    Haddock Florentine with lemon potatoes
    Steve L.

This place is a hidden gem. Been twice and loved it both times. The food and service are top notch. The ambiance is cozy and unpretentious. We had 3 dips (hummus, eggplant, feta whip) with warm pita and it was a great start. I had the haddock special which was haddock stuffed with spinach Florentine, feta in a light lemon sauce. It was served with lemon potatoes. And, included was a Greek salad. I cannot wait to return.

On my road trip, I stumbled upon this spot. I was initially heading towards another restaurant but when I saw the amount of cars parked outside the restaurant, I knew that was my sign to check this spot instead. No doubt I made the right choice. I have been to other authentic Greek spots before. Yet there were quite a few dishes that I never heard of before. So that's a good sign! The weather was really great today so we opted for the outdoor seating. (Unfortunately, the view ... Is of the parking lot. However, you're surrounded by a lot of trees so you can kind of see the foliage. We ordered: Appetizer: Saganaki Meli (Pan fried feta cheese wrapped in phyllo dough, topped with honey and sesame seeds) -- the blend of the saltiness from the cheese and the sweetness from the honey really complimented each other well! Entrees: Moussaka (Roasted layers of eggplants, potatoes and seasoned ground beef in tomato sauce, topped with bechamel sauce) Ngl, it reminded me of an eggplant lasagna Stuffed Haddock Florentine (Broiled Haddock filets, stuffed with spinach, scallions and feta cheese, topped with olive oil, lemon and garlic sauce) served with lemon potatoes This was one of the special dishes of the day and the waitress highly praised the dish. The fish was broiled perfectly! I never considered stuffing spinach and feta cheese between my fish, yet it works! And that lemony sauce paired really well with the fish and cheese. Both of these entries came with a complimentary greek salad

Tonight was my second visit and it was just as fabulous as the first a couple of months ago. YUM. It's easy to miss this gem in Keswick but it is absolutely worth a stop. They take reservations and have an outdoor dining area if people-watching is your thing. The hummus is out of this world. Served with a collection of fresh cucumber pieces and pickled carrots, the hummus served with warm pita is a-ma-zing! Do yourself a favor and get an extra order of pita ($1) because you will want every drop. One of us had the fresh branzino. It comes to the table with all of its parts attached but is easily de-boned at the table. It was a lovely tasting fish and the lemon potatoes it was served with were incredible. The other of us got the chicken souvlaki. Perfectly marinated and served on the kabob, it was very flavorful. It's served with fries and tzatziki sauce. Our dinners came with salads and we left stuffed and happy. Waitstaff were all very lovely!

They increased their prices, but we were so impressed by the quality of the food. We got the mix grilled platter, tyrokafteri (recommended by the waitress), and baklava. The savory dishes were so flavorful and the baklava really fragrant (I have a pistachio allergy so it was nice finding one with just walnuts and almonds). Just get what we got and you won't go wrong. My favorite was the lamb & beef gyro with pita and my husband's favorite was the pork skewer/souvlaki. The staff was friendly and accommodated our time constraint flawlessly. Inside is warm and homey. Would definitely come back.

Fantastic place for Greek food! Upon arrival service was quick friendly and professional. Very welcoming! Ambiance is great and easy to get in..I went early for dinner around 5pm. Great menu with all things Greek. Food was flavorful and portions were excellent. Huge value. Oscar server was attentive and very cordial. My whole experience was amazing. Kudos and keep up the great work! It's BYOB.

I had been unable to find a Greek restaurant in Philadelphia that had good spinach pie - until now. The Spanakopita at Elia is as good as any I've ever had! The phyllo pastry layers were buttery and flaky, with a thick, luscious spinach, feta and herb filling. My partner and I both were surprised, and pleased at the large portion size, because we were sharing the pie and the Lamb Chops! I was savoring the spanakopita when I bit into one of the lamb chops. While I didn't expect the chops to reach to level of excellence of the pie, they easily did. They were delicious, tender and juicy, with a distinctively rich and savory taste. What a great combination! The meal was outstanding! It's definitely worth the drive to Keswick - we'll be returning!

Omg! We found this restaurant for a pre-show dinner. We live in West Chester, but I can guarantee you that we will make the trip just for this authentic Greek food! Our server Barb could not have been better! We felt like she was feeding family.

The ground lamb didn't overpower the already expertly executed hummus and added fantastic depth and richness. We also sprung for the grilled calamari tubes and the chef did a great job of not overcooking while achieving an excellent char. We shared the baked cod and the spice was delicate and perfect. Using cured lemon was a very clever idea as the sauce was not too strong but still had depth; the saffron and turmeric were well balanced. The fish itself was NOT overcooked and flaked perfectly. The vegetables were also executed well and cooked so they could be eaten with the same bite. The star of the show was still the cook on the fish with the wonderful sauce. The sever gave us some Moroccan mint tea which was also wonderful. We will be making the drive from the Maine Line to just to dine here again.

