I have decided to sent any prescriptions to the CVS a couple blocks up Little River because this has gotten ridiculous. Where it is the robo calls to my doctor for refills I didn't request (& that resulted the doctor's office calling me expressing concern) or waiting to be graced with an open checkout (not kidding stood in line with folks growing behind me waiting for one of the two staff at the empty registers to take a checkout, and before you think they were helping someone they were not, they were discussing something but there was no customer communication, not even an acknowledgment and request to wait a little longer). & we haven't talked about the parking lot & traffic. Getting in & out of this location can be challenge. Don't let the address fool you, it is very close to where Little River & Columbia Pike meet & backs up to the one way block of Columbia Pike. I'll be going elsewhere for any drug store needs going forward. If you use this the location, may the odds be ever in your favor. read more

It works in a pinch. 236 and Annandale can lead to needing aspirin. Am glad they have it here, and usually one of the major brands is on sale. Chocolate bars are here too, and they can be of service. They also have energy drinks which I avoid, but on a hot day cold bottled water helps. Also if you catch it at the correct time, their generic version of Zyrtec allergy medicine helps with the pollen count. This is a nice looking store. If not mistaken it has to be less than ten years old. The location can be tricky due to non drivers and traffic volume. Admittedly this is organized chaos, but with extra commitment you can get in here. Their prices are usually lower than CVS. Nice and friendly employees at this location. read more

The pharmacist and pharmacy staff here suck. I called numerous times to make sure that they had my wife's prescription and I was told that they had it. When I finally for the prescription sent over (90 mins later) they said they never had it. Forget the at my wife needs the meds and was experiencing side effects from not having her meds. Others were trying to get meds and they wouldn't even take a prescription for pickup the next day because they closed in 10 mins. What utter lack of care for people, their health, and general understanding. Can I give less than 1 star? The pharmacist wouldn't even talk to me. I didn't even yell cause that doesn't solve anything or get me meds but refused to at least talk to me about his obvious lies. They didn't even want to call around to see if other Walgreens had it. Apparently nothing is more important than closing early. Don't go here if you care about your loved one's health. Cause in a post-COVID world, why would you want help with medical care, right? read more

I used to use this pharmacy a few years ago, but stopped because of the dysfunctional nature of the place. I recently had to pick up a prescription there because I had one Doctor who had not updated my preferred pharmacy. They never seem to have enough people working. The wait remain long, always. Drive-throughs and phone calls get priority over the people waiting in line. They never seem to have prescriptions ready. Often in the the past we got robo-calls saying that our prescriptions were ready for pick up, only to find out that there was some problem with the prescription. Making you drive out for nothing. Don't shop at this store. They remain totally dysfunctional. Don't believe what they tell you on the phone. Often they gave a different story when you show up. read more

The parking lot is always full of cars but it is almost always empty inside when I go. Staff is always friendly and its never hard to find an employee to help you find an item. Its a great alternative to CVS across the street which is always busy. I haven't had much luck with the pharmacy but the store itself is clean and has most items you'll need from a drug store. Love Walgreens and all the fun things you can find there, along with necessities of course. They customer service is always exceptional; warm, welcoming, and uber friendly! I only have glowing experiences for the customer service. My 4 star is simply because this particular location is so small that they don't have much of a selection. I really love the one on Main Street in Fairfax. It's much bigger and has way more cool things to peruse. As for Annandale, it will be my go-to for quick, immediate needs. I really like this Walgreens. I go there a lot since it is close to my house. It's always neat and organized and the store is brand new. They also have the best deals when it's orange tag clearance time. This location has a photo section and pharmacy. It is not very big so it's for essentials only but I generally find what I need. I do like that they started putting a sign in the window when they are out of COVID tests. That way you don't even have to get out of your car and go inside to ask. The staff has always been helpful. read more

The store itself is nice and new. It's never really busy in here like CVS across the street. Items are well stocked and the staff is nice here. Never had a problem with this store. However, it is confusing to even get into the parking lot for this place. There are two signs that say 'Wrong way' and it threw me off twice. If you have Tricare save yourself the hassle and just go to SafeWay to get your prescription filled. For three days I went here trying to get an uncommon prescription filled and each day they told me it would be ordered and in for pick up the following day. When asked what my copay would be they couldn't give me an answer until they physically had the item in stock. I then said ok, and that I would take my hard prescription and in the meantime go search for prices and in-stock at other locations that take my insurance. Finally I went to another Walgreens to find out that the only Walgreen that had this particular medication was a 40 minute drive and they do NOT ship from store to store (which explains why each time I went to this one I was told it would be in tomorrow and was not). This is not to even mention that each time I went here, I waited in line for close to an hour each time. To add to the frustration, customers who are getting their COVID shots are allowed to jump in front of those waiting in the pharmacy line as they do not have dedicated staff to attend to them. This makes for a very very long line and waiting time. I'm not sure what Walgreens did with the money it got from the government contract it won from CVS but they clearly must have not received enough to increase their staffing. Also why in the world can I go everywhere else and get an insurance copay price for an Rx being order BUT Walgreens?!?!? Lowest bidding contract and good enough for government work epic fails. read more

