If I were to break down everything that was originally discussed, what I was given the option to select, and what has actually been done, I have a hard time understanding why I wasn't simply allowed to make the choices that I originally wanted. From the beginning, I was given options regarding the flooring, cabinets, and countertops. When I asked whether the living room, hallway, and back room could have the same flooring, I was initially told that it would be fine. I was also given options for the kitchen cabinets and countertops. I selected the Maple Oakwood cabinets, and the picture I was shown had black marble-style countertops. To be clear, they were black--not dark gray, charcoal gray, or midnight gray. They looked similar to the countertops currently in the kitchen, but they were specifically black. As the project progressed, the living room was left with the existing vinyl flooring, just different styles, while the hallway, back room, and third room were completed with the same flooring. Yet different from The living room. The back room originally had carpet, but instead of installing carpet, the flooring was changed to match the hallway and other room. I am actually very happy with how that flooring looks, and I have no issue with it. What I do not understand is why, after allowing the flooring to be changed in those areas, I was then told that the living room could not have the same flooring because they had to follow what my policy approved and could not create a mismatch. From my perspective, there is already a mismatch because the living room was left with vinyl while the surrounding areas were given The same flooring. If the decision was going to be based strictly on what the policy approved, then I don't understand why I was originally given options and allowed to make selections regarding these materials. I simply wanted the same flooring extended into the living room so the home would have a consistent appearance. This entire process has been extremely frustrating. I have tried to be patient and cooperative throughout the project, even when after I had came home to check the improvement in my home and come to find out that somebody was rubbishing through my room and my personal belongings. After everybody was well informed not to go into the back room to the right on top of them, not only covering my living room camera, but turned off all my camera system and unplugging them. But the way everything has been handled has left me highly disappointed. At this point, this has been one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever encountered.

I can't think of anything more stressful than coming back from a catastrophic fire in your home…read more The first thing you might realize is that your insurance company is not on your side. Potential contractors show up, and many of them are disturbingly excited by your disaster. You may begin to wonder who you can trust. You can trust Team 1. Marshall and his team have decades of experience. Like every house, there were things in ours that are unusual, and because of his experience, Marshall went nose to nose with the adjuster to make sure we received everything that was due us. The difference between what the insurance company offered and what Team 1 helped them understand they needed to cover was already worth thousands of dollars before the work even began. You are going to face decision fatigue if you have to rebuild your home. What type of faucet? What finish? Paint? Appliances? One day I was on the phone with Team 1's design team for most of an afternoon. I hung up and collapsed, they carried on with another client as far as I know. We had some pretty clear ideas of what we wanted when the job was done, and it meant extra work for both of us. Kristi took our requests in stride, and more importantly let us know when what we were thinking about was not wise. She offered alternatives that made sense, and if we still wanted what we wanted, she helped make it happen. They were clear, frequent communicators in a process that took over a year. Things are going to go sideways sometimes, things no one anticipated are going to blow up. Team 1's experience minimized these inevitable events, and they were gracious and patient when we struggled to understand. At one point, the pandemic made it nearly impossible to source something very important to our satisfaction. In a meeting where I think I went full Karen, Marshall kept his cool, and, even though he didn't have to, they fixed it for us. Team 1 has old school integrity and customer service. You will not do better. During the final walkthrough our fatigue was showing. We noticed every tiny little thing. They wrote it all down, touched it all up. There was even a problem we discovered after move-in that no one anticipated - it was unclear if it was related to the claim. Marshall had his guy go look at it. He explained the process and alternatives if the problem turned out to be extensive, and when it was minor, he went ahead and had his guy fix it for us. The house is beautifully restored. TLDR: These guys are old school awesome.

Day of planned installation, family emergency w our tech, we understood, no problem. Day 2, they can't do it because a hole needs to be cut and area isn't perfectly even. They leave equipment blocking my access to park in garage and take off. We contact fiancés friend who owns HVAC Co in another state who says these are common issues; there's no reason they can't do both. I ask them to come back, offer "a little extra if needed" for time/supplies. They return day 3 but can't finish that day - no mention of extra $$ they'll charge. Tech returns alone day 4, wraps up installation, adds Freon several times and tests system. Leaves with ac working, yay, but job isn't done. Leaves equipment neater this time in garage, and old unit now sits blocking side entrance which leads to front door. Day 5, first morning of comfort and restful night - we're thankful. I receive a bill w/ an extra $1200 (for the hole and shimmy job) and asked to pay in full NOW. New and old water heater (already paid for/replaced) both still sitting on garage floor, loose wires sticking out from the installed unit, the old unit and wood pellet still blocking gate, fiberglass and dust left for us to clean up. We negotiate the hefty surprise $1200 charge to half and I pay in full, hesitantly. Same evening - freon puddle from new unit discovered when ac stopped blowing cold air. We do not trust this company but have no choice but to wait for repair. But hey - they're PAID IN FULL! I'll gladly update if they make it right, but at this point, I'd steer clear if given a do-over with choosing the company. Update Day 6: Techs came back and repaired the leak, retested the system and took the equipment. Everything is working. Update: it's been a few weeks. The AC works which is great! BUT they're not completely finished and seem to have disappeared....We paid their plumber up front for reinstallation of the water heater and he hasn't returned 3 calls/messages. The unit is still sitting in the garage. We're out about 4 hundreds dollars and ..... crickets. We will be filing a report with the BBB as the company is MIA.
