Small little cafe! Coffee is self served. The best part of the cafe is the terrace which has an awesome view of the harbor. Breakfast is simple. Had two sunny side up eggs with English muffins and home fries (mixed with sweet and regular potatoes). Sadly, the potatoes were undercooked, almost raw. Service at counter was a bit repetitive with our orders but the waitresses who brought our food to our table were excellent. Otherwise...it's an adorable spot for a quick start in the morning.

Blueberry pancakes and farmer's omelette. You can see the one decent bistro chair behind me which I switched to.

We come to Boothbay Harbor every summer and this year we stayed for 10 days, so plenty of opportunities to enjoy breakfast at the Blue Moon where we've enjoyed the blueberry pancakes for many years. Sadly, this year we only ate there once and the reason may surprise you because it certainly surprised us! The morning we had breakfast here, the food was delicious as always! I ordered a farmer's omelette (ham, cheddar & veggies) and it came with a toasted english muffin and home fries. It tasted wonderful but the cheese was stringy and tough... like overcooked mozzarella, so I removed the cheese and finished the omelette without it. The home fries were great, BUT I only received 7 pieces of potato! It was as if they ran out and gave me the dregs before they made more? I don't know but for a breakfast that was almost $15. I expected a serving of home fries, not a few pieces. My husband had the Maine blueberry pancakes and they were wonderful, as they always have been since we began eating here many, many years ago. We also ordered a Maine blueberry muffin and the server kindly asked if we wanted it toasted and buttered (thank you) and it was absolutely delicious as was the coffee. The reason why we ate here only once, instead of every morning of our stay as usual wasn't because I was shorted on the home fries. We stayed away for the following reasons: 1). The chairs on the deck (where we and everyone else prefer to eat) were horribly uncomfortable! Whoever made the decision to replace the chairs with these cheap, wobbly, back-bending, plastic lawn chairs made a BAD decision and it wasn't just my opinion... once one person mentioned it, everyone chimed in and complained! The slope of the back of the chairs force you to recline when all you want to do is bend forward a little to eat at the table. Patrons feel like a bug on its back! 2). The new, cheap plastic patio chairs have a bigger footprint than the old chairs, and they make the deck horribly tight! The chairs are back-to-back, so unless every customer is a size 0, you cannot sit down! Folks were really frustrated at not being able to sit AT their table, or being shoved AGAINST their table due to overcrowding caused by these horrible, awkward, plastic chairs! 3). The staff MUST start posting that guests cannot claim tables until they have an order number. It's the job of the staff to make patrons comfortable and welcome! Rude patrons were hogging tables LONG before they ordered leaving folks with hot plates of food nowhere to sit and eat! It's just plain wrong and something needs to be done about it, even if it's just enforcing a rule that you cannot sit down until you have an order number to place on your table. Seeing folks standing up, trying to juggle their plates and place their coffee cups on the ground is inexcusable! There are a few tables indoors and two or three out back on pea gravel (no view of the harbor, but a few flowers; it's pretty) but most patrons want the view and I think it's up to the management to, well, manage! Great food, great views, horrible seating. Please replace the chairs to sturdy bistro chairs (I noticed you had a few) and please manage the seating. We only had one meal there (out of our entire 10 day stay) because nobody wants to begin their day with frustration. Breakfast should be relaxed and peaceful.

Nice views

Food was decent but not better than the views. You get in line to order your food then wait to have someone bring it to your table. Service was not bad - staff were nice.

Very nice breakfast right on the water. The ordering process is slightly confusing, and the food is somewhat expensive, but it was good.

Still the best joint in fells point for breakfast. If you are in the area and don't mind waiting in a line, this is the place.

but why do they ask if you want real or fake maple syrup? it doesn't seem like a place that would serve fake maple syrup.

