignity and be treated like a valued customer. And now that I read some reviews, I'm not even the only one who felt and treated this way. The Face Shop is a great place to grab K-beauty essentials, such as sheet masks and skincare. I love their various sheet masks, which are usually buy five for $20 (or something similar). I have dry skin so the honey is my favorite, but there are several options so that you can find one that fits your skin concerns. I also love the acid exfoliator for feet. It's cheaper than Baby Foot and works just as well, if not better. The staff is very friendly and the store is welcoming. I love Korean skincare. The packaging is always so cute and simple. They have nail polish but it's not as cheap as the ones in NYC. They do however have a nail polish stamp card so make sure you ask for one! :) DO NOT get the base coat nail polish for glitter nail polish. The base coat is basically like glue and the nail polish chips or gets off too quickly. i like my nail polish to stay on nicely for more than 2 days. Service is great! read more

I LOVE Tony Moly but this might be my new favorite Korean beauty shop in Annandale! They have SO MANY types of face masks including ones with cute animals on them (and SANTA for Christmas!!) and they do a BUNCH of deals where if you buy so many you get one or two for free. They have loads of cosmetics and other beauty products too. With my purchase I got some CC cream samples and a serum sample. I LOVED the serum so I will definitely be back at some point to buy the full size. The service was very friendly and helpful. They helped my friend pick out some new products. I love Korean skincare products and have been on a dedicated Asian skincare routine for years. However, given that these products are a rarity in the States, shops like The Faceshop are a godsend. Sometimes, you can't always trust what you buy on Amazon for Asian skincare products so coming here gives me a piece of mind knowing that they're authentic Faceshop products. The storefront isn't too big, but it's very organized and bright. There are signs on both walls that tell you what products are below, whether it's skincare, body care, women or men. The saleswoman was very polite and recommended several different products once I told her I had dry/oily combo skin. From sheet masks, cleansing foams, toners, cleansing oils, body creams, and even makeup like mascara and nail polish, The Faceshop has it all! I picked up some much-needed sheet masks ($2-3 each) in green tea, mung bean, and olive. The store was doing a promotion on cleansing foams (buy one, get one free) so I picked one lemon and one acerola. At the saleslady's recommendation, I also picked up a hydrating seaweed sleeping pack. She threw in samples of a green tea toner and lotion kit and a whitening essence at the end of my purchase. My total for 4 sheet masks, two cleansing foams, one sleeping pack, and two samples came out to be a little over $30. What a deal! I've already started to use the acerola cleansing foam and it's wonderful. I can't wait to try the sheet masks. I've been using My Beauty Diary sheet masks and they're good, but I am eager to try these. The Faceshop products are high-quality, natural and reliable. They are more known for their skincare products than makeup products, but I wouldn't hesitate to try the makeup. When I purchased my items, I also signed up for their rewards card. They also send out emails when they do promotions, which I think is fairly often. I absolutely love coming here to buy sheet masks. The price point for Korean beauty products are cheaper here than compared to Sephora/Ulta. They even have deals such as free sheet masks if you purchase a certain amount. There are also gift bundles for even more savings. I am also a sucker for cute packaging which is the trademark of Korean beauty! The store is well organized and there is plenty of signage for those who like myself do not read Korean. Products are grouped by brand and type (ex. sheet masks are on one wall and then separated by brand). Cosmetics are in the middle of the store and there are testers for each product. You are greeted immediately upon entering the store and the staff are friendly and ready to assist. Upon checking out, the store associates were very generous with giving me samples! They even gave me samples for my husband who was there waiting patiently :) One thing I will point out is that everything is final sale so take your time shopping and carefully read all the labels. Last time I was here, I bought a few of the $2 facemasks (they are one time use masks that come in variations like acai berry, green tea, etc.). I also got a really great foaming face wash (Rice Bran) that leaves my skin super smooth and moisturized! I love, love, love it - especially in the mornings because I've found it almost doubles as a primer. I think their specialty is skin care, but there are other well-priced, quality cosmetics such as eye liner, nail polish, lip stick, etc. I'd say these cosmetics are comparable to drug-store brands and probably a bit better quality. I've been to this chain store for half a year