    Cracked panel and wrong color after first time "completed"

    If you value your time, money, or home, I would advise against choosing this company. We were so grateful when we started the process speedily as we had a leak in our kitchen that ran under many cabinets- about a 20k job. The owner came over a Thanksgiving holiday weekend and we felt confident we chose a great company. However, once insurance monies came in, and we had the go for repairs, it was a different story. People began showing up whenever they pleased. I quickly realized I could not trust the people in charge to communicate effectively and I had to call and manage the protect more than I'd like. Painters came 3X because they didn't know wheat to paint , exterior had to be redone 2X, counters had had to be re caulked 3X, tile had to be regrouted 2X, AMONG MANY OTHER QUALITY OF WORK ISSUES. In addition to the work being sub par, they also sent multiple invoices with the wrong amount due, multiple times. Workers were late, didn't show up and of course we had to miss work, reschedule things and deal with these issues as they came. The person repairing tile also told me my grout was 20 years old when my home was built in 2016 and 7 years old. Of course when it was time to pay, they were super eager and uninterested in the finished product. When I felt we were due some sort of discount Matt Barkley offered us a Starbucks card, said it's not possible in the construction industry to give 100 percent and have the job done correctly in one try and said they could not do anything to make us happy or could offer us nothing to feel as if they appreciated us choosing them. This was ironic because he even came to see the mistakes and agreed they were not up to par and agreed if it was his home he wouldn't be content. To their positive, after MANY times coming back the end result was satisfactory. But, that delayed us about 1.5 months. (Initial drying started end of November, entire project ended mid March.) Save yourself time, effort, money, and choose a company who will make a customer for life out of you. This company dishonest, unorganized, and is is good at faking they care; they truly don't value your hard earned money, time, or home you've worked hard for. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else.

    Five Star Restoration In Short: I would highly recommend Five Star Restoration for anyone needing a professional company to address Water Damage, Mold Remediation or Fire and Smoke Damage. During the final phase of our restoration I mentioned to a tile contractor how we had had such a positive outcome from a restoration company. There was total silence from the tile contractor. He then said, "We have never heard a customer who said anything positive about their experience with a restoration company. In fact, we have never felt comfortable working with a restoration company. You were very lucky. In fact, at no time in our experiences would a restoration company build you a temporary structure to keep your kitchen in order. Installing a temporary structure with supporting 2 x 2s to mount your countertop so you could continue to use your sink would be unheard of." That pretty much puts our experience in a nutshell. You need to read no further, you have the picture. The following is our story. Our Story: In late September 2022 we experienced a slab leak in the kitchen area of my home. I contacted a plumber and determined the source of the leak and fixed it. Not obvious to me was that water damage had occurred. The plumber suggested that I contact Five Star Restoration who evaluates the situation to determine the extent of the damage. Not having experienced a slab leak in my past I acted upon my plumber's recommendation and called Five Star. Within an hour we had the Five Star team at our doorstep with the necessary tools to survey the situation. Recommendations made and the work began. Five Star basically took what looked like a burdensome task and worked with us throughout the process from start to finish. We were like a baton in an Olympic relay race passed on from one team member to another as the team got us to the conclusion of the process. The following are the steps to that end. 1. The drying process with fans to dispel the water caused by the leak. 2. Removal of area damaged from 2x4s, dry wall, cabinets and flooring. 3. Provided structure for sink and countertop to temporarily keep us in use of our kitchen (I hadn't realized that a kitchen without a sink is NOT a kitchen). The crew made sure that we had a kitchen before the major repairs began. 4. An estimator began the process of putting together a "cost of repair" to return our kitchen to its original state and remove and replace damaged floor area (we have a continuous floor) to its original state. a. The estimate included ever part necessary to bring our home to its original state. b. We then introduced Five Star to our insurance adjuster and Five Star communicated with our insurance company for us from start to finish, totally. 5. We then met with the Supervisor of the project managers who sat down with us to determine what if anything we may wish to take on ourselves to incorporate upgrades to our original damaged cabinets and floors. a. As the story continues my wife had grasped the idea that, "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste." The result of which we took control of the cabinets and flooring by upgrading both and assuming the cost of the upgrades over the restoration as it had been. b. Adjustments were made to our contract to reflect our wishes and the restoration began. 6. We were assigned a Project manager who we worked with throughout the restoration making timely adjustments to timelines for various contractors to do the work needed to be completed. It did take longer than would have been required if we did not choose to do upgrades, the results were outstanding. During the process I inadvertently caused water to flow freely from the water line from wall to refrigerator when the job was nearly complete. Five Star however came to my rescue with those heavy-duty fans, filled my hallway with strategically placed airflow and saved me from additional water damage as a result of my dastardly deed. No complaining just good customer support. Our home was restored by the first of February. The People: throughout our association with the Five Star team and their contract workers we observed a great deal of respect and support from all we came in contact with. They individually explained their duties and responsibilities fully to ensure a positive outcome. A very professional and focused team was our experience. The following were positive contributors met in order during our restoration as the baton was passed from team member to team member, Daniel Ochoa, Director of Mitigation Services Tony Vasquez, Mitigation Tech (great guy, saved me from my water mishap) Ramiro Avalos, Mitigation Tech Kevin Gray, General Manager Erica Henderson, Estimator Sandy Barkley, Office Administrator Paula Castorena, Repairs Coordinator Matt Barkley, Repairs Production Manager Junior Bernal, Project Manager Tyler Mann, Mitigation Tech and the trade workers from Five Star Restoration Thanks Five Star Restoration for a job well done.     TL;DR I am a crabby old guy and 5 Star made me extremely happy with my kitchen. I'm a guy that has been around the trades. Over the last half a century I have gathered enough knowledge of construction to be extremely annoying to anyone I hire. 5 Star not only had patience with me throughout the entire process, they made me feel part of the process. I had a leak behind my cabinets from a previous owner's remodel. I called Canyon Lake Plumbing and they referred me to 5 Star. When Matt and Junior came to my house the first time, I was very defensive. Being from "back east", Californian is not my native language so I was both worried to offend and worried about being misunderstood. But from beginning to end, Matt and Junior made me feel understood. Things went wrong. As they always do. No construction project is perfect, but what differentiates good from great is the way the company deals with it. 5 Star is a great company. Fast, reliable, and responsible. I would text Junior with an issue and he would tell me that he had already planned for it and gave me the day it would be taken care of. The staff is incredible. From the guys that came for the remediation to Brandon coming in and making sure everything is done, they were not only professional but extremely nice and patient. After the remediation, a representative came by. He was super nice and interested in the project. He went through a little of the process that I was about to embark on and made me feel ok about the project. I found out later that it was one of the owners. That is some great attention to detail. That kind of service was delivered not only from 5 start but every person outside their organization they called in. I met Gary and his son Craig that would be making my cabinets. We decided on Faith Electric, and Walter was so nice and understanding. For more info, please see my post on Faith Electric . I was terrified that to make my kitchen look modern and nice, it would be too expensive. We did have some money from the insurance company, but I wanted to make sure that we had enough for a couple nice upgrades. Matt was fantastic. He gave us a detailed estimate and explained the flow for the next month or so. In hindsight, what they did was worth so much more. They made me feel like they were supplying quality AND value. If you have gotten this far, you really need to pick up the phone and call 5 Star. They are reliable, responsive and most of all honest.

