I ordered a lunch of 10 wings medium with a side of hot. To go. Back at the office I was disappointed to discover an order of practically bone-dry wings. Criminal in a wing town. And no side sauce at all. They just neglected to include it. Go Directly To Jail. All for the awesome fee of $15.12 Bah. I want my $ back. read more

Blu Wolf Bistro - where's the damn sauce??? zzzzzzzzzz - Gastropubs Near Me - Rochester, New York

Blu Wolf is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Rochester. They're always open to feed your needs for brunch, lunch, dinner, and late night. I love their Hangover bowls for brunch, esp the ones with mac cheese and pierogis. I love their burgers, esp the Mac Daddy with a Mac cheese patty on top of the burger with a delicious cheese sauce. The bent arm fries are the ONLY thicker fry I like. If you're not feeling a burger, get their pulled pork mac cheese grilled cheese or Cajun shrimp caesar salad. French onion soup is great too! For dessert, definitely try the smores adult milkshake! You can't go wrong a Blu Wolf! read more

Great stuff. Excellent food. The place has a really nice outdoor dining area. Love it there.

I love it here! the staff is always amazing and so is the food. always a good vibe. Kevin is the best

Our waitress was nice, attentive and pleasant. I ordered the Waygu Burger, medium. It came with the wrong side. They took it away and brought it back with the correct side. The burger was supposed to have crispy onions, it had caramelized onions (complete opposite of crispy) & was well done. I actually think I got someone else's meal. I mentioned the onions & they totally brushed it off. At $25 a burger, I would think they would try to compensate somehow, but I guess you have to make a bigger fuss. We were there a couple of years ago (hadn't been back because they didn't care that the on tap beer was wrong-didn't offer a replacement-and the food took an hour-they weren't busy at all) but that's the end. Do better Blu Wolf. At least pretend to care, especially when your patrons aren't making a big fuss, just trying to get what they ordered. Restaurant was only half full, with one person sitting at the bar read more

We (a group of 8) had lunchtime get -together today @ Blu Wolf. We originally planned to enjoy summer day and dine outside. However, they suggested we eat inside bc bees were disrupting other diners outside. So we took their recommendation. Our server (Victoria) was very pleasant, helpful & accommodating. Everyone was pleased with the various options on the menu and enjoyed their meal. She had no problem with handling separate checks (8), and handled that operation smoothly, as well as post lunch boxes to go. We were able to enjoy our time together and chat with each other without being rushed. I would definitely recommend the Blu Wolf for those considering lunch on Park Ave. read more

Great lunch! Loved the burger and service. Enjoyed the apple and pearl ciders.

Walked in around 3:30 on a Saturday for a late lunch - waited at the door for longer than I feel would be normal. We were about to walk out when we were finally acknowledged by someone and seated. Once we were seated, took awhile for us to have someone come and get our drink order. The place was not insanely busy, but perhaps they were short staffed. Once we were finally waited on, one of our beers we ordered was not available, so that was sad. Moving on, we finally ordered an app and our entrees, and the food made up for the wait time (which may have been almost normal, but I was starving so take 5 minutes and multiply by 20!). We ordered the wolf bites as an app - and they were phenomenal!! Their sauce is amazing, and has a little zing to it that really gets your tastebuds awakened. I ordered the Guinness burger and it was SOOOOO good. The sweet potato fries were a little thick & soft, but the cinnamon sugar topping made up for that. All in all, I would go back if not for anything - their delightful beer selection. Just wish you luck if they actually have the beers still on tap. read more

Good choice for a nice, filling meal on Park Ave. It's a small place in a prime location, so expect to wait for a table. Was surprised with the menu variety. There really is something for everyone here. I got the green thumb with a side of cucumber and tomato salad. The salad was delicious and a great alternative to fries. The burger was decent. I've had better veggie burgers, but I would get again. read more

Friendly and extremely quick breakfast service. For breakfast you can't ask for more. The breakfast now was perfect. Lots of heat on the chorizo but perfectly balanced with the egg and sour cream. The bacon on the Benedict was amazing. Thick cut and perfectly cooked. The only thing I wish was different was the hollandaise sauce was a tad too sweet for my taste but everything still was delicious! To finish it off the buy one get one mimosa was perfect. Perfect for a breakfast/brunch date with my wife. Would highly recommend. read more

