HOLY COW, BLUE! My friend had taken me here for dinner for my birthday last year, and I was immediately in love with everything about this place. My birthday is mid-June, so it was the perfect night to sit outside. We were seated right away, and immediately had a waiter asking us what we wanted to drink. The food was incredible, the service was amazing, and the ambiance was PERFECT. I have been dying to come back here ever since. It's a little pricey, but well worth every penny. read more

Excellent food, especially the Thai Calamari and that's coming from someone who never even liked calamari! The service was great too and our waitress was extremely accommodating to our needs. I made a reservation on a weekend day for 11 people for a small birthday party. Then I called and asked if I could bring some bottle of wine because my wife is allergic to alcohol, and she is fine with only this wine which I will bring and actually it was her 60th birthday. Lady who answered said yes, but we charge $35 for open core. $35!!! The bottle of wine cost about $20. Then, I asked if I could bring a birthday cake because there are no cakes on the menu. Lady said yes, but we charged $3 per person to cut the cake. It means if the cake costs $20-25, we must pay $33 to cut the cake. Amazing! When I said in this case, I will need to cancel the reservation she said with a cold voice: "No problem". She did not even offer any options. It means she was instructed by the restaurant administration/owner, and they do not care about customers. They do not think today they have customers tomorrow nobody. Of course, we canceled and never regretted it because we went to another very similar cozy restaurant with very nice design, food and service. They charged us $10 open core. No problem! But $35?! All restaurants with bars charge open core. They DID NOT charge to cut cake. They even sing a song Happy Birthday to my wife. read more

I can't say enough great things about this place. I ate hear again over the wknd and this place is just absolutely amazing. Staff is always courteous and attentive, the host always greets you with a warm welcome and the food is off the charts great. The only small thing I would recommend is maybe getting some new chairs, my chair was wobbly and so was my husbands but other than that another superb night at Blue! read more

Had dinner on Sun actually for my birthday. Was excited to try it out but left disappointed - the service was very poor. The appetizers however were good but it went downhill from there and they really didn't seem to care although they did give us complimentary champagne when we got the check. Went there friday night, 10 people. Somewhat of a strange start with the maitre d telling us that he rather let us cool off in the waiting room before sitting us. An hour into our meal, sweating profusely we realized what he meant. That was not a good spot But I would be more than ok with it if the food was good. Shockingly bad considering the popularity and the 1 hour wait for some. I cant believe people are waiting an hour to eat here. Overcooked galore. Trout - dry overcooked, lamb shank not very tender, far from "falling off the bone", chicken dry and bland, my "fiery" pappardelle with seafood lacked flavor and wasnt fiery at all. Very basic with canned tomato sauce. Even the pappardelle was overcooked. Very surprising considering I like Beso and Bayou. Some folks warned me that this place is only good for lunch but I finally had to go to experience it myself. Couldnt have asked for better service after a nice day. My in laws and I went here for lunch with my small son and husband, and were waited on by a waitress named Cayna. She was so friendly and had a great personality. The food came out fast, and was tasty. The views outside were nice as well as the sitting area outside. The passing boats kept my son occupied. Overall couldnt have asked for a nicer experience. Its a must go read more

Called to make a reservation for 6 people at 11:30am the day before they said that they would call me back but never did. 7 hours later and know one knew what I was talking about. You have a better chance of eating if you walk in and wait around for a table. I have dying here before and the food is good and the place is nice but the service is not so good. read more

Beautiful day and wanted to sit outside with the lovely view. While the were 15 empty tables in the shade, the only option allowed even after multiple requests was to sit in the blazing sun or inside. Why, you ask? 1) its the policy. 2) the tables in the shade are too small to serve a meal. We were then seated at a table literally 1/2 the size of the shady tables but INSIDE. Asked to speak to the manager who was first just "out" and then "not here today." All around very disappointing and one of the silliest policies ever!! If you're going to have a stupid reason - like the tables are too small - don't put the party of 2 at a table inside that is so mall our lunch plates would not fit. Makes me realize why no one goes to Staten Island and comes back saying it was worth the trip! Will say our cab driver Omar was awesome! read more

