Found this place on Yelp and checked it out. I was not disappointed . I ordered a hot chocolate with whipped cream to start (was cold outside) and got the Hot Vegetable wrap with a side salad. Good portion of both and they were so good. The salad was crispy and had purple cabbage which is a favorite. The place itself is very vintage and cool. They also have a full bar for drinks and amazing house made pies. Prices are very reasonable and our waitress Naomi really made the experience. She is pure sunshine and joy. The wait at Jake's down the road was too long so we checked out Bluebonnet. This diner has a huge parking lot and plenty of seating. Ordered three dishes and different drinks. The Reuben, spicy fries, and onion rings were great. Super friendly waitress in a casual setting.. A classic diner that's been around for decades. Our first time checking it out but we will be back. One issue was that this place has several doors. We went in through the side door and several workers just ignored us while we stood there for 5 minutes. read more

Seeing as most reviews are favorable, and I believe that errors can be fixed, I visited again on Tuesday, this week. As soon as I stepped inside, once again that musty sour smell hit me. I couldn't help it. I very quietly asked one of the waitstaff when they last cleaned their carpets. They told me they have worked there for years, and can't remember it happening. Likely the source. Anyhow, I got eggs Benedict again. Good service, swift, friendly, and polite, an OK breakfast with typical diner coffee. But..,darn it. Here it comes. As I sat there, a server came up and literally right in front of me, reached under the counter and pulled out a plastic container which had raisins in it. They looked old and dry, but I can't be 100% certain, to be fair. He took off the lid, and then reached into the smallish plastic container, with his BARE hands, and put a handful in a small bowl, put the container down, wiped his nose with his hand, closed the container, put it way, and went on his way. No gloves, no spoon, just his bare hands. So much for 2nd chances. Sorry, but food safety is simply not high on the list here. I won't give it a third chance. read more

The Blue Bonnet is always the go to place for me and my family! Everything we've tried so far has been delicious, including the homemade baked goods and coffee. My personal favorite is the cinnamon swirl pancakes with local maple syrup and they serve breakfast all day! The atmosphere is family friendly, there's even a train that circles the dining room area for the kids to see and when you're leaving you can blow the whistle! The waitresses are very nice, especially a certain few we always ask for :) The prices are fair and the portions are pretty big. There's also a bar area with a TV and a banquet hall for events. Stopped in this past Friday. Easy to find, plenty of parking, and spacious inside. An iconic diner. Was seated in Tammy's section, and she was great...friendly, knowledgable, checking on me several times. In answer to my question about whether the corn-beef hash was homemade, she indicated it was, except when they occassionally run out, in which case they do use the canned version as a backup. Maybe next time on the CBH, but since it was Friday afternoon, I opted for the fried haddock w 2 sides (for $17.99). Tammy indicated the fish was very fresh, and that the fish & chips on the regular menu w 2 sides for $15.99 used frozen fillets. Food came fast. Fries were nice and hot and very good. The cole slaw, for me, was good, but could've been drained a bit. Kind of watery (see pix). All three pieces of fried haddock presented well, but all three had a distinct ammonia taste. My stomach is made of cast iron, so I ate them w/o mentioning it to Tammy. The tartar sauce helped mask the taste. I probably should have mentioned it. Did not enjoy a recent lunch here at all. Our club sandwiches at close to $20 each were sad and unappetizing with rubbery bread, unripe tomatoes, limp lettuce and undercooked bacon. Being returning to this place since I can remember in Christmas, my top choices were the Lobster Roll and the Lemon Meringue, I came by a couple days ago in October and they didn't have any. Loved the train going in circles around the dinner, brings so many memories. I tried the Philly Cheesesteak and the Montecristo sandwich, loved the Philly one, steaks amazing, cheese great, peppers very well done. The Montecristo for my surprise lacked some flavor. After walking in, we were greeted by a very nasty woman who told us it would be a couple minutes wait and asked if we were going to stay. After a few minutes, she abruptly mumbled that our table was "in the middle" while talking to another employee. When we asked her to clarify, she snapped "it's in the middle, it's the only one open," in an annoyed tone. After passing four open tables, we chose one ourselves and were met with a rude and impatient server, who didn't bother greeting us and instead just asked, "what do you want?" when she came to take our order. Lost in western mass and stumbled across this spot. Everyone loves a good diner so I had to try it. I ordered a breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausage links, bacon, and a side of home fries. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious, the bacon limp and under cooked, the sausage links flavorless, and eggs lacked much flavor as well and the cheese I requested not even mixed in. The food was okay, but what I still find hard to swallow is the up-charges. I was charged 1.79 extra for having the "real" syrup versus the "Kraft" syrup. Are you kidding?!?! $1.79 for a tablespoon of syrup? I was also charged nearly $1 for a slice of cheese on my eggs, which wasn't even stirred into the eggs. The server was decent, the ambiance typical, but not sure I'd go back to be nickel and dimed over syrup and cheese, if you're going to charge for things a la carte like this you better be the best, this spot is not, a bit outrageous to be honest. The staff is the best - I know most of them by name. They are the right amount of attentive, but leave you to enjoy your meal and conversations. We ate at the diner recently because friends had recommended it. We thought it was very quaint and had that neat diner feel with the train going around above. That's cool especially for children. My wife and I both had the fried fish. We thought it was kind of mediocre. We have had worse but usually had better at other restaurants. The diner wasn't particularly busy when we were dining there but my wife and I who are big water drinkers found that the waitress didn't check in very often to see if we needed or wanted anything. To be honest, we found our waitress whose name I can't recall to be a bit of a wise guy with something of an edge to her that you usually don't show to your patrons in a restaurant (maybe she was having an off day). This is a great classic diner. We enjoyed the train theme (and toy train circling the diner overhead). When we left my daughter pulled the authentic train whistle at the entrance as their traditional sign we enjoyed their service! That was fun too. The hospitality of our waitress was fantastic--sincerely kind and very family-oriented. We all enjoyed our meals (spaghetti and meatballs, broiled haddock, and pierogies with kielbasa). The new menu has eliminated the vegetables as side dishes completely, and the prices are now that of a five star restaurant rather than a diner. I used to be able to have a relatively low carb meal by having a piece of fried fish, or some broasted chicken, but with green beans and peas instead of some sort of starch, all for a reasonable price. However, now all of their side dishes are either a form of potato, or bread (coleslaw and cottage cheese don't count), and on top of that, I have to pay top dollar for the privilege. Absolutely delighted by our visit! My grandfather turned 90 and he loves this place so this was where he wanted to be for his 90th bday so we had everyone meet here. The servers were TOP NOTCH!! They were fast and so kind and caring!! At one point my grandfather became overwhelmed and tried to sneak out of his own party. Diner food should be part comfort food like a hearty meatloaf...part artery clogging like a great cheeseburger...part "I haven't seen that in a restaurant since I was a kid" desserts...and part food not "popular" in the last 3 decades yet still awesomely good like liver & onions or fried bologna sandwiches. It should NEVER be expensive! We stopped going pre-pandemic when our bill was over $70 (not including top) for 2 sandwiches, a kids meal, drinks and simple desserts. Note I said PRE-pandemic. Still the optimistic fool that I am, I pulled up a menu today and thought I might grab a bite. Nope! Yikes! Pandemic recovery or not its just too expensive for decidedly meh food! In short, the food is average overall. Some items are really good while others are bland and made worse by being covered in some came-in-a-bag gravy. The atmosphere is neither here nor there. Breakfast has always been good I will give you that. I really want to like the diner again but I just can't. The food isn't that great and the prices are nuts.