now; I live 0.5 miles away from it and this is the golden spot for me to buy genuine korean cosmetic products (and free shipping woohoo), so I went to this store frequently. I'll be honest. I hate it when employees are all over you. Especially cause Im korean I know how much this can be annoying. My tip for you is to be just comfortable in their annoying customer service. If they ask you for help and you dont need it, then just say "thanks but Im just looking around." They will leave you alone from that point onwards, unless you approach them for help. As for PRODUCTS: its a hit or miss. Their cc cushion, sunscreen, moisturizing cream (the clear gelatin-like moisturizing cream) and face masks are decent. Their lip tints and lipsticks are good too but not worth the money. Everything else kinda sucks. I had their serum+emulsion+moisturizing cream set once and it sucks. (Any kind of SETS on SALE are not good. They are cheap for a reason) Also, their products on amazon, if at a noteable difference in price, are almost always fake. So things like cc cushion and sunscreen I definitely recommend you to buy them in-store. The only thing that may be annoying if you're someone like me is that they hover around you and ask you if you need anything a lot. Some may take this as good customer service but for me it's a little much. It's nice and bright inside, everything is neatly organized into sections. I went here for a cushion. I've been having some crazy skin issues and I needed something to cover it up, but not normal foundation. They have limited colors, I'm pretty fair, but it worked out. It's hard to make me with a 30 shade range honestly. There was one person watching over the store and two ladies huddled together looking at things. I know a lot of reviews talk about how the salespeople hover and watch like a hawk, but honestly (and I've worked in retail) I'd watch some of the people I've seen in this area too. I know it's not a great feeling when it's you, but there are some shady characters out there. However, I wasn't bothered as I looked, but I did have to ask the salesperson a couple of questions. She was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, friendly. I mean we don't have plans to braid each other's hair this weekend, but I was very happy with the service I received. Ain't no shame in my korean skin care game. Ok let's be honest this place is next to where my korean women man-handle my body, and where I get tasty korean chinese food, AND where I get potbingsu so it's ultra convenient. And awesome. I came in here the first time on a whim, after being abused next door by the spa-ajummas. I was out of foundation so I decided to see what they had to offer. Next thing I knew I had bought myself some CC cream and some asian facial masks to make me bootifull. Then I ran out. I returned to buy more only to find out that you can buy refills and don't have to get a whole new package again! Awesome. This appeals to both my green-ness and my wallet. Korea, you rock. Meanwhile, the bf was admiring the visage of a foxy korean man in an advertisement as well as the men's line of skin care next to it before we left. So, I snuck back again to buy him that product for christmas and a gift for my step mom. Can't stop. Won't stop. Now I'm just waiting for my things to run out so I can return to buy more! I've been here twice now, after deciding to look around and get some Korean products for my skin. I like that it's in a nice area in the general vicinity of other things I'd go to. They have good stock of products, decent price range. I was able to find a lot of things I'd want to use and bought a few things. I like their face mask sheet collection, very extensive. The employees are nice, and although I'm Korean, my speaking skills aren't great and so I liked that they're bilingual. Although I think they must have thought I wasn't Korean. Only reason I wouldn't give them more stars is that I don't particularly enjoy being watched over. My first visit, it wasn't as bad..however my second visit made me very uncomfortable. For full disclosure, I was the only customer in the store, wearing sweats and a hoodie, however I felt incredibly awkward with the younger employee just standing and watching. She asked if I needed help twice in 5 minutes, then continued to just stand at the end of the aisle I was in, as to where I could constantly see her in my peripheral vision. I asked her a few questions about their products to make it less uncomfortable, but after several minutes, I picked what I (kind of) wanted, and left. Went to the Face Shop to find a nice face scrub. I came out with the White Seed foaming face scrub, green tea toner, and a sheet honey mask and some samples. The ladies were nice and like the previous reviewer said, the woman wasn't exactly able to help me with finding products that were right for my skin concerns. When I asked about an oil free toner, I was pointed to the green tea toner. The label says "oil free", however, when I got home, I started reading the ingredients and realized that there was actually oil in the list of ingredients (why is this mislabeled??). There