The wait at Jake's down the road was too long so we checked out Bluebonnet. This diner has a huge parking lot and plenty of seating. Ordered three dishes and different drinks. The Reuben, spicy fries, and onion rings were great. Super friendly waitress in a casual setting.. A classic diner that's been around for decades. Our first time checking it out but we will be back. One issue was that this place has several doors. We went in through the side door and several workers just ignored us while we stood there for 5 minutes.

Absolutely love this place. Awesome menu, got to build my own omelette and very inexpensive. Best of all is the customer service. They treat you like family here. 3 Thumbs Up & 5 Stars from the wife & I.

Seeing as most reviews are favorable, and I believe that errors can be fixed, I visited again on Tuesday, this week. As soon as I stepped inside, once again that musty sour smell hit me. I couldn't help it. I very quietly asked one of the waitstaff when they last cleaned their carpets. They told me they have worked there for years, and can't remember it happening. Likely the source. Anyhow, I got eggs Benedict again. Good service, swift, friendly, and polite, an OK breakfast with typical diner coffee. But..,darn it. Here it comes. As I sat there, a server came up and literally right in front of me, reached under the counter and pulled out a plastic container which had raisins in it. They looked old and dry, but I can't be 100% certain, to be fair. He took off the lid, and then reached into the smallish plastic container, with his BARE hands, and put a handful in a small bowl, put the container down, wiped his nose with his hand, closed the container, put it way, and went on his way. No gloves, no spoon, just his bare hands. So much for 2nd chances. Sorry, but food safety is simply not high on the list here. I won't give it a third chance.

Stopped in this past Friday. Easy to find, plenty of parking, and spacious inside. An iconic diner. Was seated in Tammy's section, and she was great...friendly, knowledgable, checking on me several times. In answer to my question about whether the corn-beef hash was homemade, she indicated it was, except when they occassionally run out, in which case they do use the canned version as a backup. Maybe next time on the CBH, but since it was Friday afternoon, I opted for the fried haddock w 2 sides (for $17.99). Tammy indicated the fish was very fresh, and that the fish & chips on the regular menu w 2 sides for $15.99 used frozen fillets. Food came fast. Fries were nice and hot and very good. The cole slaw, for me, was good, but could've been drained a bit. Kind of watery (see pix). All three pieces of fried haddock presented well, but all three had a distinct ammonia taste. My stomach is made of cast iron, so I ate them w/o mentioning it to Tammy. The tartar sauce helped mask the taste. I probably should have mentioned it. Overall, I was hoping for better, especially for the price. If I'm in the area again, will try the CBH.

Good service. Nothing too fancy, but that's what you want here. Very predictable and in that way a great, dining experience.

Broasted chicken was good, but one piece was undercooked. Everything else was average. Lots of locals. Staff are very nice.

Very consistent food and service. Not a fancy place, but decent food. Has not changed much over many years.

A cozy little restaurant right outside of downtown Northampton. Not much of a wait if you are looking for a quick sit down bite to eat.

HOWEVER...I've been to Gigantic at least three times now and I have to admit that going out of your way is worth it. The drink list is not huge, but it's never boring, changes often enough to keep me interested, and I don't recall getting anything less than excellent. If they're willing to do a "bartender's choice" type thing (I haven't tried), I might have to go even more often. To address some of the things that others mentioned: Yes, it's small, but lots of good places are. Yes, the drinks take awhile, but I don't know of ANY high-end cocktail place that can cranks them out. Get over it and enjoy your time there. I've never experienced rude or pretentious (anymore than that are always is) service, but that would annoy me. The server/bartender has always been quite nice to my friends and me. I also checked out their list of vintage liquors last time I was there. I didn't try any (because money) but the fact that they have them at all is impressive.

What we did like was the old school music, vintage feel that took on the vibes of an antique shop (it was fun to look around), and the intimate setting. The cocktails were really good and creative with a menu that updates frequently and featured some classics as well. The cocktails were a bit pricey for what you got and for the area, the snack options were very limited and overpriced, and service was very slow despite few people being in the bar. We had to ask to be served and waited over 15 minutes for the check. We are glad we checked out Gigantic and would not recommend going out of your way for it as there are other great cocktail bars in neighboring towns.

While our table was being set up outside, we enjoyed a drink at the bar--the 15-minute wait was absolutely worth it. The outdoor setting was beautiful, with greenery creating a relaxed summer vibe and live music playing under a small tent, adding to the atmosphere. Our server was equally delightful--friendly, attentive, and spot-on with recommendations. Now, the food: outstanding. We started with the beets and peas salad, which was bursting with flavor--our plates were practically licked clean. The house arugula salad was crisp, fresh, and perfectly balanced with a light, lemony vinaigrette. For mains, we shared the roasted half chicken and the bucatini. Both were phenomenal. I rarely order chicken at restaurants since it often feels too plain, but this one was perfection--crispy skin, juicy meat, and seasoning that carried through every bite. The bucatini, made with homemade pasta and loaded with crispy pancetta, was absolutely irresistible. We couldn't resist finishing with the "Little Mason Jar" dessert, which was indulgent and delicious. Everything--from the service to the food to the ambiance--was exceptional. We'll definitely be back on our next visit to the area
