First thoughts- nice atmosphere. Seating is on the second floor. Was very surprised if there was only one waiter on a Saturday evening. He did do a great job. Restaurant was not very busy.. We ordered the Mezze platter and Spanakopita. VERY disappointed in the baba ganoush and hummus- both were flavorless and not good. Taziki was ok. There are no fresh figs on the platter (as stated on the menu), which I was looking forward to.. The top layer of the Spanakopita was cooked but the layers underneath were still doughy. If it was cooked correctly, this dish would've been very delicious. We decided to split the chef special which was a chicken breast with a tarragon, cream sauce, sun-dried tomatoes, and asparagus ($30). The dish itself was very good. However, the portion was VERY SMALL with only half of a small chicken breast pounded thin with no other accompaniments. My husband and I left there spending just under $90 and hungry. There's too many restaurants in Skippack to choose from and became of this experience we probably won't be back unless quality and quantity change. ***Note majority of the searing is up a large flight of stairs. The food was out of this world! The hummus from the trio dip appetizer was my favorite- I think I'd get the all hummus appetizer instead. The feta chicken was so creamy and flavorful, I loved it! The orzo was seasoned so well, it was probably the best orzo I've eaten. And the chicken from the skewer was delicious! I couldn't choose which chicken I loved more! The service was super quick and friendly. I loved that the restaurant was BYOB. Amazing and authentic! Located in the little town of Skippack is this hidden gem! Once arriving, you are greeted with the scent of the kitchen and the amazing woodwork all throughout the restaurant. For an appetizer I got the Shrimp Sagnaki. The tomato sauce was so fresh and had flavors I never tasted. Semi sweet yet a hint of herbs. It was great. Dinner was Black Seabass. The couscous that came with it was not only cooked perfect, but had hints of lemon that wasn't overpowering. In addition, the sea bass was cooked PERFECT! Baklava was the worst I've ever had, not edible. Was really disappointed because the reviews were decent. Will not be back and will be annoyed about that hundred dollars for days. Excellent food and great service. I've been there several times and I've had many different things and never been disappointed. There's souvlaki is exceptional. Everything is made from scratch so be prepared to relax and enjoy yourself. It's a BYOB so that should not be a problem. In the warmer weather, the little patio is delightful. Definitely one of the best places in our small town, the food here is some of the best I have had. The stuffed grape leaves were excellent, not dried out, and very flavorful. The tzatziki sauce was a really nice accompaniment to them as well. The hummus dish is perfect for sharing. The crisp pita paired with the delightful garlicky hummus was good as a second starter. I had the sword fish special, which Im at a loss of words for, one of the best Mediterranean dishes I have ever had. My wife got the shrimp and feta, which was also excellent. Super cute, good food and great service! We dined with my husband and parents for a birthday dinner on the patio and had a great experience. Our server, Dylan, was helpful with recommendations and answering questions. We shared the mezze, spanakopita, lamb shank, chicken spinach feta, moussaka, and shrimp orzo and all were delicious! Amongst five people that was more than enough and the dishes were easy to share family style, which I always prefer. Went on a thursday night, we were one of two tables. Food was absolutely phenomenal. (I had the swish tawook) service was great - not that we were competing really it was a slow night but the server saw i was just trying to catch up with my sister and wasnt overbearing. My sister almost stole this adorable mini spoon they served her coffee with. She said the baklava was amazing. Inside of the restaurant is very small - i think they have maybe ten tables. Went here for a date night with my wife. Ordered the stuffed grape leaves, hummus, Mediterranean salad, and entrees of beef kebabs and chefs special scallops & shrimp orzo. The interior architecture of the restaurant is cute- converted barn or something similar. The actual decor is a little.. eclectic? The pita and EVOO breadbasket were lacking. Pitas were okay, but the EVOO lacked any seasoning- a running theme for this experience. The hummus was creamy, but lacked tahini and maybe some garlic. The salad with "homemade Greek dressing" was a plate of chopped veggies with no dressing to taste of. We asked for more dressing, which seemed to be oil with no flavor. Stuffed grape leaves came next. 3of the 4 were underdone- crunchy rice. Had to send it back. The chefs special entree was okay- scallops were cooked perfectly, but the rest of the dish lacked any flavor. (My wife later reheated it with some garlic, tomato, and white wine and it was great) The kebabs and side of cheesy rice- both greatly lacked salt. And then the waiter- nice kid but... brought me the wrong check, overcharged me, then couldn't find the right check in the system... This is a cute place, and with some flavoring changes has great potential. Until then- it's a hard pass. read more

When we went there was only one person seating and making the food in the downstairs open kitchen which is lovely but I wish he had help so it wasn't too much for him but maybe someone called off. So happy we tried this place! I was a little nervous when we arrived at Calypso on a Saturday night and we were the only ones there. Must have been a fluke because this place was great. Perfect outdoor seating area nestled in skippack village. Every item on the menu sounded yummy. We had several apps for the table (shrimp, sampler, spanakopita) and we could have stopped there and been content but I'm glad we didn't. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meal (Sea bass, moussaka, lamb shank & beef kebab). We finished with a bite of baklava each and it was perfect. Shrimp sagnaki was a generous serving of jumbo shrimp, well seasoned pita with a lick the dish lemon tahini dipping sauce. The shish tawook was delightful. Tender chicken with some more of that great tahini sauce. Flavorful orzo. The sumac flank steak had a nice kick to it, but not too spicy. The beef kebabs were made with high quality meat, very tender and tasteful. For dessert we had the peanut butter explosion, not your typical Mediterranean dessert, but absolutely delicious. We are really disappointed to leave this review as we had high hopes for this restaurant and it's really the first time we've ever left a negative review for any restaurant before. We went here for dinner last night and we were so disappointed in the service. We waited 1 hour and 2 minutes for our meals to come out. We don't understand it because the place was not even very busy. When we got there, there was only one other table of two on the patio besides us and they already had their food. There were diners inside, but it is very limited seating inside, so it's definitely not like the place was packed. And what made the 1 hour and 2 minute wait even worse was that they don't offer any munchies on the table. No dinner rolls, no bread and olive oil for dipping, no pita chips, etc. So we literally just sat at our table for an hour and 2 minutes with our water and iced tea waiting for our meal. The food was good once it arrived, but by the time it came we were so hungry and so disappointed with the wait that there was no way we could give a more positive review. Like I said, we are disappointed because we were hoping for good things! read more