was a little upselling, but it wasn't too aggressive, but I felt like I was being watched and I wasn't completely comfortable browsing the store. The store was clean and well lit. I felt they had a nice variety of products for you to choose from. Why is this place so bright?! Came here and all I saw was how bright the lighting of the store was. I whispered to my bf "oh great all the flaws on my face are going to accentuate". And it sure did... Kinda felt uncomfortable here since the sales associate didn't really care to make conversation or ask if I needed help. One of my biggest regrets when I was in Korea last year was not buying more skincare and makeup products. (I didn't have the luggage space for it anyway.) So I was super thrilled when The Faceshop opened a location in Annandale a few months ago. The store is very bright, clean, and welcoming. Each time I've been, the sales staff have been more than friendly and haven't pressured me into buying anything at all. They don't follow me around the store and make me feel uncomfortable and they're always eager to help when I ask for it :)! I told them that I have pretty sensitive and dry skin, and so they make sure to recommend items that suit my skin type and also warn me of other products to stay away from. That's pretty awesome since it shows that they actually care about me being satisfied with my purchase instead of just allowing me to buy things so that they can profit. And so far, I have been extremely satisfied with everything that I've purchased. They're pretty generous with samples and you can ask them for samples so that you can test it out before you make the commitment since they do have a pretty strict policy about returns (NO returns & you can only make an exchange if the item is not open or used). read more

Face shop offers high quality moderately priced beauty products. Located right behind sheilas and a few storefronts down from suns spa, it's in the perfect location for pampering. Parking can get tough in the evenings when everyone's rushing for desserts and baked goods. On my visit, the clerk was incredibly nice and super helpful. She showed me around the masks and various face products. Though she was happy to help me sample whatever I needed, she had a hard time recommending products to fit my specific skin concerns. I wasn't incredible impressed with the cosmetics section though I purchased a primer which is supposed to be the best selling one in Korea! I'd recommend checking out Tony moly further West for makeup. I bough a few masks, pose strips and a cleanser as well. The pore strips were no better than biore. They have a section of a wall dedicated to all their face masks that were on sale for buy 5 get 1 free (some were buy 3 get 1 free). They have a mask to target any skin problem you have. The store associate hovered behind for a bit but it wasn't enough to make me feel uncomfortable. She wasn't pestering or anything. They give out free samples with every purchase based on your skin type. They also have a free sample of men's toner and emulsion for my boyfriend who was with me. It's an immaculate store, beautifully lit with lots of white and green, and there's always some kind of promotion going on. The women who work there are all very nice and polite, and keep me up to date on points accumulated in their rewards system. I never feel pressured to buy anything, and while some employees can be a little too helpful (hovering around you), I know it's just because they're new so I don't really mind it. MAKEUP: I particularly love this store because of the makeup - I love Korean beauty and am always trying to emulate it, so when I found out they had a new BB cream dark enough for my skin tone I was hooked. (If you're close to a Mac NC43, try it! It's the Face It Power Perfection BB Cream.) Korean BB cream is no joke, it has the coverage of a good foundation, and all the other products I've purchased are awesome, too. The price points of their products are for all budgets: Lipstick for $8 or $24, BB cream for $14 or $40, eye shadow pods for $6, blush for $12, and lip pencils for even less. SKINCARE: Just like the makeup, some fall into the spend and others in the splurge category. Creams for $47 or $20, emulsions for $12 or $22, mists for $6 or $12, cleansing creams for $7, foam cleansers for $6-9. Even their body products are well-priced - whipped body souffle in yummy scents for $5, perfumes for $12+. More importantly, they work - their green tea line has been good for my oily skin. From my experience, The Face Shop gives the most samples out of any Korean roadshop brand that I've shopped at, at least two or three every time you shop there. Really happy with this store. I've been trying to find a good sunscreen for my face for years. All standard brands are way too heavy and greasy and I have found that even the ones formulated for a sensitive face are too heavy as well. I hated wearing sunscreen because I'd break out. The Face Shop has a great aqua gel sun screen that's very light and doesn't make me break out. They also have great makeup too. The staff is friendly and eager to help.
