Extraordinary stuff. Like many of you, we don't do bread for the sake of it any longer. It's a luxury, an accompaniment to specific dishes that needs to be worth the carb bomb. With the apparent passing of Shadeau, Blue Oven has become the best bread makers in town in my estimation. Their hubcap is an absolutely brilliant reinvention of ciabatta; their focaccia squares border on obscenely delicious. Lots of other hand crafted and whole grain options, and everything I've had rocks. Yet another reason to come to Findlay Market on the weekends! read more

Wanted a pastry to celebrate my birthday and Oh My! Tried a few different croissants and am not able to pick my favorite because they were all so good! But if forced... (from the ones I tried) Cinnamon and Cream would be my pick (I also tried Almond and Chocolate, which were both an 11/10. Kind of sad that I just tried this place after so many years living by in Cincinnati, but rest assured, will make sure that new comers to the city know about this place quick! #bestcroissantever read more

I tried the almond croissant at the Findlay Market in Cincinnati and this was the best croissant that I have ever had. So flaky and yet so moist. I am so happy that I purchased two of them. I ate the second one for breakfast the next day! read more

Very good bread, but the reviewers of this place need to get a grip. It's great, not out of this world. Best of Cincinatti, sure. Best of southwestern Ohio, quite possibly. But there are equally good bakeries in every major city in the country. And the suggestion that it's the best in the *world* is too silly to even think about. If you're a fan of American style breads, you'll probably love it. American style bread is, like American style everything else, defined by quantity of flavor not nuance. It's the Poochie of breads: totally in your face! Take the croissants. They're almost painfully, drippingly buttery, super soft and chewy and heavy, in contrast to a classic French style, which is much lighter in flavor and flakier in texture. I like BOB'S version, but they're not for everyone, and if I had to choose, I'd go with the real French version. Take the majority of their breads. They have a huge selection, but only a handful of traditional styles. The rest are defined by overkill. Sure, we could just put sesame seeds in it, but why not *also* poppy seeds and pumpkin seeds and fennel seeds and apricots and chocolate and cheese and cherries? I'm reminded of Joey from Friends: "what's not to like? Custard, good. Jam, good. Meat, good!" Personally, I prefer almost any bread in the world to American style breads. India and the middle east make the best. After that, a traditional European bread is better, including traditional European style breads from better American bakeries. But this Poochie stuff is nice every once in a while, too. read more

Beautiful hand-made artisan bread in artfully sculpted rounds and loaves also equals quality taste at Blue Oven Bakery. With sourdough, cheese breads, English muffins, a selection of croissants, and much more, it's hard to choose a treat amongst the wood-fired bread selections. Checking out their booth at the Madeira Farmers Market, I decided to go with one of the huge, flaky croissants. I love croissants. With brie. With butter. With chocolate. I settled on Blue Oven's chocolate-filled croissant, and, it was the best croissant I've ever had in my life: buttery tasting and light as air. I can't wait to try more of their selections, savory croissants with mushrooms and cheese and sunflower loaf bread. read more

Blue Oven bakes a wide variety of consistently outstanding breads. I would suggest reading the back of one of the bags while standing in line to learn more about the differences. All of the breads have an amazing, crisp crust and many incorporate seeds, nuts, and dried fruit. The pecan raisin is dense and flavorful. The bread freezes well in case you don't want to go to Findlay every week in the dead of winter. read more

Love at first bite! I first tried the Bad Boy bread at Boca. Oh. My. God. It's fresh and hearty and delicious. Since then I've tried several other breads, but the Bad Boy bread will always have a special place in my heart (don't judge- I am very passionate about carbs). I also love their almond croissants with a little peach preserves for breakfast. Yum! read more

Who knew an English muffin could be life changing? Amazingly delicious. The only problem is that they have ruined all other English muffins for me by setting the bar so high. read more

We picked up the English Muffins and the Potato buns. They both we're really great! We had to potato buns for the Salmon Burgers we picked up at the fish market. read more

The best bakery in town! My favorite are the English Muffins although you can't go wrong with anything the offer. They have their own retail spot but also sell their items at variety of grocery stores and restaurants including Jungle Jim's. read more

Sweet, soft, chewy manna from heaven. I walked past the Blue Oven Bakery booth a few times at farmer's markets, and one day I got a hold of a bread ring and a big ol' loaf of rye. I literally had bread and butter for dinner that night and lunch the next. Their English muffins and pastries are outstanding as well. Worth every dime. Do they make t-shirts? Because I would wear that shirt around and tell anyone who asks me what tasty treats await them if they give it a taste. Best in town, period. read more

These guys don't really need more accolades as they are well known and have a great reputation. Have had their bread many times and always wanted to try their english muffins. At $2 a little expensive but man are they good. Double the size of probably what you are used to and have a very good flavor. Can't pinpoint it but kind of a sweet, airy sourdough flavor. Really good give it a try. Worth the $2. This coming from a person that really likes english muffins. read more