The service was incredibly friendly and gracious and the ambiance charming. We started with hot appetizers of roasted artichokes, pan fried Halloumi cheese, Spanakopita and an evening special hummus with spiced, minced lamb served with warm pita. All so delicious we were tempted to forego our main courses of moussaka, lamb kebab and delicious lemon/caper cod served over a bed of roasted root vegetable. Desserts, celebrated with a happy birthday candle on a scrumptious chocolate/hazelnut cake , walnut baklava and Turkish coffee made the evening complete. This BYOB gem is a culinary find and we will be going back soon.

I typically lean towards the mediterranean options when I dine here, but they really have such a great variety. From pizza, to pasta, salads, or even burgers. We started with the Mediterranean combo platter which came with all the yummies- Humus, Baba Ganush, Tabbouleh, Falafel, Stuffed Grape Leaves & feta (plus, cucumbers for our gluten free diner). All to die for. As for entrees, our tiny queen got chicken fingers and fries- $17 is kinda crazy for a kids meal if I'm being honest, but it's a large portion. I went with the filet souvlaki which was so tasty- especially the tzatziki sauce. My mom went with the leg of lamb platter, and J got a greek salad- add chicken. Enjoyable, all around. For dessert, the tiny queen requested the brownie with vanilla ice cream and the birthday girl (my mom) opted for the lemon cake. Everyone's bellies were very happy by the end. My only complaint are some of the prices and upcharges. $4 add cucumber because someone is gluten free is crazy. Nonetheless, this will not stop us from returning. There are so many options to please everyone!

Almyra - I happened to walk by it a few weeks ago, I didn't know it was there. I thought, 'looks very nice, I'll have to try it'. The restaurant, which features 'modern Greek' is part of the Estia Group, which includes 7 restaurants - 3 of which are in Philly (Estia and Pietro's are the other two). I went for dinner this evening on a Wednesday, and there was a good crowd - the restaurant is quite large, and it's decorated beautifully. I started with three of the Spreads - Smoked Eggplant, Beet, and Hummus. It was wonderful trying these 3 - I spread them on the pita and crispy rice crackers - and tried them separately - spoonful by spoonful, to really taste the differences. The Edamame Hummus has a unique flavor and texture with tahini and garlic. The Beet features roasted beets blended with labneh and garlic and topped with pistachio and feta. The Smoked Eggplant with peppers and balsamic rounds out the 3 with a deep, smoky flavor and a soft, smooth texture. I always look for 'classic' Spanakopita these days, but rarely find it. The dish at Almyra was labeled 'Spanakopita Manti' - I asked my server, what that was. She said it was a favorite of hers, a fried 'flower shaped' pastry filled with blended spinach and feta, served with tzatziki and leeks. I ordered them and they were heavenly - lightly battered, crispy fried 'flowers', with a creamy spinach center, that tasted exactly like spanakopita should. I dipped every bite in the creamy tzatziki and thoroughly enjoyed the appetizer! While pork is the most popular meat in Greece, lamb is a dish served on special occasions and holidays. I 'discovered' lamb in Greece, as I hadn't ordered it that often when I would go out to eat....specifically the lamb chop. Almyra has a great lamb chop! It's seared on the grill - and I do mean seared - the deep char definitely adds to the flavor. The 3 large chops are Australian lamb, herb marinated for days highlighting the flavor of the meat. They are seasoned with sea salt, cracked pepper and olive oil for a tender finish. I like my meat pink inside - not red or rare. Cooking lamb chops medium to medium well is no small feat, yet the meat was cooked exactly the way I liked. They were tender and very juicy. These chops may have been some of the thickest I've had - and I made the 'mistake' of trying to eat them with a fork and knife. Wrong! If you order chops, you 'MUST PICK THEM UP' and eat them! What a difference!! The meat just came right off the bone and it enhanced both the texture and flavor! I'm not sure why eating them off the bone was so different, but I can't emphasize it enough - and, it's a lot more fun! Part of the treat when you order ribs are the 'layered potato fries' you get with them! These aren't your ordinary fries, in fact, they're really not fries - they are little potato masterpieces! The fries are prepared by thinly slicing potatoes and layering them to create a multi layered texture that rocks! They are truly a savory, rich side dish to the lamb chops! After such an epic dinner, I had to order dessert, and the Olive Oil cake immediately caught my eye. It was a two layered cake with a creamy custard like center and a citrus orange topping. It was light and moist, accompanied by a scoop of vanilla gelato resting on a bed of ground pistachio nuts! It was delicious and a wonderful ending to a great meal!
