This is honestly one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we've had in a very long time, especially because this is a place we used to come to regularly and genuinely enjoyed. We came tonight for a rare date night without our kids, specifically because we've always known this place for having great food, live music on Saturdays, and a fun, lively atmosphere. The difference from what this restaurant used to be was noticeable from the second we walked in. For a Saturday night, the place was practically empty, which immediately seemed strange. We went out to the patio and there was absolutely no atmosphere. None of the TVs were on, there was no music playing, no live music, nothing. When we asked about the music, we were told that the speakers "haven't worked for a long time now." For a restaurant that has always been known for its lively atmosphere and Saturday night music, that was pretty shocking to hear. Then came the menus. We waited quite a while just to get menus, only to find out that apparently they didn't even have enough menus for the customers who were there , despite the restaurant being nearly empty. When we finally received one, our table of FOUR PEOPLE was asked to share ONE MENU between all of us. I honestly couldn't believe it. It was awkward and embarrassing for everyone sitting at the table to have to pass one menu around just so four adults could figure out what they wanted to order. I also asked multiple times for a drink menu and never received one. Then, after finally getting to look at the food menu, we started trying to order and were told that a huge portion of the items listed were no longer available. At that point, I finally asked what was happening because the decline in literally every aspect of this restaurant was impossible not to notice. We were simply told: new owners and new management. Unfortunately, that explained a lot. It is genuinely sad to see what has happened to a place we used to really enjoy. This isn't a review from someone who came here once and simply didn't like it... we've been here many times before, which is exactly why the difference was so shocking. The atmosphere, organization, menu availability and overall experience have declined dramatically. No live music on a Saturday. No music at all. TVs off. Speakers apparently broken for a long time. Not enough menus for an almost empty restaurant. Four people being asked to share a single menu. No drink menu despite repeatedly asking for one. And then finally discovering that a large portion of the food menu isn't even available. This doesn't feel like the same restaurant anymore. I sincerely hope the new ownership and management turn things around quickly because, based on what we experienced tonight, I genuinely worry that this place won't be around much longer if things continue this way. We came here expecting a fun Saturday night date at a restaurant we already knew and liked, and instead had one of the worst and most disappointing dining experiences we've had in years. The restaurant offers very nice open bar area too. There is plenty of parking space outside. The service was friendly and attentive. It's been here for years, but this was the first time to visit, and would recommend stopping in when you're in the area. We were a table of 5, popping in around 1230. We celebrated my Son's 50th birth day at Blue Agave this past Sunday. Had over 20 people as guests and served their famous fajitas. It was a total success, people were happy except for the Texans loosing their game. The food was great, right temperature and plenty of sides, guacamole was fresh and delicious, queso, chips were warm and fresh and so were the red and the green salsas. Service was excellent, they helped us finish arranging the tables and decorating with ballons and the usual parafenalia. Serving the buffet style was also flawless and they came by often to clean up dishes and offer anything. I am glad we chose this venue for this celebration. It went seamless and had a great time. The food was a great value for the money. We had our own room with a TV and wi-fi connection so all had a great time. Blue Agave was a great place to celebrate. The Ambiance was great, service great and cordial, just like doing it at home, without the hassle of the clean up. Definetely recommend this place read more

I came with a few coworkers for a quick lunch. The chips and salsa were great. The salsa is served warm and is clearly homemade, it has the perfect level of spice. Cheese should be creamy in an enchilada. No comment on refried beans, i don't prefer them. Rice, while o really liked it, it was heavy on the veggies (green onions, bell peppers, tomatoes) Beef fajita al carbon: don't think I've been served al carbon this way, it was pleasing to the eye. The beef was tender and perfectly cooked. Topped with their white queso. I enjoyed the texture and flavor, but.... There is a lingering flavor. Not smoke, maybe charred. Whatever they did, they could omit that and it would've been 100%. Charro beans were great, soft and flavorful. For me, rice was fantastic. I loved the carrots, peppers, green onions, etc. delicious Forgot chips and salsa! Chips were the perfect crisp with the right consistency to be a great vessel for salsa. The salsa.... A very friendly and unique area that I found after feeling ill from walking in the 100 Houston heat. When I walked in, I remember the bar mgr went around with concern and he handed me water after water, they offered chips and salsa, the chips were fresh made and perfect texture and warm. The staff came by multiple times, guessed my needs before they came out (more napkins, more salsa, etc) and my food and super cold Modelo with a frosty mug came out super fast. This place used to be a bit up scale it's no longer that. Around 5 pm we took my MIL to enjoy nice food and good conversation we thought it would be a good idea but not for what we were looking for. I suppose this is a great place for people that love loud, music, drinks, and fast service. So if that's what you're looking for this is the place. Besides there's a pub that you can go to if you want to keep going. We did see big families so accommodating to big crowds is their thing too. If I was who I was 12 years ago this would be the right place so I would give it a five star rating but because things change and people change....key word CHANGE I would give it a 3. Originally, I was going to go to the other Mexican restaurant across the street and something told me to turn the other way and I did and I'm glad I did. Everybody was nice and welcoming. We started with a cup of queso and it was so good. The salsa was absolutely amazing! It was really fresh too like they just finished cooking it when they brought it to our table. We ordered the combo fajitas, beef and chicken. They were really good everything that came with. It was good. The person helping us was Elizabeth. She was very kind. We were visiting from our home in Las Vegas. Blue Agave was close to our hotel so we chose convenience. Having lived in California I grew up loving good Mexican food. Sadly, I can't give this restaurant a great rating. First, the prices were quite high which is OK if the food warrants it, the food didn't. I had beef tacos with fajita style meat. In one taco the meat was really tough and had tendons. I literally couldn't chew it. The rice was crunchy! I could say tough, but it was dry and crunchy is the best term. It was like the rice sat under a heat lamp for a long time. The beans were ranchero style and were pretty good but they added pepper to it (Serrano) and it was a little spicy, the same with the guacamole. My wife had shredded chicken tacos and felt they were pretty good. I wanted to like this place. It had good, friendly service and out back they had a beautiful patio. Sadly, they nice ambiance and friendly service didn't overcome the other short comings. read more

Food was good, large portions. The wait staff was very nice. When we walked up to the entrance I made a comment it was a bit trashy and not welcoming. A sign on the building was broken and only half was there. The inside was nice, we sat outside and tables were old and wood splitting, definitely can't be cleaned between guest. I think there used to be a waterfall but is now all weeds. There were 2 tall tables by the empty fountain and were trashy looking and I can't imagine anyone would sit at them. The bottom of the outside bar was rotted out looking like critters would go in it. They just really need to take a few days and have junk hauled away, grass planted and fill in fountain w sand for kids to play in. Needs some serious help with pride in ownership or people will not come. I don't think we will go back without changes. read more

Perfect for a date night or any other night. If you enjoy midday margaritas, they have a kickass margarita special. $3 at three, $4 at four, and $5 at five. There's also other happy hour drink specials and food specials. Combined with their daily bar specials, there's some good deals to take advantage of. I do enjoy how they have some more infrequent options on the menu such as ribs and seafood options like mahi mahi, and snapper. The cilantro rice is to die for. I highly recommend the mahi special, which includes scallops and mahi-mahi, topped with a delicious cream based sauce. It was pure perfection! Definitely worth checking out! read more
