My wife and I just purchased two SUP from Sean and Kevin. They had a wide selection to choose from and after telling them how we were going to use the boards, they made some recommendations. They were very helpful in deciding what boards would best suit our needs. They were very knowledgeable on the boards and answered all our questions. They through in rail tape and paddle guards for free which was awesome. They set up our boards and loaded them up on the vehicle and demonstrated how to secure the boards to the roof racks. We rented boards in the past to get a feel for what size we could handle. One of the perks from renting the boards and buying the boards at Blue Planet was we could use the price from the rentals towards the purchase of the new boards. Just completed a SUP lesson with Moria, and loved every minute! She brought two of the Blue Planet paddle boards for me to try out (Easy Model and Paradise Longboard, I think those were the model names). They were both great boards for this newbie. Moira was super thorough. She explained a lot about proper equipment and basic technique on dry land before taking me out in the water. The dry land instructions helped me get up on the board quickly and stay up (for the most part). As the lesson and my confidence progressed, she introduced increasingly difficult turns. After some trial and error with a few different boards, I'm hoping to find the perfect one to purchase. I'm also hoping to schedule more lessons with Moria in the future! read more

It's hard for me to express how awesome this shop is, but a quick story will help me do it. I recently bought a board from Blue Planet and left my camelback water bottle there. I hit the water with the new board and realized my mistake once I got back to my Jeep. I drove over to Blue Planet and didn't even make it out of the Jeep before they ran me out my water bottle. A lot of shops talk about customer service but Blue Planet gets its right! A couple of other notes: 1). If you go to one of their free SUP clinics you can try out all the boards they offer and get advice from the staff. In the past they have also offered discounts after the clinic. 2). If you rent a board from them they offer a discount towards a board. If you don't want to wait for a clinic this is a good way to try a board without shelling out major cash. Highly recommend Blue Planet! They aren't the cheapest shop for SUP on Oahu but they are probably the friendliest and have a phenomenal product! Don't hesitate to swing in! read more

Came here while I had friends visiting. We rented 2 SUP boards and took them to Ala Moana beach park to paddle around. I don't remember the cost, but it was reasonable price for an all day board rental. The guys there were helpful and friendly. They helped load and unload both boards on the roof of my car, and made sure we knew how to do it ourselves for when we returned. I would rent from them again... read more

I started kite Foilboarding in June 2017 and when I first saw foil wave surfing I knew I had to try it. On 10-02-12 my wife and I walked in right at closing time "6pm" to blue planet surf. it was pretty crowded so we decided to chance it and wait. The first thing I was amazed at was that my family and I were not rushed out because of closing. Once all the other people left I was met with Vince this guy went all out for me and my family. Note: My family and I are in the market for a beginner SUP Board that I can paddle, surf and take the kids on a ride with. I knew a little about what I wanted and a little of the different technology regarding the boards I was looking at mainly Star boards and blue planet boards in the range of 10' 5" by 32"... Vince laid it all out for me and explained the differences with a Star board and a Blue planet board. His customer service was unreal. He was patient in answering all my questions and was willing to go the extra mile by showing me different boards and paddles. Vince also explained the technology of the boards I was looking at. He even related that he had used and at one time owned the boards I was looking at so I got the feeling that he had an intimate knowledge about the boards I was looking at and was able to convey his opinion and knowledge to me. Here is the kicker I told him that I wanted to know what the price of a complete board package was. He literally walked and grabbed each item and placed them all together so we had a visual of what was going on. He set me up with an awesome deal. After that I told him that I was just looking and needed more time to make a decision. Vince was so good that he gave his own time to me irregardless of weather I was going to buy anything. If you want to have someone who is super knowledgeable about the products within blue planet go and see Vince. My plan is to return and purchase the board he recommended to me. The staff at Blue Planet Surf took the stress out of SUP board rental at Waikiki. Email enquiries were answered promptly and there was an impressive range of boards to choose from. This was my first trip to Hawaii and, as an experienced supper, I wanted to hire a quality board. The rental board was in great condition and was a perfect design for the local conditions. The price was great and much cheaper then the rubbish boards available on the beach for hire. The friendly staff delivered the board to my hotel (even with short notice). The pick up entertained us all when Adam turned up on a bicycle to pick up my 9'10" board. He peddled off towing the board on a 'mule' ... very funny. Awesome experience at Blue Planet last weekend!! I have been paddle boarding for 10 years and have finally pulled the trigger on a new SUP foil board. I was vacationing on Oahu and looking for the right surf sup rental board to fit me and the type of break I was going to surf. All the rental places along the beach at Waikiki rent these huge aircraft carrier sup boards. Some actually have exposed foam down the rails. Blue Planet Surf not only hooked me up with the perfect, practically brand new performance board, they met me at beach with it. My husband and I were looking for 2 new SUPs, and after doing research and visiting multiple surf shops I ended up at Blue Planet Surf. Blue Planet seemed to have the largest selection and the most knowledgeable staff. What sold us was their free SUP clinics. We went to one and got to try out about 10 different types of boards before we bought one! We finally decided on two boards, and owner Robert was so helpful and nice during the multiple visits we made to the shop. He even did custom deck pads for us so our dogs can go SUPing with us. I bought my first racing SUP from Blue Planet in March. I was lured into the shop by online ads (Craigslist) showing a huge selection of boards and very competitive pricing. The guys all took the time to talk to me, answer all of my questions and then rented me a board to try. I then came to a demo day and tried out 3 more boards. When I went to buy a board the following week, they deducted the $75 rental fee (up to $200 worth, actually) off of the price of my board purchase. I was a happy camper. Even better, Robert Stehlik the owner is one of the most influential and active guys in the local downwind SUP scene and organizes a training group on Wednesday nights. This training group, in addition to the great fellow paddlers I met there, have been absolutely key in my development as a competitive paddler and athlete. Not to mention, Wednesdays are a TON OF FUN!!!! When I developed a problem with the board's steering system (it is a 14' SIC board with a rudder), Kevin and the team took great care of me. They made an appointment to have my board fixed, rented me a board to train on, and then filed a warranty claim with SIC. SIC decided in my favor and refunded 100% of the repair fee and rental fee to me, via Blue Planet. Of course, I took the refunded money and applied it towards another race board, better suited for different conditions than my SIC. Once again, Robert made me a great deal on a board and I left a happy camper. I now own 2 race SUPs and 1 surf SUP, and am very loyal to Blue Planet due to their huge selection, well run shop and excellent, personally oriented customer service. I have become a regular customer and have sent many friends to Blue Planet. Excellent shop. Highly advise anyone interested in buying or renting a SUP to shop there. A+++, 2 thumbs way up. These guys are too busy doing nothing then to help customers. Bad experience for me. I guess I wasn't spending over a thousand dollars to get any type of quality help. For a small mom and pops shop, they really have poor customer service. I drove 15 miles after talking to a shop worker only to find out they didn't have what I was asking about. After going back and forth for a few months, I finally decided that I was ready to buy a SUP. Went to Blue Planet based on Yelp reviews and proximity of location. Was not disappointed. Solimon was super patient and helpful even when I told him I was only starting my research and beginning to look at boards and was not going to buy anything that day. He spent 1.5 hours with me showing me different things and answering every question I had. I ended up going back the next day with some more questions and again, Soli was awesome. Never once tried to pressure me, push me on something super expensive that I didn't need, or make me feel like I was wasting his time. I went into the store four times before finally making a purchase. Each time, Mike was super helpful.