I switched from CVS across the street to Walgreens. However, each time I have gone I approach a counter with no one there!! It is usually a half hour wait. Usually a person walks back and forth beyond the counter not even making eye contact. I've let twice. Today, I left and went to the drive thru. Think I'll switch back to CVS. At least with the wait somebody makes eye contact. read more

Two years later I would like to change my review that this Walgreen's has gotten better. I only go here because the CVS across the street is still utterly slow and still too packed when getting prescriptions. This Walgreens is clean and nice. Service is always friendly. My one complaint is can they get rid of those yellow bumper sticks at the drive through window? I mean seriously why is it needed? Your car can easily get scratched if you're not careful driving past it. I've been hesitant to use the drive through window because of this and often walk-in now to get prescriptions, but with kids in tow sometimes this is utterly annoying to have to worry about your car getting scratched! read more

This used to be my go to pharmacy, they had great hours and great service. But, recently they changed their hours and the waits have gotten pretty unbearable to pick up and drop off meds. They tried to deny filling a script one night at 10pm because they said they were closing soon -- when I pointed out that they weren't closing for two more hours, they were like oh.... ok, if you want to wait an hour we'll fill this. It's an easily filled super generic script that takes mere moments to fill most everywhere I've dropped it off before. But, apparently in an empty pharmacy at 10pm it takes an hour. Not cool. Tonight was the last straw, when I stopped by the pharmacy at 6:05pm on Sunday -- and the pharmacy was completely shuttered closed. 5 mins after 6pm on a weekend? You've got to be kidding me. Their new hours apparently close the pharmacy at 6pm both Saturday and Sunday -- yknow, those days when the majority of people are out running errands. Will be taking my family's prescriptions elsewhere! read more

**This review is only for my photo lab experience** I had to get two digital photos printed out for my engagement party and decided to stop by this Walgreens after grocery shopping nearby. After some confusion with the machine (it wouldn't upload the pictures from my USB thumbdrive even though it kept "reading" my media device), I ended up having to get my iPhone cable from the car to upload the pictures from my phone. After that was done, the machine quoted me for 20 minutes for my pictures to print. Not a problem, I could shop around the store to kill some time. I went up to the register to pickup and pay and I was told by the store manager that there were two orders in front of me so the photos wouldn't be done for another hour or more (despite showing him the confirmation with the pick-up time) and walked away. Another associate saw how flustered I looked and offered to help, but after asking the same manager, there was nothing he could do and the associate apologized for the situation (+1 star to him!). I asked the manager to cancel my order, which he gave attitude about... and went to the CVS across the street and was able to print out my photos instantly with no issues. The photo processing here seems inefficient. What's the point of doing everything on the computer and receiving a processing time (it should've said "estimated wait" instead) when the photos won't be done if the orders in front of you are large? Even if I wasn't on a time crunch, I would've still been annoyed. read more

I love this 'particular' Walgreens.... they are open 24/7. They are a short 15 min drive from my home in Burke. Yes, there is a Walgreens just 5 minutes away but they do not have the full service photo service that I frequently need. This Walgreens does custom photo cards in less than 24 hours and I can pick it up within a day. I can also just pay when I pick up, no need to enter a credit card or prepay. The card quality is on gloss paper but when I am such a procrastinator and need that 'personalized Mother's Day' or other personal card, then this is my go-to 'what a touching personal card place'. read more

This location woud not let my husband exchange a brand new unopened box of Well Beginnings Diapers or Well Beginnings Wet Wipes. Yes, I understand we didnt have the receipt (it was baby shower gift) but Well Beginnings is the Walgreens store brand so it obviously came from a Walgreens. The wipes had also been recently recalled and it was all over the news that we should be able to return them. We would have been glad to take store credit and become customers of this new location, but instead both the employee and the manager said no returns without a receipt. I HIGHLY doubt this is a corporate policy so I'll have to hope that Walgreens steps in and educates their employees on how to provide better customer service and welcome new customers. read more

