Blue Moose Pizza - Our Super server! - Pizza Near Me - Avon, Colorado

Let me make sure we preface, we are FAITHFUL to Blue Moose and have it very often as we are in Beaver Creek. This last visit wasn't too busy on a Sunday night, and our normal Autumn pizza (sautéed mushrooms, Parmesan garlic, truffle oil, olive oil, and goat cheese) was as disappointing as we have had. We live by the fact that there is no such thing as bad pizza, but there can be severely lacking pizza. We took this pizza as our offering to a large gathering at a home in Beaver Creek. We were sad to see the pizza (pic below) had no more than 5 slivers of mushroom on half the pizza. We checked the other pieces on people's plates, I would testify that there were no more than 3 total mushrooms, sliced, on the whole pizza. The truffle oil flavor was completely absent (this has NEVER been the case) and honestly it was very disappointing. My hope is that it's a one time issue, but for the money...we felt just awful about our offering. There was another mushroom pizza there from another couple and it's my thought that they sliced 35 mushrooms on the pizza and used truffle oil as well. This isn't about 1 place vs another, but it's our hope when we go back soon that they have figured out their issues. Blue Moose is an institution, the $50 we spent that night was awful, we felt like we didn't get our money worth and it breaks our heart. My spouse and I came up to Beaver Creek for a conference for the week and were tasked with identifying a spot for dinner 3 nights in a row. Our first stop was Blue Moose Pizza. We were exhausted from travel and also a little under the weather from the altitude, so we were excited to get some good filling pizza, spicy wings and our favorite anywhere we are going - Caesar salad. Even though they closed at 9, the staff was still happy to take our take out order over the phone at 8 PM for a pick up in twenty minutes, they provided an overview of the options available to us and also made sure to take a number to text us when we were ready. We were fortunate enough to stay in the center of the village, so the distance was an easy walk and our food was piping hot when we arrived. The staff was super friendly and the environment had mid to los lighting with some music.   Now onto the important part, how I rank the food.   Margherita Pizza - 8/10   The margherita pizza was well prepared. It was a lot saucier than I would prefer on my margherita pizza and also didn't feature the tomatoes that some restaurants will implement, however, the flavor of each ingredient was still distinct and made for a really good tasting experience. The crust had a balance between soft and crisp and wasn't too thick.   Buffalo Wings - 8/10 (not pictured)   The wings were a good size, spicy, and coated in sauce. The takeout container they put them in allowed them to continue to be coated in the sauce which made for good overall flavor. The only downside is that we only got one container of ranch after asking for extra ranch.   Caesar Salad - 9/10   The salad was super fresh and had a great balance of the shredded cheese, crisp greenery and the dressing was also very well balanced.   Overall, if you are looking for an easy meal that is satisfying with great customer service - Blue Moose would be a great stop. read more

I'm a local. Let's start there. I love this place. Last night, I was a nanny for children in Beaver Creek. They had three 18inch pizzas, 85 dollars, two with pepperoni and one with cheese. How embarrassing for this place to serve this pizza! I would swear it was made earlier and then reheated as it was burnt, tasteless, and dry. The person taking orders for the pizza was also, apparently, rude to the parents placing the order. I don't know. Calling this a way off night. Not what I am accustomed to at all with this place. (I should mention it was to go and picked up at the restaurant.) read more

Came to Blue Moose Pizza and it did not disappoint! Raheem's suggestions were everything and then some. I had a vodka sour with a slice of "The Big Moose" and my girl had an old fashioned with a slice of "The Autumn." Definitely hit the spot and even took a refill Togo! Well...we used to RAVE about this place and I was so excited to post this review of this place as my last review of the year. Man...we were sorely disappointed. Granted, I got food poisoning from them the last time I was here. That was the time I had the truffle in the pizza. Can happen anywhere but I was ready to go to the hospital. But anyway, hubby went to the window and order wings and pepperoni pizza. Wings were overcooked, we got all drums and instead of pepperoni pizza we got ham and pineapple. Like, why, Universe?! Why?!!! Pineapple is a big NO for us on pizza. Tried calling, no answer so here we are, on New Years Eve with the worst dinner since we arrive in Colorado 2 months ago. Crowded and understated. Last year there were more staff and they were serving drinks while waiting. This year? Pfft. Nothing. We won't return. read more

This truly "Italian" style pizza was fabulous, the type you would get in Italy (different than "Italian-American" style pizza of New York City). - Love that you can order slices before 5 pm, giving you an opportunity to try their innovative creations. - Would not recommend the tomato soup, a staple on the menu. I had lunch here with my friend after walking around Beaver Creek. We shared the large spring pizza (pesto base with artichokes and tomatoes) and also had moscow mules. The pizza was delicious and we had leftovers to take home. They have a lot of unique pizzas on the menu and also fun cocktails. I tried ordering the frozen aperol spritz but they were out. Most pizza places in Pennsylvania don't have alcohol (thanks PA liquor laws), so it was cool to be able to drink and eat pizza at the same place. Food prices are high, but it's Beaver Creek so what do you expect, I guess? $35 for a large pizza. Our total was about $65 before tip for pizza and the two drinks. Service is average. Can't say much for ambiance in here either, but hey I guess it's just a pizza shop. We tried to order takeout here later in the week and it was a 2 hour wait for pickup on a weeknight! read more

Stopped in for their lunch special this week while in Beaver Creek. Can I say that I wanted to go back the next day? The one piece and drink for $5 is the best deal and is just the right amount of food for me. I asked them to cook the slice a bit longer than normal and it came out perfect! Visited Beaver Creek and this was in Vail Village. Lots of delicious choices in Pizza options baked fresh and brought to your table. Also lots of on tap draft choices as well as bottles and wine. A perfect place to wind down after skiing or in between. During our stay in the area we visited twice. Once for lunch and the other time to grab a bottle of wine and sit by the outdoor fire pits near the rink. I would highly recommend visiting their pizza it was delicious! read more

We purposely tried to dine early to avoid the dinner rush, when we arrived there were only two other tables of customers so we figured we would receive excellent service. Well, we were completely wrong. One server and four or five other workers standing around laughing, ignoring us, and/or playing on their phones. We almost got up after waiting 15 mins for our server to take our order but decided to wait it out. Our server finally came to our table and took our order, I ordered a draft beer and patiently waited, after 10 min my wife went up to the group of workers and asked where my beer was, one employee said "oh yeah, we will bring it out shortly". The really sad part is the food was good but the customer service was the worst we've experienced from all of the restaurants in Beaver Creek Village. On a visit this week one of the staff passed around postcards for kids to write on and offered to put a stamp to mail for them. What a lovely touch! Always good pizza and a crowd pleaser. We tried the hawaiian pizza today and it was terrific. We also liked the margherita pizza and tomato soup. Broccolini was delicious but portion really small. Usually we come here for great pizza but the service has been questionable recently. We weren't greeted for over 5 minutes, weren't asked if the food was good or checked on until it came time to pay. Why are the tip options 18%, 20% or 25% when the service sucks? Also, salads are mid and had a lettuce root in it. The pizza slaps every time.