Food is OK. Décor is OK. Service is OK. Portions are not large by any means(they're small actually and not great if you plan to share)- I feel like this restaurant thinks it's in Manhattan and wants to charge you as such but no, they are in Staten Island. I ordered a salad as my dinner but alas it was the size of a side salad other establishments. Other people in my party had ordered a steak and had to choose between a vegetable or potato, as a side...what? Normally you would receive both. I just can't stand paying MORE for LESS. Benefits is that's is funky looking and different for Staten Island. I wasn't wowed by this place but also wouldn't say no to going back. So we tried the grilled octopus Chicken Magala, Shell Steak & Bronzino Fillet. I never had octopus before so I have nothing to compare it to but is interesting can't say I loved it but I ate it all no one else liked it. The Chicken Magala with rigatoni was real good however some pieces of chicken were rubbery that's a sign of cheap meat, the Shell Steak came with Mac & Cheese, even though the whole plate looked amazing & despite the Steak looking like it was cooked the way we wanted it was a bit tough and not much of a enjoyable taste, the Bronzino was very good and everyone enjoyed. On my birthday my husband made reservations at Blue. The service and the view was spectacular. So much so, on New Year's eve, I made dinner reservation. When we got there, the reservation I thought we had, was not on record. The staff were very apologic, called another of their restaurant in order to get us a table. We were not interested in going anywhere else. The maitre, (forgot his name) could not stop apologizing. He said give me sometime, to see if someone was leaving. He said have a seat at the bar, asked the bartender to give us a drink. As we sat there a table became available and we were seated. The apologies continued. At the end of dinner, as we were leaving, he gave us a bottle of wine on the house. This was unbelievable, we were shocked, and forgave the mix up. They are the best, the food is great , I have told all my friends. Now this restaurant is on my favorite list. What an experience!!!! read more

My fiance and I had our engagement party here yesterday. It was amazing.. from the courteous/helpful staff to the amazing food. We couldn't have asked for a better time. The manager, Jeff was very accommodating to the last minute changes I needed to make without even a hesitation.. the wait staff worked so hard to ensure everyone had everything they needed to have a great time. Friends and family are still raving about the amazing food. Highly recommended for parties (for parties of 50+ you get the entire restaurant which includes the amazing view) or just a random dinner. read more

Amazing restaurant - went here for my birthday. Had the "love letters" which were a mix of shell and crustaceans in a tomato sauce. The scallops, mollusk a, lobster tails were very good but the sauce was overly salty. My wife had the flounder, said it was very good. Very romantic place. The only downside (and why I took off a star) is that their cocktails were watered down. Will definitely come back. read more

we came in on a tuesday So we ended up ordering 4 appetizers in the order of our favorites: Scallops, Avocado Carpaccio, Grilled Octopus and Thai Calamari. the scallops are so tender, with the sauce oh my goodness i've never tasted anything better... this is one of those apps that you HAVE to order Avocado Carpaccio surprisingly is 2nd of the favorite that i had this night and i say surprising because i love my calamari/octopus/seafood - reason being is that all the flavors with the cheese truffle compliments each other so well that i'm glad it was recommended. the grilled octopus was so tender and though they give you a slice of lemon, it's not needed in my opinion lastly the calamari wasnt bad - it's just that it wasn't anything super special but i ordered it anyway because of my sheer love for calamari. it has a slight slight slight hint of spiciness but nothing that someone who cant take spicy cant handle. i ranked this last because it would just seem like it's fried calamari tossed very well with sweet chili sauce - of course this is a very over simplification but just how i saw it. For the entrees we ordered: Lamb Shank and the Seafood Pot. the lamb shank was very tender and falling off the bone. the cheese risotto was quite creamy and stringy so i'm assuming it may be a combination of various cheeses. overall this dish is something i probably i wouldn't want to order again but in reality i probably would only because of the menu selection i feel that wouldn't justify the price (for instance, knowing how much supermarkets sell chicken breast, pork chops, steak, etc) - not saying the $30 price for the lamb shank dish is worth it but it would be 1 of the two dishes i would order the 2nd dish would be the seafood pot - word of warning, if you're not a big lemon fan, then you shouldn't order this because the taste of the rice noodles and the dish itself isnt overpowering with lemon flavor but rather the lemon flavor is present. this dish has a decent amount of seafood included so it would be the other of the 2 dishes i would order should i come back here again For desert, the blueberry bread pudding isnt listed on the menu but is listed on the Pre Fix so if you want something that you probably wont get anywhere else, go for the blueberry bread pudding. very moist, sweet and delectable! out of the 3 restaurants, i would go to the other 2 over Blue, not because they are bad but because i think overall, there were dishes that Bayou and Beso have that i 'm more interested in having. read more