Maybe because their reviews have indicated poor service, we experienced over-service: the floor manager checked in with us three times to see how we were doing in a rather obsequious manner which was very off-putting. Our very friendly server checked in with us 15 times (!) so much so that it was a bit irritating as she kept interrupting our conversation. I think that's about 7-8 times too many check-ins over the course of a 1.5 hour dinner. Now to the food which was all VERY expensive: - popover and butter (complementary) - 4/5 - clam chowder - 3/5, $13 for a cup of chowder is a LOT to pay and while i did enjoy the flavor overall, there was an addition (not mentioned in the chowder description) of a swirl of chili oil on the side of the chowder. I did not mix it into the chowder and realized later when I had a burning sensation across the middle of my tongue that it likely from a line of chili oil. This was not a pleasant sensation and for a while I wondered if I was having an allergic reaction to the chowder. It subsided after about half an hour. I'm not sure why adding chili oil to New England clam chowder is a good thing and it also wasn't listed as an ingredient on the menu. If there had been no chili oil, I would have given the chowder a 5/5 for flavor. - 2025 Claw Down Winner Lobster Bite - 4/5, $18 is a LOT to pay for a tiny silver dollar pancake with some creme and a few bites of lobster on top. Maybe it's the caviar that drives that price but I did not think it was worth the cost (but it did meet my goal of having lobster every day in Maine) - goat cheese and peach salad - 5/5, I loved the tiny little fried goat cheese balls and the ratio of goat cheese to spring lettuce to peaches was good with a light dressing. I would have liked a little more greens and a little less radicchio in the spring lettuce ratio though. - halibut - 4/5, it was a sizable portion of halibut with mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. Half of the halibut was done well and flavorful, the edges composing the other half though was rather dry and lacking in flavor. Curious. - scallops - 5/5, five scallops which were very flavorful with a celery puree and three halves of a baby carrot. Delicious but minimalist for sure in its size and presentation. this was the best item we had along with the salad. Note 1: we saw all the other tables receive an amuse bouche which looked like a shooter of something but despite all the check-ins from the floor manager and our server we somehow did not receive the amuse bouche. Note 2: It was chilly so we changed our reservation last minute to move into the dining room as opposed to sitting on the deck, which we were very glad about as it did not appear they have any heaters on the deck which we definitely had in the past times we've dined on the deck when it wasn't even as cold as 60 degrees (as it was last night) For the price and over-service (my husband tried to avoid engaging with the floor manager for the third time when we exited the restaurant but we were intercepted), and good but not great food, I'm not sure we'll be making a point to return to Coastal Prime next time we're in town.

I'm so glad i stumbled into this quaint spot. I was in the mood of a pastry and a coffee and was able to snag a bar seat at the counter since it can get pretty packed with it being such a small space. The coffee was excellent and free refills and self serve. I went for the apple fritter which i think was as big as my head, as the wonderful woman at the counter suggested it. This pastry was the absolute best apple fritter i have ever had. I don't expect something so large and from a vietnamese bakery to be so amazing since i don't correlate apple fritters with Vietnamese food. But i will from now on!!! Perfect crispy glazed exterior and when I say a pillowy inside i mean it was the most softest bread i've ever had. I could only eat part of it and then i took the rest home and air fried it to heat it up and it was just as good if not better!!! I would also love to give a shout out to the hospitality and service. The wonderful woman working the front is extremely well organized and so sweet to everyone. The folks working in the back even come out to greet you when they get a chance! I loved how cozy and quaint it was and will definitely come back for some classic Vietnamese dishes the next time i am in the area! A must try!!

We ordered the peach and watermelon salad as an appetizer while the watermelon and the dressing were amazing. I swear the peaches were canned. That was very disappointing. One of my dining companions ordered the brandy lobster, which is really an appetizer, but she had it for dinner. It came with gnocchi and was so rich and fabulous. We had ordered a side of bread and I was dipping my bread in the brandy lobster sauce. Another diner ordered the scallops with sweet potato risotto, and I had the lazy lobster that came with risotto. I can't even begin to tell you how good all of them were. The food was excellent. My risotto had corn and was a little toothsome, a little more toothsome than the sweet potato risotto. The scallops came with a mashed avocado and roasted beets. My lazy lobster came with asparagus. It was all fabulous. Our server had a few too many tables, but all in all the service was good. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
