Have not been here in years. Walked into a mostly empty restaurant. Was told we would be sat in a few minutes. 20 minutes goes by and I ask the hostess when we are going to be sat. The Blue Wolf has an amazing selection of appetizers and entrees. Beef, Pork, even seafood! I had some grilled and sautéed scallops decorated with creamy mashed potatoes. Came here after a recent weekend round of golf in the area...we sat at the horseshoe bar area to enjoy some sports on the telly and a shared meal. Was not super-hungry, so I ordered the tavern sampler appetizer platter. It was decent in size and quality...crispy onion rings, boneless chicken wings with a mild buffalo sauce (your choice) and Thai chili rubbed ribs that were boiled then flash fried. Don't judge a book by it's cover or name. By the looks and sound we thought it was more of a bar atmosphere. We were pleasantly surprised with lovely family restaurant. The menu was quite extensive from seafood, pasta and steaks. We had the spicy stuffed peppers and shrimp special appetizer, both delicious. My husband ordered the Thai salmon and I had the lobster ravioli that served with cajun alfredo and portobello cap. It was very popular on a Saturday evening both in restaurant and bar area. We had to send our black and blue Burger back three times. Our waiter was the worst. We finally left because they couldn't get my friend's burger right. I was done eating by the time they brought hers out the third time and it was still raw. The deal was to buy a burger with the purchase of a drink and your burger was half off. I really wanted to like this place. I wanted to eat the food here. I liked the options on the menu. I liked the variety. Every place I plan to go to I check out online ahead of time. People seem to like this place based on reviews. I'm a foodie. I was excited. Backstory. I was here once four years ago. The poor service and timing miffed my husband enough that we didn't come back. He's a bit of a diva about good service. It wasn't a great dining experience the first time. Long wait, poor timing, empty drinks, meh. I was willing to give it a second shot but he never wanted to. Well, today we had a day date planned and he surprised me by pulling up to BWT. He was willing to try again for me! We walk in, and it's a busy lunch at around 1pm. Tables abound and the people in front of us are being told that all that's available are high tops in the bar. Must have been short staffed, sure I get that. About 3-4 mins go by and we haven't been greeted yet. We've been told by the hostess that she'll be back. She comes back and answers the phone. Ok ok ok. All that's available are high tops. That's fine. Sitting down at our table, we read the menu for a while. This takes about five minutes or so. We decide on our choices and start to look up, around, and chat. The server for the area makes her way around, walks by a few times, and a few times more. No one has greeted us. We wait. Another five minutes go by. Nobody says a thing. I get if you're busy, I get if you need to catch up, but you walk by my table five times while this happens. Say hello, say I'll be right with you, anything. The appetizers were served without any plates. It took more than 10 minutes to get plates, because the waitress did not come back until bringing another appetizer, and we had to requested plates. (If the second appetizer hadn't been ordered, we wondered if we would have ever gotten plates.) All of the meals did not come at the same time, my husband sat for 5-10 minutes waiting for his food, which was one of the specials. We thought they had forgotten his meal. When it did come, It came on a smaller plate than everyone else's and was very disappointing. Several people finished their drinks and water, but the waitress never returned to check for refills. She did not return after our entrees were served until she brought the checks after we were done eating. There were many empty tables in the dining room, so it was not busy. There are billing issues also. It seems that six people is considered a "Large Party", so they automatically add a 20% gratuity to the bill, so the waitress was guaranteed larger gratuity for doing as little as possible, and it was exactly what happened. There is also an automatic 3% fee on the bill for a credit card service fee, and it it not removed when you pay cash. They also do not bring back exact change for your bill. You get a "rounded" amount as your change. Overall, I could not recommend this place to others, and I would not return. read more

We have been going to Blue Wolf Tavern since we moved from Texas, about a year ago. we found this place on accident, because we went to another near-by restaurant who's staff didn't know what gluten-free meant; so we tried BWT. I am so glad we did, the staff and the food are fantastic. A couple of things to keep in mind: 1. Make a reservation ALL the TIME, they get very busy; which is good. 2. They do charge 3.5% if you pay by credit or debit card (which a lot of places are doing these days), but if you pay by Cash or Gift Card and tell the server before your check arrives, they will remove it--no problem. 3. Always check their website (thebluewolftavern.com) before you dine, they put a specials menu on the site daily for lunch and dinner. They will give you a copy at the restaurant upon arrival as well, but I always like to see what they offer that day before we get there. Lunch specials are posted around 10:00am with Dinner specials posted around 3:00pm daily, give or take a little bit. 4. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food, amount you receive, speed of service and staff friendliness. These are my thoughts, we love to dine out and this place is at the top of my list. This restaurant is amazing! I've never had a bad experience in the 10 plus years I've eaten here. The food is fresh. Salads are cold & entrees are ho as they should be. The service is good & the menu has a nice selection to choose from. In fact, it's my favorite restaurant in the area! And having personally inspected every inch of the place as a pest control specialist, I can honestly say that Blue Wolf's kitchen alone is so clean that I would consider eating off of the floor - but only if I had to! Dreadfully plated on a cold saucer making the meal cold. Saucer was too small to cut the chicken breast, without making a mess of the table. Poor plating choices and flavorless chicken made the meal unsatisfactory. Below average service: Appetizers served without appetizer plates. We didn't see the waitress after the main course meal was served. Table head count of 6 is considered a Large Party/Auto Gratuity 20%, so the waitress was guaranteed a positive service gratuity for minimal effort, and it showed. Finally the credit card service fee of 3% is still being applied (12/16/2023). Would not positively suggest Blue Wolf in the future. read more

The service was excellent. The manager was great. Our waiter Ron was attentive, friendly, professional. Kim, a waitress, who helped with our request (in addition to Ron) was professional, friendly, and kind. It made for an evening we wouldn't forget. The food was superb. My husband had the sole stuffed with crab meat and sweet potato fries. I had the pasta. Both were cooked well and served hot. We finished off the meal with chocolate peanut butter pie and crème brûlée. Must try both! Our drink glasses were always filled when needed which adds to the professionalism and caring of the staff. The ambiance of the tavern was nice. We didn't realize we could make reservations, but we didn't have a long wait.
