Beautiful views of the PVD from this rooftop bar. We visited Blu Violet last night for the second time and it was so enjoyable and relaxing. On a summer weekend, it gets very busy up there, but on a fall weeknight, we had the outdoor area all to ourselves. We just did drinks, so I can't comment on the food, but the atmosphere and view alone are worth the visit. Blu Violet has both an indoor and outdoor seating area, making it suitable for all seasons. The bar is located indoors and there are a variety of tables indoors. Last night we saw couples dining, as well as hotel guests working on computers. The outside patio is lovely, with tables & chairs, and also comfortable couches. The view looks out to the East, and is very lovely. For drinks, Blu Violet has a cocktail menu, with most of the drinks in the $17 range. They also have a few beers on tap, bottled/canned beers, and I tried the most delicious cider I've ever had: Pumpkin Jack, Made by McKenzie's in upstate NY. We have wanted to check out Blu Violet for a while and finally made it into Providence with a bit of extra time. We loved their drinks, appetizers and service, as well as the great views from the rooftop patio. My wife loved the Watermelon + Feta salad and we were so happy that it is gluten-free. The Truffle Fries were great and definitely a shareable portion. I loved the Ol' Man Earl Cocktail. Service was great. Our server, Brian, has been attentive and accommodating. I took my husband for a date night here and we were both very happy with the ambiance, views, service and food. As you arrive into the aLoft hotel, you take the elevator to the 7th floor and will open up at Blu Violet. There is a terrace (first come, first served) and an indoor dining area with large big windows overlooking the skyline of Providence. Our server was really sweet and nice. She was prompt but also very patience based on our pace and need for time to order. We got some beers, a flatbread pizza and the burger. All food was delicious. The burger was cooked perfectly medium and the fries were crispy and lightly salted, The blueberry BBQ pizza had lots of vegetables on it, not that much chicken, but it was still very good...we got the sauce on the side, Overall a great place to catch views of the city, the Pedestrian Bridge, the river and the East Side. read more

A couple of friends and I went to another restaurant nearby for brunch, and were so disappointed by the menu that we left without ordering and decided to look for somewhere else to go. I remembered that I previously had a good experience at Blu Violet Rooftop, and suggested that we go there. It was 100% the best decision. Situated at the top of the Aloft hotel in Providence, this location is great for dates, Sunday brunch, or family dining...and there was even a low-key baby shower happening while we were there! The service here is absolutely top-notch. The staff is attentive, friendly, and truly goes the extra mile to ensure you have a great time. As for the food, I couldn't have been more satisfied. I ordered the steak and eggs, and they were cooked and seasoned to perfection. My friends chose the breakfast bowl and blueberry pancakes, and they were equally impressed as first timers here. The Hit Me Off cocktail and espresso martinis with Baileys paired nicely with our brunch food. What sets Blu Violet Rooftop apart is the fantastic ambiance. The R&B/Afrobeats music added a unique and lively touch to our dining experience. It's not just a meal; it's an atmosphere that makes you want to stay and savor every moment. The view, although it does look out onto the city gives you the feeling like you're having an elevated dining experience (No pun intended). If you're in Providence, RI, and looking for a dining spot that combines excellent service, delicious food, and a great vibe, Blu Violet Rooftop should be at the top of your list. Blu Violet is a trendy and refreshing new rooftop restaurant and lounge located in the Aloft Hotel. This restaurant has amazing views, and a really great vibe overall. The business is spacious, clean, and the staff are incredibly friendly. Special shout out to Danny, Amanda, Steven, and the nice woman at the front (sorry didn't catch her name), for welcoming us and making sure our first time dining was memorable. We sat outside and enjoyed several drinks with friends, overlooking the city of Providence. It truly was an experience. Danny was our waiter and he was super friendly, attentive, and checked in on us regularly. The menu and cocktails are creative and elegant. The food is delicious and the drinks are amazing. If you haven't been here, then you're missing out. I'd have to say that this is my favorite place in Providence for food and drink. Every time I come here, the staff is always vibrant and energetic. The food, with the new menu, is off the charts. I'm in love with their take on bar food, including their eggplant chips and smoked pork belly. i can't wait to come back in the summer time. the views are lovely of our little skyline and bridge and river. the seating is cozy indoors and you can access the terrace for photos even in winter. the servers were very hospitable. we booked the entire place for a work function and had a great time. the food was actually so good. i forgot to take pictures of the crab deviled eggs, bruschetta, and grilled shrimp with tzatziki because i inhaled it all. i took a picture of (non-alc) lemon mint tea, salmon with olive tapenade, white bean puree and brussel sprouts. and of the berry cheesecake. the salmon dish was wiped clean! i'm not the biggest cheesecake person but i appreciated it. read more

Pleasantly surprised with this establishment. Really cool vibe and absolutely obsessed with the music. DJ was awesome. Went there for brunch on a Sunday and the service was good but it took a while. It's a small place and we were right near the speaker so it was hard to hold a conversation, as much as I was enjoying the music. Brunch menu is small and prices were reasonable. They offered valet parking that was not free, but there was plenty of street parking on a Sunday. I would definitely go back. read more

Location: hard to find. I know this is a rooftop restaurant/bar on Dorrance street based on the website. And while the GPS brought us to the hotel, that's it. There was no signage in or around the building for "Blue Violet". For not a employee noticing we looked lost and directing us to the 7th floor we never would've known how to get there. Ambience: pretty nice, has a couple dozen tables. Some 2 and 4 top tables and a small patio section. There was a DJ as well. Service: a few too many servers for the amount of tables in my opinion. The bartender was our server and she provided good service. Menu/Food: the menu is small (see it online) but looked good. The menu is via a QR code, which in 2023 I'm pretty tired of to be honest. I don't want to ask for a paper menu they should just be the norm. The stuff French toast was good. The chicken and waffles were good separate but together the feel short of the mark. They were very savory. The food appears to be all fresh and made from scratch so that's a plus! They have a nice cappuccino machine. And free hot coffee. read more

