Well the food was good from here but the last time I ordered the delivery driver brought me food from a totally different restaurant that was not only nothing close to what I ordered but horrible and about $12 cheaper than what I ordered from Blue Agave. I called the restaurant and whoever answered the phone told me it wasn't their problem. He said the driver came in they told him which order it was and asked to use the restroom and that was as far as their responsibility went. They didn't have to make sure the order went to the right address. He also said I wasn't in their normal delivery zone so they wouldn't replace the order. I have no idea what that means. If I'm not in their zone why are they taking orders from me? Anyway he could have cared less so I had to call Grubhub to get a refund but I will never order from them again obviously. The food I ended up with was so bad I tossed it in the trash I hope the person who got my food enjoyed it! We came here for a family dinner and quite enjoyed our meal. We opted to sit outside since the weather was beautiful and we started with some nachos and drinks. The drinks were okay and nothing to rave about, the nachos were also pretty decent. The service was impeccable and everyone tended to our every need. The food however was okay and seemed to lack some flavor, it's really hard to get Mexican food wrong but blue agave somehow failed to make it right. Ive been to Blue Agave a few times and I always have a good experience. They have great drink specials and good selection of appetizers to snack on at the bar. The Pernil is the best ive ever had..not dry and chewy. Clean bathrooms, nice outside patio. Only negatives are the sangria and the mosquitos. read more

Horrible customer service. An item in my delivery order was missing so I called and asked to just be refunded for it. The manager, Francis, got on the phone after I explained the error to the staff member who answered my call-- he was clearly irritated and accusatory, insisting I had the item in my delivery. I have no idea why he was so hostile.... it was simply an error on the kitchen's part - no big deal. However, I do want the refund for it as I didn't get the item paid for. I'm waiting on Delivery.com to resolve this issue and get my money back as he will not return their calls to authorize the refund. Great service and delicious food. I really enjoyed my three taco mix, which included fried tilapia, chicken, and steak. The tacos were stuffed with a lot of ingredients but they were easy to munch down without making a huge mess. Food was tasty and fresh, nothing particularly outstanding but on par with the other nice Mexican food spots in Bay Ridge. Staff was really nice and accommodating. We tried it out during 3rd Avenue Fest so we got to enjoy outside seating, I'm not sure if the place is big enough to accommodate a busy weekend night so there may be a wait. A little hole in the wall in Bay Ridge Brooklyn, in between two other great tiny places, lies Blue Agave - and YES you have to sit in the outdoor seating because sitting in a Bay Ridge backyard is the greatest thing ever. The food came out quite fast and was delicious and fresh. Between the bartender and the waiter I was talked into trying one of their amazing fruit margaritas (Tamarind) but instead of using tequila, they recomended I try it with mezcal and to my surprise...it was delicious and refreshing with a very unique flavor. Perfect place to chit chat and eat while in here! Came here for brunch with my girls and wow we stood here for 3hrs+ continually ordering! It was that good! Nice Spanish music vibe and great service! Started off with the guacamole with chips and that was delicious! Fresh avocados!! Then we all orders the skirt steak for bunch surprisingly not planned! We were hungry after the guacamole!! Came here during Happy Hour. They have great happy hours from Monday-Thursday. I think(!!) it's from 5-10pm? $10 off pitchers, so our margarita pitcher came out to be $24. Super delicious and they are not shy with the alcohol! They also have $5 apps: wings, empanadas, and other finger foods. My co-workers stayed for a little over an hour, talking about useless girl obnoxious things and the staff were so patient with us! Went here because my friends and I wanted some really good Mexican food to celebrate my birthday and it was closer to home than going to Manhattan. Was super impressed by their drinks, they're at a good price as well. Loved my mango frozen margarita that I bought another one after. My friends loved the food and we had a great time. The waiter was super nice even after we waited until the end of our meal to ask for our checks to be divided into two. They sang happy birthday and their flan was delicious and even went out of their way to bring us 4 free shots to celebrate. I would recommend it to anyone. read more

I had a pretty bad experience eating at Blue Agave. The staff was very impatient with my family and I, as we were waiting for one extra person. We ordered appetizers, which haven't even come out yet, when we were approached about ordering meals and said "still waiting for one person", then waiter looked at his watch, as if we were running out of time or wasting his time. Needless to say, that was RUDE and unprofessional. Terrible service. The food was not good, I ordered a chimichanga, I know what they are. This was not one. It was not deep fried at all, just put in the toaster for a few. It wasn't good at all. The appetizers tasted like frozen reheated meals. The only plus side was that the mojitos were pretty big. But that doesn't even make me like this place. I won't recommend this spot to anyone, and I definitely won't be returning. Get real, authentic Mexican food right across the street at Mandato or Las Margaritas. This is one of the newer eateries that has decided to make its home in Bay Ridge. My mother-in-law and I went here on a whim for a late brunch. They have a great brunch menu! Many of the options for food include a mimosa or a screwdriver. For $15 more you can have unlimited of those two drinks. Not bad eh? The drink menu is typical for a mexican place, but they have some fairly original cocktails available. They have a HUGE margarita. We are talking like Tiki Bowl size. They also have an Horchata Martini that I will definitely come back to try. That day, we ordered Juevos Rancheros and the Skirt Steak breakfast meal. The skirt steak was a little tough, but the flavor was not bad. Aside from the steak, the rest of the food was very acceptable and satisfying. My screwdriver was pretty stout! My mother-in-law's mango mimosa was perfect. OH AND I ALMOST FORGOT! The chips and salsa is house made fresh. It wasnt spicy but very flavorful. This was impressive for me. Most places dont make their own salsa anymore. The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. The food was acceptable. I think this would be a win for you if you went here. read more

