Flight boards Hawaii is operated by Keff C., it's located on Channel st., right across of Restaurant Row. It's very easy to find. It is better to call Keff first to make an appointment especially if you're going on the weekend as the building is secured. I heard about this place by word of mouth, then checked out their website. When I called and spoke with Keff he was super cool, polite, easy to talk to and easy to schedule an appointment with. I had in mind which longboard I was leaning to. When I got their Keff was very helpful and just totally honest on what would most likely fit how I surf instead of pushing me in another direction just for profit, he also made things easy by having all the accessories I needed for my board in stock! A one-stop-shop is not just a figure of speech when you come to Flight Boards Hawaii. The prices here are reasonable and totally down to earth! I got set up with the 9'-1" Makaha Epoxy Longboard, board sock, Day bag, and 6.5" box fin... all in a single visit. I need to also mention that the Flight brand Day Bags have a unique design that allows space for the sidebites and a Velcro opening for the box fin instead of a zipper. This allows the fin to be sealed from both ends. In all honestly this review is based on just meeting Keff for the first time and going down to Flight Boards and just simply checking it out. Like I said it's a cool little shop, its laid back, has a vast selection of boards and lots of friendly knowledge!

Hello all skaters!…read more If you're interested in learning how to skates, come check out APB Skateshop and get your first skateboard with them. We were welcomed by Maynard. He seemed knowledgeable about skateboarding. He talked about the speed and acceleration. Skateboard wheels come in different sizes, design, colors, and durability. It's important to know how fast or slow you're moving and if you're looking for an easier or a little harder in turning those wheels. He recommended what is best for beginners without any knowledge of skateboarding. Maynard helped from start to finish. He helped with selecting the wheels, trucks, bearings and axle nuts. I love how he likes to get you involved in putting it together. The experience made it more enjoyable than just having to watch him. This place is located in Chinatown so parking is a little harder to find. You're lucky if you can get street parking. If not, there's a parking lot that charges $5 for the day. It's a bit much but if you plan your day accordingly then it's worth it. You can plan to have breakfast or lunch then check out the open market then hit APB Skateshop for your skateboards supplies! KG may…read morehave made boards in the past that people were buying, keeping him in the biz, but currently he's a hyperbole just tryin to stay afloat. Go to his tiny rented space on Mokauea St. to see for yourself. Many 'Backyard' operations have better facilities than his which is bare-bones at that. He is a one-man operation doing everything himself which is an indication of the volume of work he's asked to do these days. He shapes mainly by eye, racing toward completion while rarely utilizing measuring tools to confirm specifications are met to the buyers' order. His glassing work is super heavy which he rationalizes is what makes his boards stronger and less vulnerable to breakage in heavy conditions. This is fine if you don't mind a classic 'tank' board. However, if you seek a performance board that's built to your specifications, go elsewhere as that's an incongruent concept to KG.

Roi is hands down the best board repair guy on Oahu. I had a brutal accident with my 9' Chronic…read morelongboard -- it flew out of my hands while loading my car and slammed into the pavement. The rail was gashed, the glass cracked, and the board actually buckled. I thought it was done for. Dropped it off with Roi, and four days later I had it back in perfect shape. He charged me $160 and completely brought it back to life -- seamless repair, clean finish, and the polish made it look better than before. Took it out the next morning and it rode flawlessly, like nothing ever happened. This guy is a legend -- fast, fair, skilled, and genuinely good to deal with. I'm lucky he's only a couple blocks away. Best board repair on Oahu, no question.