Been here several times in the past and the food has always been very good. The service has been good or even great at times. The family enjoys coming in from the suburbs to experience all that the Park Ave area has to offer. So that made the Blu Wolf a popular choice for Father's Day late lunch. We rolled up to the front door at 2pm to see a hand written sign "closing at 3pm" which seemed odd since the on line hours said they were open until midnight. After standing there for about 5 minutes, someone from the kitchen crew rolled out and said they were closed. No reason was given just "closed". I know it is hard to find reliable help but this is unacceptable. Leadership needs a plan B for when employees call in. The 6 of us ended up going back to Fairport and spending $300+ on a nice lunch and drinks at Tin Cup which was very nice. May go back to BW but not anytime soon. Too bad because we really liked it there Would suggest you call before heading down to make sure they are open..the online hours apparently don't apply hours on line said open from 9am to read more

Very strong bistro menu featuring several excellent Hamburgers and some surprising starters, including the best tomato bisque i've ever had. i would eat that every night, and might for the next few. it was mid afternoon when i got there and they were having a bit of a rush,so the service was tested, but they did fine, considering. I don't drink but there were lots of beers too. read more

Came here for Sunday brunch with some girl friends. The buy one get one free on mimosas and Bloody Mary's is great ( $6). I'm usually not a fan of bloody mary's so our waitress offered us a sample which was nice. The food was good and filling. Staff was nice but slow and forgetful. My friend ordered home fries but received what looked like hash browns. We weren't sure if that was a mistake or if those were actually what they called homefries Overall nice place but pricey. I've been here 4 or 5 times. Always had great food experiences here. Love the dorito burger and any burger truly. They're appetizers are very good too! The Only not great experience I had was from a bartender who made bad drinks. They mixed up a strawberry margarita by putting spicy jalapeño tequila in it and made the Long Island iced tea funky too. That's why it lost a star. That experience wouldn't prevent me from coming again though. The bartender ultimately admitted her mistake and made a new drink read more

This is a nice gastropub. We shared an order of wings medium they came with blue cheese and celery- I give them a 10. This place is one of my go-to places for really good food with a trendy atmosphere. I absolutely love the set-up and design of this place. Every time I go, the servers and hosts are friendly. This is a plus, since I feel like this seems to be lacking these days. Their Pretzel Fondue is a must for an appetizer. I had the Wolf Bites one time and I wasn't impressed. My favorite meal here is brunch. It's usually my first choice for brunch. Their "bowls" are ridiculous. Think breakfast garbage plate and they come in a variety of ways. They recently revamped some of the items on their menu and there are some interesting new things. My new favorite is the Gastro Plate which is their version of the garbage plate and it's absolutely INSANE! It has Mac n cheese (theirs is very good), bent elbow fries TOPPED WITH CHEESE SAUCE (holy freakin cow), with a cheeseburger on top, and topped with meat hot sauce. I dream about this and I want it again as I type this!!! This place is a gem in Park Ave! read more

Love the patio area and the vibe of Park ave. Our lovely family treated us to brunch and of course I had to try the lunch side of the menu. The sliders were so delicious and cooked medium with tomatoes with caramelized onions, the buns were so fresh and soft. The dirty/sloppy Mac is basically meat sauce inside the Mac and cheese, which was delicious after some salt and pepper. Our server was very pleasant, he apologized for the inconvenience of the cappuccino machine being broken. But I got him to offer of coffee and that made our day. Definitely come here to vibe out with friends and listen to music while you people watch. read more

Someone please call the health department! They serve raw meat here! DISGUSTING!!!!!!! Do not go there! There are tons of other places to go to. Don't waste your time or money! They also hold eating competitions and serve raw food in those too! Let's not let this place get away with this insanity! That is just downright sick! Plus, they could literally kill someone! Their customer service is horrible also! Call Jon Taffer from Bar Rescue!!!! I would provide photos of the raw meat, but to protect their identity, and respect their wishes, decided not to. We decided to take a walk along Park Ave to find something to eat, we had our dog with us so we needed to find a place with patio seating on a sunny Thursday night. We saw some openings and were quickly seated in the ample outdoor space at Blu Wolf. I had been to Blu Wolf one time for only drinks and this was my first full dining experience. So many parts of the experience were on opposite ends of the spectrum so I'll go with the pro and con approach in this review. The pros: The beer list is excellent! They have a ton of draft lines with some harder to find beers. I had my eye on a Single Cut that was kicked but was happy to find some of the last of the Genny Kolsch in town and had one of those. The price points for good beers are really good, and calibrated to drink size, you can get a 20 oz Genny for $5 or a 13 oz Imperial Stout for $6, so there is no sticker shock and you get the right sized beer. The service was great! We had an item we didn't like and when I told our server he was quick to remove it from the bill. This isn't a requirement for me by any means- I order it, I eat it, or I don't. This was a pleasant surprise. The cons: We aren't meat eaters and the menu is very burger and meat heavy. I was excited to see a lobster roll, but passed it up because I'm don't like sriracha and that was a main ingredient. I went with the tomato soup and a side salad, and my partner had a quinoa burger. Spoiler alert, the thing we didn't like or eat was the quinoa burger. This burger is starch on starch and not a great substitute for a burger. I'll say this, while I totally appreciate people making house made veggie burgers, there are also some really good ones on the market that taste better. The tomato soup was tasty and not overly heavy, it was served with a mini-grilled cheese. This was the best part of our meal. The side salad was a bit bland with diced tomatoes, mixed greens and not much else. We will be back for craft beer and patio seating, but we will skip dinner. read more