This place is absolutely delicious. I went to dinner last night and had such great food and drinks. I tried the guava margarita and pineapple margarita. Both had such great taste! For appetizers I had the jalapeño poppers and elote asado. I'm not a big fan or corn but after trying this one, I will deff order the corn next time I come to Blue Agave. The Jalapeño poppers did not disappoint. I liked that the jalapeños had shrimp inside and on the outside it was covered in bacon! The tacos never disappoint. I had two hard shell tacos. The food is pretty good. The servers are fantastic. However they play music like crazy loud on certain days and it is so irritating and crazy. They want to Make it like a club but it's not a club. There's no dancing. It is a restaurant. If you want to talk to your friends or your significant other, forget about this place. We were screaming on top of our lungs at each other. Even the waiters can hear our orders. Then they overcharged us on our checks and when we pointed that out they said well that's for credit cards if you're paying with cash we'll take it off - PRIOR to even mentioning that. So they're just overcharging at first and only say something if people catch it and speak up? That's messed up. Most restaurants state clearly on the check a the fee if paid with credit card. In addition, the whole time I'm trying to scarf down a burrito, there's a guy with a camera constantly moving around filming diners. The whole hour we were there. That can be overseen but still c'mon. So if you're looking to have a good time with friends enjoying food, sure go here. This place is a hidden gem I found because of Yelp! I eat out in Bayridge often and have never heard of Blue Agave until I saw it on Yelp so I decided to give it a try. We came in on a Thursday around 6:30pm and they had live music being played which was a nice surprise. The restaurant is small but very cozy. We were seated and our server came over to tell us happy hour was over at 7 and to order drinks now if we wanted. I got a margarita on the rocks for $5, which was delicious, one of the best margaritas I've ever had and the price can't be beat. As an appetizer we ordered beef nachos which were out of this world, they were so tasty. For my entree I got the steak fajitas with a side salad. The steak came out on top of peppers and onions on a sizzling plate. The side salad came with a few pieces of queso fresco in it, soooo good. My boyfriend ordered the chicken burrito which I had a bite of that was also so good. The food here was delicious and the service was also great. Came in here after high expectations from a trusted friend, but the bar may have been set too high. Although the brunch was tasty and in typical Mexican fashion, there is not much going on here besides that. Maybe It was circumstance, but from spoiled milk to multiple things from the menu not being available. The outdoor seating was nice, but even that had a caveat. The table we were sitting at was in need of some maintenance , and as a result , It was very wobbly at a touch and beverages were spilt as a result. However, all in all, I will likely return with the intentions of trying different items off the menu (perhaps during a weekday, as they advertised appealing weekday specials and happy hours). Dinner Review Overall the food was pretty decent. Staff was very attentive, asked us several times if we needed anything. Really tasty mezcal Margarita, complete with chili lime salt at the rim. I had the guava one, could have used more mezcal, I didn't get enough of the smoky taste. Appetizers: Steak empanaditas - they were just OK, lacked seasoning and flavor.. Anddd didn't come with any dipping sauces. Mango ceviche - Maybe the pieces of fish were cut up so small they were barely noticeable. They should call this dish mango salsa with 3 shrimps on top. I always try fish tacos when offered. It was pretty good but again pieces of fish were too small. I liked the spicy bits of jalapeño with the smoky Chipotle aioli. You also get the option to add guacamole (a nice hefty portion) on your tacos for just $1.50! Overall good experience for low key dinner and drinks. read more

This place is one of my favorite spots in Bay Ridge. I've been here a few times. The food and drinks are always on point, and the décor and music are great (so long as you don't mind the music being a little loud). The brunch is a great deal, too (5 drinks for $15). The outside garden area is fantastic, too. They can be a little slow on the drinks, like they forget to ask if you need another or they take a while to get the subsequent rounds. Me and my finance just had an engagement party here and it definitely met our expectations as well as our guests. First we'd like to give a big thank you to the manager, Francis. He was able to work with us in terms of setting everything up and was there the day of to help out and assist whenever needed. Now for the restaurant side of things; the food is really good. Probably some of the best latin food in Bay Ridge and it's not necessarily even close. I've been coming here since this place was FKA Los Pollitos and the food is as good as it's ever been. A couple of favorites of mine are the roasted chicken with rice and beans, beef empanadas, and their guacamole. Their drinks are really good as well. Their margaritas are all fresh and they dont use any of that pre-made margarita that a lot of other places in the area do. This place is probably a hidden gem when it comes to their happy hour as they have some of the best deals in the area combined with quality food and drinks. The inside is a little small, but outdoor space more than makes up for it. We were able to have our engagement brunch outside and it was a real hit. If you're in the area and are looking for a nice sit down lunch/brunch/dinner or just wanna grab a drink and maybe a little something to eat after work look no further. This is the spot! read more

The few times I have been here I have always ordered the ropa vieja with rice and black beans and a side of maduros. It is always just fine...not overly flavorful...at all. The chips with guacamole are also just fine...chips are never warm and certainly do not taste homemade and the guacamole is pretty good...seems very fresh and house made...smooth and chunky...good combo. It would appear as if there is no one in the kitchen who has any passion for what they are preparing....just turning out plates... Will I return? Guacamole and burritos were delicious! Happy hour drinks were reasonable for Bay Ridge ($7 for sangria, $9 for bulldogs) compared to other competitors in the area. Cons: No free chips or guacamole! There were barely any chips with the chips and guacamole appetizer for $9, but they gave us more chips when we asked at no additional charge!