How do go back to plain white bread after getting these little loaves of amazing? Sure, it's a little pricey but its SO GOOD. Seriously, get here early one day and get a loaf, the bad boy and sunflower are awesome! And the english muffins? SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! toast them with a little peanut butter and honey, or some eggs and goetta... mmmm, i know what's for breakfast. read more

This place is just too good to be true!! Everything I get there is just another reason to return to Findlay Market. Besides the bread, the employees are also so knowledgeable and excited to help answer questions. Their breads go great with breakfast, lunch, AND dinner, and don't even get me started on their croissants. Enough said, I LOVE this place!!! read more

My favorite bread in Cincinnati (and maybe the entire US) is the bad boy. It's a whole wheat sourdough with a salt/sesame/fennel seed crust. I pick one up every week and eat a slice once I get home and it's heavenly. The bakery usually has a line and if you get to Findlay late (after 10 on Saturday), they will have usually sold out of most of the good stuff like croissants (almond croissants are the best) or even bad boys. If you like certain things, you can talk to Claude to set up a weekly pull so that you don't have to worry about them running out of your favorite breads. My only gripe is the people in line who always want to ask questions about every single bread. Just try one and come back later. It's so much more fun that way. You can't go wrong with anything they make. read more

Has something changed with the recipe or baking? This place used to produce amazing products. Last winter, we tried Blue Oven for the first time and the quality blew us away. They had a table at the farmer's market in Springfield and people lined up out the door to purchase their products every week. This season, the lines are much shorter and sometimes there isn't a line at all. The last two times we purchased this season, the croissants were burnt and the loaf bread was a bit heavy and dry. So disappointing. Blue Oven was incredible last season and this season, they are rather mediocre. Hope someone reads this and fixes the issues so everyone can enjoy Blue Oven bread again. read more

We got used to the croissant from Zingermans in Ann Arbor so we were quite disappointed when we couldn't find anything similar when we first moved to Dayton. Our last attempt led us to Findlay Market and viola! Now we go there from Dayton at least once a month to get their almond croissant on Sat. We take the kids to the zoo afterwards so we won't feel too bad about making the trip just for pastry. We even got the zoo membership. read more

Simply the best -- the English muffins, the breads, the croissants - if you are making chili or a hearty soup, get a Hub Cap loaf of bread. You can thank me later. read more

Quite possibly the best bakery in Cincinnati. Unique breads, top-notch ingredients. Knowledgeable staff, ask them about the bread you'll learn a lot. Or they can pair a bread if you share your menu plans. Get there early because they often sell out...fast. read more

I regularly travel from Michigan just to get my hands on this bread. It is as perfect as you can possibly get. The quality is top notch every time. read more

Great stuff here. I love going down here to get food and just love Findley Market too. I think I am correct in saying all of there stuff used in making there products are locally grown too. So not only is there bread and food fantastic it is all local. I highly recommend checking this place out next time you are in the OTR area. read more

I don't make it to Blue Oven nearly as often as I would like. But when I do, it is Seedy Mcseedy, Omegatron and Bad girl for me! One of the Gems of Findlay Market, Blue Oven has tasty, often organic, healthy baked treats for everyone. The bread is made from only the finest ingredients and is baked with attention and love. Because of their care, this bread will last a while if stored properly. My tip for the Blue Oven Bakery? Get there EARLY! The line starts early and doesn't stop until the bread is all gone. read more

I usually really like them but the past two times I went they gave me really burnt almond croissants. For four dollars each one I expect better. Buyers make sure to check your pastries rather then have them pick it out for you. read more

Let's just skip the details and say it's my hypothetical last day on death row. When they ask me what I want for my final meal I will direct them to Blue Oven Bakery. Seriously, you only think you know sweet baby Jesus until you've tried their English muffins. We bought a few of them over the weekend and have eaten them plain as a snack, with sautéed mushrooms and artichokes for dinner, and with peanut butter and jelly for breakfast. I still can't get enough. Let's not stop at the English muffins though, literally everything I've had from Blue Oven Bakery has been pure carbo-perfection. Further, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. They once gave us a chunk of bread because my husband "looked hungry." While they travel to different farmer's markets in the Cincinnati area, I mostly know them through their weekend stand at Findlay Market. Be sure to go early because they do sell out. read more

I love, love, love their English muffins! Was there last Saturday at Findlay Market and they had already sold out of them, but the staff allowed me to place an order to pick up on Sunday. The muffins were there fresh from the oven waiting for me! I now am unable to consume any other English muffin due to the taste, texture and overall yumminess of the Blue Oven's. read more

Moving from a small town to a decently sized metropolitan area, I expected to find more artisanal bakeries than what there are. Blue Oven single handedly makes up for that. The almond croissants are truly phenomenal! read more

bar none, this is our favorite place in the city to get bread. highly recommended. get there early on saturdays, before they run out!