Well a few things come to mind but the first 2 things are that they have mice. I mean the few times I have been there I've seen a mouse almost everytime. 2nd of all the food used to be really good but when I got the chicken Cobb salad it had only half the ingredients and the chicken was so cold! When I told the server she came back with what looked like the same salad and she had so much attitude, I couldn't believe it. This place used to have amazing food, really fun staff and an amazing cocktail list but for some reason for the last year or 2 they just have become lower end park ave food! It's a sad day when magpies pizza logs are better than your salad or burgers. Hope they turn It around! read more

Good atmosphere, nice waiters, and good food. You can also watch sports here if it's not crazy busy.

Surprisingly, this was my first visit here, but it definitely will not be my last! I went here on a Friday night with a group of 10 people. We called for a reservation a few days in advanced and they had no problem seating us right away. From there we ordered a bunch of appetizers, entrees and dessert. The service was great for how packed the restaurant was and for the size of our party. I ordered the Cajun Shrimp and Chicken Pasta dish, I know they're known for their burgers, but I couldn't resist this! This dish was delicious!!! I would definitely recommend it if you like something with a little kick to it! I also thought it was reasonably priced for what it was and the portion of it. My roommate ordered a fish fry, which looked awesome! Usually she would get a burger, but she decided to switch things up and was really pleased. To the end night we split a dessert fishbowl, which had brownies and ice cream in it. 4 of us had shared the fishbowl, but we couldn't even finish it! Once again, I thought it was very reasonably priced for what it was. Overall I love this place and will definitely be back to try a burger! As the weather gets nicer I'll be sure to visit on a night where I can sit outside. I can't believe I waited so long to visit! read more

Overall I had a decent time at the Blue wolf Bistro. It was a nice outing after months of being inside as the location has a decent outdoor area which is mostly covered. The location is very central to Park Ave which is always a plus so it's super easy to find. The service was very nice, efficient, and attentive given the current limitations and regulations. The restaurant also appears to be adhering to face covering and social distancing as much as possible. My negatives mostly came with the food. The food was overall pretty decent but there were some peculiar things that I didn't like. I got the wild game burger and I think the menu needs to do a better job explaining how it works because I had to ask the waitress to make sure I was understanding it correctly since it wasn't fully described. However I think the idea is fun, as you can try some new and interesting meats like bison! When I got the burger it was a little under whelming, not much seasoning nor taste. I think I would have preferred a normal burger. I got the sweet potato fries and to be frank they just weren't good. They were not cooked completely as they were too thick (think sweet potato cut into 6 pieces thick) and they were barely seasoned. My friend got the lawful waffle and she thought it was decent but her waffle was burnt and this not as appealing to eat. Overall I wasn't thrilled by my dining experience but just happy to be out of the house! read more

My boyfriend & I had to get back home because of the weather but if we had time we would've asked for the manager to make sure our server was properly recognized. Andy was hands down one of the best servers we've had since we could remember. Extremely hospitable and knowledgeable about the menu as well. I had ordered a sunny d seltzer, and he remembered that when the bartender accidentally made an extra drink (the sangria). He immediately came over to us and said i thought you might like this because you had ordered the sunny d, and the sangria was one of the best drinks I've ever had it was so good. So, my sister and I were searching for somewhere to have dinner, tonight, Monday 8/16/21. We wanted to sit outdoors, so we headed down to Park Avenue in Rochester, NY. We went into the Blu Wolf Bistro. It looked like a cute little place and we were immediately seated. We both ordered the blackened chicken caesar salad. When it came it was huge and it looked really good and it tasted good also. Then we started finding pieces of rotten lettuce in it. We picked them out and we told the waitress about it. She was very indifferent. She didn't say "I'm sorry, that's awful", "let me get you another one". She just said "okay I'll tell them". You'll see the pile of rotten lettuce in the photo. The salad was actually very good, but her attitude, with no apology or no empathy at all, was zero. I had to ask her to remove one of the salads from the bill, but we tipped her for the entire bill as if we were being billed for two salads. We just won't ever go there again. With so many choices of places to eat, businesses are in competition with one another and can't afford to lose customers. Especially, when they're short staffed. This girl has a lot to learn about life and how to react to people. It wasn't her fault, clearly, but she showed no emotion, no customer service whatsoever. Having been in customer service myself for years, I can't even imagine reacting the way that she did or should I say her lack of reaction. I would have been mortified, as a waitress and apologetic. Someone needs to intervene or this girl will no longer be able purchase her false eyelashes and have beautifully manicured finger nails. NEVER AGAIN!! read more

