This is an update to a prior review. I've been back two more times since, once for dinner and once for lunch. We visited today for lunch and had fantastic service. I really enjoyed the Bikini roll. I'm not one to usually go for a special complicated roll. This one is king crab wrapped in cucumber and topped with mango salsa. I thought it was fantastic. Very light and refreshing. The staff was really nice and attentive! I would give the customer service a 5/5 however the food was another story. We started off with the wasabi shumai which was amazing and left us with false hope for the rest of the meal. I ordered Sushi Sashimi, Spicy Tuna Roll, Shrimp Tempura, and the Bentley Roll. When the food arrived to my table it smelled very fishy which is a telltale sign of it not being right. The sashimi was chewy and hard to swallow along with the spicy tuna and bentley roll. I can't really speak so much for the indoor dining experience since I had ordered this from doordash but so far from what I've experienced, I wouldn't even bother with going there. First of all, I politely asked for some extra dressing with my house salad and I was just automatically charged $2.35 and not even a notice which I'm fine with, just annoyed. Second, I ordered the Wellington roll and the salmon that was on top was very pale in color and tasted fishy. The maguro (tuna) sushi was very fishy as well and almost tasted like the ocean and was very poorly made. The rice that was put underneath was colored red almost like a rare steak was put on top and that never should happen even though it's tuna and they only provided a pinch of rice and the tuna seemed like it was supposed to be from scrap to make spicy tuna and was folded! The spicy tuna had absolutely little to no spicy mayo and was just a tuna roll with the bad parts of the tuna. I'm not sure if was because I got delivery that I was sent such horrid pieces of fish but even so, that is absolutely unacceptable. It is also very overpriced for what it is, just go to a Chinese food place and get their sushi, I guarantee that it'll be much better than here. TLDR: awful taste, bad presentation, overpriced, and lack of communication. read more

Loved this place and just found it! Ok, I'm slow. Was very impressed with my deluxe sashimi dinner and with the appearance and taste of my wife's tempura chicken and avocado appetizer in a large cocktail glass. Wine glasses were James Beard level impressive and we will be back in a hurry to this local gem. read more

I was thrilled to finally try "the best sushi around". We went for lunch and I got the sake lunch meal that comes with salmon sushi and a spicy tuna roll. This place is totally worth the hype. My salmon was melt in your mouth delicious. I don't want to go anywhere else after having such quality sushi. The servers were delightful and the chefs seemed to love their job. My husband and I are certainly coming back for dinner to try some more. read more

Sadly the take out service at Blue Fin is impossible to risk again. Jenny is sweet but sorry doesn't cut an hour wait for a couple of sushi rolls and entrees. We are all for supporting local businesses during the pandemic and even added a huge tip for the holiday season, but over an hour waiting in your car for food is absolutely unacceptable. Regardless of how good the food (hopefully) is. Sorry Blue Fin, you have to figure it out. So disappointed. read more