Ever heard on their ads about shorter lines and waits? Wrong! I felt sorry for cashier she doesn't seem to know what she's doing...waited 15 minutes to purchase a flash card for school!! No backups calls IC3...Never wanting to come back again to this location.... Somehow this Walgreens makes the CVS across the street look like a shining star. Until Walgreens moved in that CVS was the biggest disgrace of all pharmacies in the area. It seems now have a new pharmacy in this Walgreens to hold that dubious distinction. Horrendous customer service, horrible and lengthy wait times, insufficient medication supplies are all hallmarks of this miserable place. Stay away. Ugh...this used to be my favorite in and out pharmacy/convenience store. Then they changed their hours for both and the wait time at the pharmacy has gotten longer and longer. Must be cutting staff...I have also noticed that they aren't as stocked up on regular items (i.e., soda) as I come here. Sadly, probably time to exhaust my rewards points I've earned and move on to somewhere else...sad...I guess all good things come to an end! read more

Recently moved to the area and was happy to see that this pharmacy is close by and although other experience may have been terrible, mine thus far have been pleasant. I don't need a bunch of people asking me if I need help or if they can help me - I'm capable of doing that on my own. Also, I have had instances where they were unable to find a prescription but the employees were decent enough to take their time and see how they could help me. There have been times where I have had to come back the next day so although it was a pain...it was a ROYAL pain the only thing that made up for it was that it close by. Also, I've found the walgreens to be slightly cheaper than CVS so I tend to be okay with walgreens. read more

I stopped by, 2 minutes ago, to get a prescription refill and had the worse experience ever. The pharmacist was just a plain rude, unprofessional, and careless person. It's almost midnight and I need to have my meds, he simply didn't care when I STATED that I wanted to wait. He basically expected me to wait for 1-2 hours, it's ridiculous to say the least. I run a non profit and when here to buy items for bags we are making for kids. With having a non profit we have to stretch every dollar. So I went there with my handy dandy coupon book ready to buy items. When I was ready for check out the clerk said I have to call the manager. When she call the manager she said "this girl is up here trying to use a while bunch of coupons". The manager, and I use this term lightly Byron came up. He had on a wrinkled shirt half tucked in. He looked like he just got out the bed. He informed us that we could not use the coupons. I informed he that this was advertised and should be honored. Even though the system was generating the coupons and accepting them correct he said they was not going to take them. read more

The pharmacists at this Walgreens managed to give me the wrong MG of my anti-depressant medication. I even took it home (it did not occur to me to check my MG since I have been filling the same prescription for the past 6 months) and almost ingested it. HUGE FAIL - then when I tried to explain how serious it was and how much damage they could have inflicted by this little mishap, they acted as if they could not be bothered by it and chalked up my reaction to being "crazy" and then had the audacity to ask if my medication was working... The guy I talked to who checked out my medication and "dealt" with me on the phone said that I should have checked it before I took it from the pharmacy... What in the fresh hell planet is he from? I'm not sure of their names but the Asian girl with the long hair was the one who asked about the effectiveness of my medication and the person who I spoke to on the phone and in person was a skinny tall white guy who appeared totally deadpan/no personality/zero customer service skill. I hate this store/pharmacy. It's almost worth dealing with CVS across the street - at least the pharmacists there are nicer and not jaded/lazy/incompetent 20-somethings who have zero zeal for life and no aspiration to be anything better than trifling Walgreen's employees. :) read more

Ok, so I went back on Wednesday after getting my spinal cord stimulator removed and came back with my monthly Percocet refill, albeit a higher strength than what I was given post-op and well past my normal refill window. After the hassle the previous Friday and how uncomfortable I felt, I was just not up to fighting with these folks. I prayed I would get the normal pharmacist but womp womp - got the same lady who gave me grief the previous Friday. I was like "Look - I don't know if you remember me but we had words a few days ago when you wouldn't fill my prescription that I received less than two hours after spinal cord surgery - I just got this one filled and it's my normal refill amount. I am in serious pain from having metal rods pulled from my back and being electrocuted at low voltages for five days from it. Is there going to be an issue here?" She asked me if I had any clinical notes from my visit that day and I said no - I have never had to present my notes before and I wasn't going to start now. I gave her the doctor's card and showed her the photo of what all the equipment looked like that I'd had removed, and apparently she decided it either wasn't worth it or she noticed that I'd had that same prescription filled every month around the same time period for the last six months so she relented. She did seem interested though in my overall well being and how the trial thing I had worked. Part of it I think may have been a language barrier - she is Asian and didn't seem to follow all of the terms. The other two pharmacists I deal with are from the US (not profiling - we've talked and gotten to know each other). I couldn't wait the half hour she wanted me to because I had to get to work, so I went back and picked it up in the afternoon. I got a text message as soon as it was filled (ironically about the time I got to work) that it was ready but I wasn't going back to get it just then. I still prefer this store and this pharmacy over any other Walgreen I've dealt with because the staff is for the most part friendly, well trained, and have bent over backwards to help me when I have an issue.