    They tent up the area, so you don't have to worry about any additional mess and I believe it helps dry the wood faster.

    Five Star Restoration saved the day again! I've had to use them twice in 12 months due to 2 different drain pipe cracks in the walls of my 22 year old home. Luckily this latest drain pipe crack didn't cause as much damage as the last one in Jan 2023 (see my previous review). They came out the same day I called. I requested Tyler as he was the estimator I worked with last time and they got him out within a few hours of my call. Danny was my dry out guy and was great! You truly can't go wrong with this company. The first time they dealt with my insurance and it was seamless and this time I paid out of pocket as it was smaller and I didn't want another claim. Both times it was a breeze working with them. Highly recommend them!

    I would highly recommend using five star restoration for any of your jobs. I had a water leak underneath my kitchen sink in my island and had a immense amount of damage. plumber Thomas from Peterson plumbing fixed the leak and the same day 5Star was out, assessing damage and coming up with a plan from Taylor to Ericka and Sandra in the office, made a smooth transition to going into reconstruction, they are all in one business from restoration to rebuild Junior. My project manager. Junior is very trustworthy knowledgeable and has an overall great gift of customer service. His communication on when and how things were going to be done was absolutely fantastic. Junior was always available for any questions I had and there were a lot he reached out to me via text or phone Call and kept me in the loop during entire process. Junior himself deserves a five star rating for having to deal with me. To say I am over highly satisfied with the job they did is understatement, I have other plans to do other household improvements and I will be using them for all of them that I need. It is hard to find trustworthy communicators contractors in this world.

The company has been extremely professional and pleasant to work with. I spoke to Rick at Superior and he was super helpful in answering all my questions and for giving me detailed description of what happens during remediation vs a mitigation, etc. Throughout the process he always responded to me in a timely manner, sent lots of photos and documentation of what was going on, and even helped provide recommendations on how to deal with my insurance. There were moments where I started noticing small but apparent issues with the quality of the work being provided. I brought up many concerns and wasn't given much consideration when requesting certain replacement. In fact after accepting a certain shower they installed another without my approval. I understand that maybe measurements weren't permitting the exact model I approved and expected but to install it without my approval and not even notifying me I was heartbroken. There was no caulking done inside the shower leaving gaps and spaces in both of my bathrooms which I'm sure leads to mold and I have even had mold in those spaces since. I had to caulk the showers myself. And now there is a Crack in the base of the stand up shower that hardly gets used. I'm no contractor but I'm sure the Fondation isn't suppose to feel unsupported when standing on it. I only weigh 125lbs. Honestly I was so happy to be back in my home since this happened not even a year after purchasing my home I let things slide. However,I didn't expect a Crack in my shower and no help from this company when reaching out to them with my concerns. Other than referring themselves to come out and charge a fee to fix their own mistakes. Lesson learned. Homeownership isn't for the weak but companies like this make gut wrenching.

We had a major leak this past year that the owner neglected to address correctly. I expressed my concerns multiple times about moisture and possible mold, but I was dismissed. Months later, I became very sick and couldn't shake the feeling that something in the home was contributing to it. Out of desperation, we called Bud and he showed up the same day. He immediately confirmed an additional leak we didn't even know about, and found 100% moisture in the walls of my bedroom. The relief I felt finally getting answers was indescribable. That confirmation meant everything. When we had to leave that rental in an emergency and move into a new place, Bud came out again that very day to check the new home. He alleviated my fears and verified that the house was clean. Mold illness is real absolutely real and it can completely change your life. I needed to write this review because I'm beyond grateful for Bud's integrity, responsiveness, and the way he dropped everything to help when I truly needed it. I'm also incredibly thankful he validated what I already suspected, when people around me thought I was being dramatic or neurotic. I wasn't I was educated, researching, and listening to my body. He really knows the insurance game and fought for us to get the money we needed to restore or home back This man has a heart of gold. He did exactly what he said he was going to do. Him and his team did a complete remodel, paint flooring m, bathroom and kitchen. We couldn't be happier with the work they did. He was punctual and kept in communication with us every step of the way. We are finally back in our home after 9 months, which should have been 3-4 if the insurance would have paid out.