I actually feel very guilty for not reviewing Bluefin Eagleview earlier. This is by far my favorite restaurant. My husband and I would travel an hour to this place, but we are lucky enough to live right near by. Sushi this delicious, at this price, in this ambiance is unbelievable. A friend and I met at Bluefin for dinner a few nights ago and we were blown away by the extraordinary service and quality of the food. Shortly after ordering our first round of food (seaweed salad and California rolls), the food arrived on the table. The chef prepares everything to order and works incredibly fast! We barely had time to uncork our wine! ( It is BYOB...yay!) Then our main course arrived which, for me, was the Chicken Katsu special with Asian slaw and perfectly-cooked white rice (wish they had brown rice but oh well...) My friend ordered two different raw rolls and she reported that it was the best sushi she had ever had! If I had one suggestion, it would be to improve the ambience a bit. Perhaps some mood lighting and good Asian-inspired music playing softly in the background would fit the bill. Other than that, I have nothing but compliments for this wonderful, new establishment. This is a nicely appointed restaurant in a beautifully maintained suburban shopping/residential area. Parking is plentiful. The food was fresh in nicely prepared. Unfortunately, the server failed to listen to our order and delivered other than what we requested. When confronted, she denied this and started to argue with me. Food is good but placing an order for pickup after being told it will be ready in 40 minutes but end up waiting for over an 1.5 hours is ridiculous. Only reason it's 4 and not 5 is cause I don't want people thinking it's a paid review this place is really good every time we go we end up always getting out of hand with the food. get the drunk scallops and veggie and shrimp Tampura. Some how my partner and I managed to consistently end up ordering a ridiculous amount of fresh and delicious seafood never feeling bloated or gross afterward this place is amazing and can easily becoming a pricy outing but is worth it. always clean and the food is always consistent. Best sushi we've had since we've moved to Pennsylvania from Florida. Our favorite, hand's down, was the Bikini Roll (king crab in cucumber topped with mango salsa) - so fresh and light! We also really loved the beef avo maki appetizer - much better than traditional negi maki with scallions and using the New York strip made it so tender. Oh my - we were SO disappointed with our sushi lunch today. First time to Bluefin and we were impressed with the decor and the menu and had high hopes. The edamame appetizer was right on target but the Dragon Roll was poorly designed and tasted lousy. The Hamachi-scallion roll was not tasty either. Unagi & hamachi sashimi was decent. I have enjoyed Japanese cuisine since I was 10 years old and have tried Japanese restaurants from New York to San Francisco to Tokyo and I must say without question Blue Fin is one of my favorites anywhere! The quality of the fish is head and shoulders above and if you order the Omakase (Chef's Choice) you will certainly be in for a special treat. My wife is not a sushi fan so it's great that they offer hot-cooked traditional dinners that are fabulous.I have taken friends there and repeatedly hear that it is the best Japanese food they have ever had! No one should complain that the food may be slightly higher in price than your average sushi restaurant because this is not your average sushi restaurant. Go! Ok so I'd call myself a pretty experienced sushi-diner. I've been to restaurants all over. From Montreal, Canada, to San Diego, CA, and many places in between. I've seen AND eaten it all! Living in PA, it's hard to find a good sushi restaurant. I'd say my family and I have settled on certain places around here but we've never really felt like we found "the one". There were always little things that made those restaurants just "ok". After dining at Bluefin in Eagleview tonight for dinner, I can finally say we've found a winner! The service was near perfect with a very friendly and well-timed server. We ordered a plethora of sushi and our favorites were the salmon and red snapper sushi. We also ordered the Tropic Roll, and would definitely recommend that to those who love spicy tuna. Also, the rice was fabulous. The ratio of rice to fish in the sushi was perfect (almost a 40:60 of rice to fish!) and the rice was not too sticky/mushy. Instead, it was well seasoned, shiny, and perfectly cooked, just how it should be! Trust me, it takes a really good sushi restaurant to get the rice recipe right. The fish melts in your mouth and the chef does that thing where they put the wasabi in between the fish and the rice (which is actually the proper sushi making technique!). I could go on and on but I'll just say, trust me. This place is worth trying and returning to again and again. Take it from a well-traveled sushi-explorer. We were very disappointed. We ordered for the first time to try to help local businesses during the Coronavirus outbreak. The portions were very small and the fish used for the sushi wasn't fresh, it smelled and tasted very "fishy". We ordered 3 rolls and an appetizer for $60, which was more expensive than other Japanese in the area. We would not recommend their food but do want to give them credit for keeping things sanitary- they wiped everything down between customers and only allowed one pickup order inside their building at a time to keep "social distance". I went here for dinner about a month ago. The food was great. The sushi rolls were well done and very imaginative. The service unfortunately was the opposite. I asked the waiter about several different items on the menu. Some he didn't know how it was and others he didn't know what it was. I was really disappointed with our experience at Bluefin. I was very excited to try a new sushi restaurant as we don't really have any good ones in the Exton area. We failed to realize it was BYOB (our fault) and when we asked for Cokes, they only had Diet Coke and Sprite. Not a big deal, but disappointing none the less. We ordered one of the special appetizers. A shrimp tempura with mango salsa. It was very good, but the portions were small. Four shrimp for $10. Our entrees and rolls were good, but nothing spectacular. Our main disappointment with the restaurant was the atmosphere and our server. We were seated in one section with a very loud and obnoxious party. They were so loud we couldn't have a conversation without screaming at each other... that does not make for an enjoyable date night. They were also discussing very vulgar topics (again... very loudly). Other guests were also visibly annoyed but none of the staff came over to ask them to lower their voices. Our waiter was also mediocre at best. He took our order and delivered our food but that was about it. He never came over to refill drinks or check in on us. Cute little space and same amazing food as the East Norriton and Bala Cynwyd locations. I've been going to bluefin in East Norriton for years. Chef Yong is the sushi master! My favorites are the rock shrimp sundae and the oyster mushroom roll. They are amazing!!! You have to get some edamame as well. We went here Friday evening with another couple. I had made reservations online for the 4 of us. My husband and I arrived first and the hostess was very confused about what, I am not sure! Finally, she realized that, Yes, I'd like to be seated to wait for our friends. Another gentleman apologized for the confusion and brought us an ice bucket for our wine. The menus are tri folded PAPER, like you'd receive as a takeout menu. Very odd. There isn't much to the atmosphere, it's very bare. I thought it would be more upscale actually. Our server was not friendly at all. She came to the table and only said, "Are you ready"? We put in some appetizers...Shrimp Shumai (very good, standard) The oysters (quality of oysters was good but sauce was overpowering, almost bitter) Edamame (very good, large portion) and the Chilean Sea Bass (this was unique and delicious. The fish was buttery and very flavorful.) We had so many appetizers that we just ordered a roll each. I ordered the "no name roll ll" (???) it was very good. The others in my party weren't wowed or very impressed with their choices. They are all experienced sushi eaters. Overall, this is not somewhere I'd be anxious to return to.