New rooftop bar on top of the Aloft Downtown Hotel in Providence. Came here on a Saturday night and it was pretty busy though we were able to get tables. Got the spicy margarita which was balanced, flavorful & def had a spice kick to it. Also got the Caesar salad which was Aok and the gochujang ribs which were very good. The meat was tender & fell off the bones & the gochujang sauce paired well. I also got the burger which was a decent size & honestly too much food at this point but it tasted good. Only in Providence can you go to a rooftop bar and get a Long Island iced tea for $10. I'm not a huge rooftop bar person but for a special occasion I thought it would be fun to try somewhere new. Reservations are recommended although it wasn't super busy on a cold-ish spring Friday--I think people are still catching on to the existence of this bar. There's also another hotel bar downstairs but it was completely dead and seemed to be filled mostly with hotel guests and older clientele. None of the food options really appealed to me--I think there were maybe only 1 or 2 vegetarian options--so we just stuck with drinks. I had a lavender gin cocktail and some Long Island iced teas. Both were pretty good. I feel like the service could use some work. They were kind of weird about seating us inside vs. outside, and said if we wanted to sit outside then they couldn't let us move back inside. I guess they're probably sick of people asking to be seated outside and then getting cold and wanting to come inside, but you don't have to be rude about it. I tried to come back a second time and they said they couldn't accommodate our party, which was kind of annoying since they were only about half full. The views really are nice; it's the quintessential Providence skyline. I will never go back to Rooftop at the Providence G so this is a decent alternative for a relatively affordable rooftop bar in Providence. But I don't think I'll be rushing back when there are other places that have great drinks, great service, and amazing food options. read more

For Providence Restaurant Weeks, they had listed a very appealing menu. The night started out great with a very delicious Roasted Beets and Persimmons plate. It went all downhill from there, as the second course, the Duck Confit, was overcooked. The third course, the Warm Pound Cake, was also overcooked on the bottom. And then to top it all off, they voluntarily added the tip to the check, so I had NO SAY in how much I could tip, although the service was good. I stopped by here for a random lunch in the city, I've been meaning to come since I read about their opening a few months ago. Being 1 of 3 rooftop restaurants/bars, this is easily going to become a Providence staple. Nice atmosphere, good music, great service & excellent food. During the day was cool but I bet the night time vibe here is immaculate. I started the day with the Burrata appetizer and grabbed a 10oz steak. As pictured the Burrata was fresh and fantastic.. the steak was even surprisingly good and I say that because I'm generally reluctant to get steaks at non-steak houses. Overall great experience, certainly will come back & I can't recommend this enough as a day or night spot (night has to go crazy). Made a saturday night dinner reservation with my girls before a night out in Providence. Server was wonderful - Brian with an I. He was simply lovely! Cocktails were good but food was meh at best. Yucca fries were reheated and hard. Wings and ribs were dry. Surprisingly the salad was the best out of all of our meals. It was also super bright and had more of a "family" atmosphere than I expected for a rooftop bar on Saturday. I would try again for a brunch to see if I'd rate higher than 3 stars. This was very lack luster . It most certainly is a hotel restaurant . The lobby was cooler than the actual bar itself , all though it was all super clean and i loved that. The drinks took a while to get to us (not a server error ) the bartenders just seemed to truly take their time and to be quite honest it was just ok . I've been to craft cocktail lounges and have waited but was knocked out by the flavors . These cocktails were very much like juice . The lights were WAY to bright , there was no ambiance . The restaurant itself was beautiful, because it is a rooftop with a 180 degree view of downtown. I made a reservation for 3 people. I then called to adjust the reservation to 4, which I was told they could not accommodate because they were at capacity. But when I went there, they sat us at the window, making conversation awkward between us, while there were over 5 tables totally empty. They remained empty during our 2 hour brunch. There was also an empty seat between us and the couple who sat there. Strange. There seemed to be no hustle with the staff to turnover and move it along. It seems like who you ver runs this place wants to make it seem busy and booked, but it's not at all. So the staff won't accommodate paying customers to keep seats, what, empty? Instead of giving your business more money??? The food was good, but not great. Not worth the fee. My girlfriend had dietary restrictions and asked for home fries, an avocado and eggs scrambled. The waiter told us the chef is not adjusting any meals on the menu and cannot add home-fries to the order... even though the kitchen has the ingredient clearly because it was on the menu. ...??? There was a DJ there spinning inside while we ate. It was so loud I have a sore throat from talking to my friends. I was expecting more with rooftops being so rare in Providence. But they are seemingly trying to be exclusive and sought after to create rarity but they're not hitting it. Really underwhelming. I found it to be a Cute and chic hotel rooftop bar restaurant with nice views for IG pics. Very limited cocktail options and staff seem thrown off a bit when you order any other kind of drink that's not on the menu. If it's a full bar they should be able to make anything lol. The sirloin was not the best quality and it had alot of fatty areas considering it was that type of cut of meat. I've had better steaks at longhorn or Outback. The Brussels and mash were good tho. The chicken sandwich was good too but the fries were sorta soggy in some spots. Food did take a while despite hardly any people inside. You're probably better off coming here for a girls brunch day. I wouldn't come for a birthday dinner or anything. Oh and there were only 4 entrees to choose from. Not 5 like I had previously seen on an online menu.