For starter the place is at a great location, clean, and the service was great. We were seated within 20 min and a waiter came over right away, no complaint there. BUT... The food is VERY OVERPRICED for the quality. We ordered the meatballs for appetizer. They were dry and had a frozen like taste to them. I ordered the duck breast dish which had very nice flavor but for $24 I should've had more than 4 sliced of a duck breast. The chicken dish had about the same amount for $22. My boyfriend ordered the pork which was actually good in flavor and portion. AND THEN THE DRINKS... We both had margaritas. The blue agave one taste like nothing but blue agave and extremely sweet. No taste of tequilla..He had the grand which was pretty good. But overall it wasn't impressive read more

Everything was excellent. The atmosphere was slightly European, the staff was friendly and attentive (although they weren't busy). Came here on an outing to Staten island on a Thursday night looking for an al fresco setting with my fiance. We were both pleasantly surprised. Ordered two appetizers. The lamb ravioli and vegetable terrine. The ravioli were amazeballs; al dente homemade pockets of pure pot-sticker goodness, stuffed with bits of pulled lamb shank that had been simmering all afternoon. We decided to split a mango arugula salad (a nice balance of sweet, tart and creamy with nubs of goat cheese) and a seafood stream pot/ frutti di mare served over rice noodles (perfectly cooked shellfish with a nice kick from the lemongrass). What surprised me was that both dishes came on separate plates, without even having to ask. That refreshing level of thoughtfulness is reiterated in the food, service and decor. The outside seating under the pergola is the perfect setting for a date, despite the industrial sized shops floating by. Service was a bit slow as others mentioned but the food and friendliness more than make up for it. All in all a wonderful experience. Were this in brooklyn, you wouldn't be able to get a table. read more

What a wonderful gem of a restaurant on Staten Island! My husband and I went there for the first time tonight. We wanted to sit outside but the hostess said it was a 20min wait but to sit inside it would be immediate. We chose to sit inside and we got to sit by the window with full view of the river and the sunset. Beautiful setting and ambiance! The waitress was very nice. The pita bread was nice and stayed warm. We had chicken wings with teriyaki and mango for the appetizer. It was delicious!! My husband had the shell steak with baked potato. It was cooked to perfection and very juicy. (Yes I had to taste it.) I had the shrimp stuffed with crab over "black" pasta. Even though it was only 3 shrimp, they were big and the dish was amazing! Overall romantic with great food with a desire to try other dishes on the menu next time. That's right, we'll be back! read more

Great lunch on Staten Island off the water. Wait staff could look a bit more alive, hey I know it's on the rock but let's at least pretend we have a pulse even here. Food was excellent. Had several appetizers but with the drinks cannot recall excactly what we had but had it NOT been good we would have remembered. Went to Blue this past Saturday and it was a great evening all the way around; we had to wait for outdoor seating but the wait was well worth it; the setting was beautiful and the food and cocktails were amazing. We also got to see all the dishes come out for other tables and wished we could order the entire menu. The manager and staff were all top notch, we look forward to returning; btw, we never at anytime felt rushed even though they were crowded and people were waiting for tables. read more
