Owner, Evan on the left. Our server, Stephanos and my wife and I.

My wife and I made a reservations for 6pm. We arrived promptly at 5:57. They recognized our name immediately and sat us right away. Server was personal and informative about the menu. We picked apps and our entrees and were served within a reasonable amount of time. The app was delicious. Entrees came out after a little wait (perfect timing for chit chat). The entrees were perfect. A cornucopia of flavor and textures. So good! Oh so good!! Desserts are a must! Between the excellent service, food and ambiance......all were perfect! To add on to this the owner met with us to ensure we were satisfied. Definitely returning and recommending this restaurant to everyone!! Make the reservations, they are a hit and will be busy for a long time to come.

Falafel Gyro Platter with fries and salad--all delicious!

We came here for our book club dinner. The food was all excellent, the service was great, and they let us sit for almost three hours while we talked book club. Great service, great food, quiet ambience--dark room, little table lights, cloth tablecloths, very nice. Wish I had a photo of the Myrtos zucchini chips appetizer--also delicious!

Refreshing new to me restaurant! Clean, classy and well thought out! Menu has lots of choices and options for most everyone, including kids choices. Server was professional and attentive, timing was right on.. Calamari appetizer was delicious! Main course looked fantastic, but both of our dinners were lukewarm and my broccolini was cold They did heat it up without a problem, but then my shrimp was a little rubbery.. tasty all the same and I would return. Gelato dessert was creamy and delicious, Nutella dessert was sensational! Check came with 2 little surprises: $5 corkage fee.. for a BYOB? Credit card surcharge of 3%+.. Overall good experience

I didn't have any expectations going in--honestly, I'm a pretty picky eater--so when my husband suggested we try this restaurant, I was hesitant. But I was pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere was okay--not exactly my style, but it was clean and the staff were super friendly and welcoming. I ordered the salmon, and it was hands down the best I've ever had in my life. My husband got a pasta dish and really enjoyed his meal as well. We'll definitely be back again soon!

Excellent experience-tonight was our second time at Myrtos and it was wonderful!! We have excellent service. The food was fresh, flavorful, well-prepared and beautifully served. We started with a combination appetizer platter with hummus, fresh tzatziki, eggplant, stuffed grape leaves and toasted pita. Each bite was delicious. I had a special gyro platter that was about the best I've had anywhere. My husband had the scallops which were cooked just right but the pasta wasn't as flavorful as the rest of our meal. I'd recommend the black cod or Chilean sea bass which we had last time. Try to save room for dessert-we had baklava and it was excellent! The staff was very attentive and service was outstanding. We can't wait to go back.

Our server was great and attentive, the food was really good! We ordered the Caesar salad, calamari, chicken with crab, veal saltimbocca, pasta with shrimp and crab, pasta with meatballs (the person who ordered didn't care for the meatballs but is very particular), baked salmon, and chicken parm dinner. Only issue I would address is that some of the parties food came out at least 5 minutes before the others (about 1/2 the party) which made it awkward. Otherwise, a great experience and all want to return!

Besides…read morethe Italian cuisine, the fact that it is on the banks of the Brandywine River was the attraction. I like dining close to water. When I arrived, I drove past the restaurant because I did not know where it was located. I turned around at the municipal building and drove around to the main entrance which is behind the building and not on East Lancaster Avenue. We were there for lunch so there was plenty of parking. Given the large number of tables that they have, I can imagine that the parking lot can get crowded when the restaurant is full. The interior is large with lots of tables inside and outside. Outside there are tables on a patio overlooking the river. The building appears to be a converted mill. We ordered the Caesar Salad, Basa Francesce, Seafood Fettucine, and Chocolate Mousse Cake. The Caesar Salad was delicious. The dressing had a hint of anchovy flavor. The Basa Francesce was a light fish washed in butter with a lemon butter sauce. The fettucine was not as flavorful as I expected. The Seafood Fettucine by contrast was extremely tasty. The Chocolate Mousse Cake was rich and delightful. I expect us to be back again.

It had been nearly two and a half years since we first traversed the narrow gravel lane and parked…read morein the unpaved lot adjacent to the stone ruins of an old dairy barn... From there, it was just few brief steps to a secluded little restaurant retreat known as Orangery, which is also the residence of head chef Sabrina Lutz and her husband, Paul. As though caught in a time warp - tucked away in Glen Isle, a bit of bucolic bliss just off bustling Business Route 30 on the western fringe of Downingtown - it remains very much a world apart, a hidden gem from another age. The 40-seat enclosed sunporch, is both cozy and romantic. On the other hand, in warmer weather, nothing is quite so pleasant as dining alfresco on the restaurant's comfortable patio (pictured). The five-course set menu of hearty Tuscan fare changes fortnightly; so, as I also noted in my first review, the items I mention here may be somewhat different from what you will experience. However, this intro will still give you some idea of what to expect (to discover precisely what Orangery will be serving during a given week, please consult the restaurant's website). Dinner here generally begins with Crostini, which means "little toasts" in Italian, and consists of canapés adorned with a savory topping. During our first visit, Sweet Peppers Crostini was quite delicious; the second time around, the Shrimp Crostini was less so - and infinitely more filling (more on that later). In lieu of a second course salad, the kitchen served up a Mini Vegetable Quiche (pictured), which was quite good, although - falling victim to a not uncommon faux pas - inordinately bland. Once again, however, the pasta course - in this case, Gnocchi with Salmon pictured) - proved the weakest link in the culinary chain. Bathed in an unctuous cream sauce, to say that this dish was exceedingly rich would, indeed, be an understatement. It was simply too much of too much of a good thing... But, more than this, several misgivings voiced as a result of my first visit, I note verbatim: "In the midst of a five-course meal, unless you happen to possess the appetite of a starving yak, the portion size was entirely too large"; and, in addition, "as you may note from the photograph, it was not terribly attractively plated." Even a modest sprinkling of parsley or other herbs would have gone a long way toward significantly improving this dish's bland dropped-onto-the-plate-from ten thousand-feet appearance. The Chicken Pizzaiola (pictured), though, was right back on track. This is a variation of carne alla pizzaiola, or pizza-maker style beef. Legend has it that, because they were so busy, pizza makers in Naples needed a dish they could easily prepare with ingredients they had on hand. And this is one of those dishes that is absolutely sublime in its simplicity. The chicken breast is lightly breaded, gently fried, and then topped with a sauce comprised of tomatoes, olive oil, oregano & basil. The finishing touch, a tiara of fresh mozzarella. And all is as it should be... the chicken is moist & tender and the sauce has just the proper interplay of sweetness and acidity. My only quibble is that, once again, I consider the organic green salad with asparagus and parmesan cheese a rather odd, and not particularly well-chosen, plating companion. My preference definitely would have been for a wild rice pilaf and a nicely arranged green vegetable, sans superfluous greenery. The sweet ending...? A moist and flavorful chocolate cake garnished with strawberries. One or two closing notes... What I mentioned in my first review continues to hold true... Your ultimate opinion of this restaurant will very much depend upon your expectations. If you're looking for a sophisticated Michelin-starred experience, you've definitely come to the wrong address. The cuisine here is hearty homespun Tuscan and, on the whole, quite good. The service is not professional; however, it is young, friendly, well-meaning, and has definitely improved since my previous visit. If you have never dined at the Orangery, it is, in my opinion, certainly worthy of a visit. Given its pastoral setting and homey, unpretentious ambiance, it is a delightfully restful step back in time. Just keep the above-mentioned caveats in mind, and you will not be disappointed. BYOB... And reservations are de rigueur.