The food was horrible. I order the chicken caprese grilled cheese and the bread a was soggy and the chicken was so tough I couldn't eat it. My son ordered the Belgium waffle with strawberries. This is an interesting burger bar and we've been here a couple of times. The one stand-out thing on their menu would have to be the wild-game burger. Every day, there is a new meat to enjoy in burger form! The only downside to this burger is that some meats shouldn't actually be put into burger form as they require more time to slowly cook and develop their subtle flavors. Regardless, it is an experience to be had. Their fries are also very good. On the downside, this place can get pretty expensive. Suggestions: Definitely go for the wild game burger and add some duck bacon. You'll have a contrast of a gamey meat with something less gamey. Next, get a milk shake. They are all very good so you can't go wrong! However, do so expecting to pay a lot of money for a burger and a milkshake. read more

You know the kind of place that you eat at, and you're immediately craving their food the next day? This is that. After eating at Blu Wolf, I fell in love. I will admit, my first impression left me unsure - it seemed like an overpriced($15-$17 for a burger), fancied up diner. The specialty cocktails are a little pricey, but sure are delicious. Some of the non-specialty drinks are better priced. First off, I came here to have apps and drinks, but after looking at the menu I needed to get dinner. We started with their wings. Sweet and sour sauce was good, but even better was our waitresses suggestion; mild sauce mixed with the garlic Parmesan. WOW! The wings were crispy and saucy, seemingly a hard mix to get right. Now for dinner I wanted to try so many things. The pastas looked amazing but I ended up going for a burger. I got the ghost pepper burger, because I always end up going for the spiciest thing on the menu when I can't decide. I replaced my meat sauce with caramelized onions, because I'm obsessed with caramelized onions. The burger was cooked perfectly. It was huge and I was so full but I still finished it. My sweet potato fries? Perfect. My friends regular fries? Honestly some of the best fries I've had. They also have great service and being on the corner of Park Ave, it's a great location for tons of outdoor seating! Be prepared to spend a little more on a burger than you want to spend, but you will love every second of it. (I'll also cut them slack on the prices because of their location) read more

Love the craft beer list. The service was great and attentive, the patio is large and perfect for a summer evening. Good happy hour specials. The Irish nachos were bloody ugly. Delicious food starts with the eyes and nose. Despite the look, the meat was spiced nicely. Shut your eyes and take a bite. Delicious! The chicken enchilada soup was average in flavor, hearty with fixins, but not boastworthy. I wouldn't recommend the soup but based on the nachos, I'd be back to try other things. Update: I've returned twice since my first review. The service is terrible both times. The food isn't remarkable, and came out cold tonight. It looks like they only had one server working tonight and it took a long time to get anyone's attention. It isn't worth the time or money to come in here with the other options available here. read more

If you're looking for a great burger, Blu Wolf is the place to go! Their fries and onion rings are also amazing. I ordered the Pork rodeo burger ($15), which comes with pulled pork on a hamburger, with onion rings, bacon, lettuce and tomatoes, pepper jack, bbq sauce, all in between a cheddar bun. The waitress told me that they had run out of pulled pork, but they luckily had pork belly so they put that with no extra charge at all. And it was incredible. The cheddar bun is definitely the way to go, and even better that this burger came with it (it costs extra to go from normal bun to their special buns). The pork belly was juicy and soooo tasty! The burger itself, I wish wasn't as cooked as it was. It was more medium than the medium rare I ordered which is why they have one less star. So my burger was great, and then my friend decided to do their burger challenge! It comes with 4 8oz burger patties, a macdaddy patty (patty of fried mac n cheese), meat sauce, a pound of fries, and a milkshake, and all the lettuce and tomatoes of course. If you don't finish it, you have to pay $35, which isn't bad considering my one 8 oz burger cost $15. My friend had 40 min to complete it and no throwing up after. Unfortunately he didn't make it folks :(. So naturally I finished it for him (he had finished 3 of the burger patties, a few fries, the lettuce and tomatoes, and the milkshake - not that impressive right haha). The macdaddy patty is DRY, which is so disappointing since I was really between my pork rodeo and their macdaddy burger but clearly I made a good choice. My friend told me that all the burgers were cooked medium well, which definitely is not the best to eat since they're harder to chew. The staff should definitely ask how the challenger wants their meat right? Anyways, the staff was super nice and encouraging for my buddy challenger. I will be dreaming of that pork rodeo burger until the next time I make it there! read more
