I've been seeing this place on tiktok a lot recently so I decided to try it out since I was running errands nearby. I was highly disappointed by their strawberry matcha latte. I would rate this higher if it was advertised as strawberry milk because that was all I tasted. I did enjoy the dehydration strawberries and the puree... but where exactly was the matcha? Ive been wanting to try this place for sooo long and it did not disappoint! A South Korean cafe vibe with delish quality coffee and matcha! Service was so sweet eat and friendly and fast! Located in South San Jose we went to try this spot for the first time. They have a cute photo booth in the main area where it prints out a photo sticker where you can post on their walls. Cute cafe in South San Jose that does a variety of trendy and classic coffee and matcha beverages! My boyfriend got the Block Latte (an iced latte that's iced with coffee) and I got the banana matcha, which totaled to $18. $20 for 2 drinks is quite steep, in my opinion. The cream top was very thick and came with a slice of freeze dried banana and some biscoff crumbs that added a delicious crunchy texture to the drink that wasn't offputting at all. The banana flavor is very infused and pairs well with the matcha here. The Block Latte was strong, even before the iced block of coffee melted! It came in an adorable My Melody shape. Very tasty and a nice jolt of caffeine for the day. Seating in the back is tucked away and limited but surprisingly full on weekends! Lots of young students here chatting and getting work done. My friend and I drove about 40 minutes to try Block, and it definitely did not disappoint. We got the Earl Grey Matcha and the Matcha Einspanner, and both were really good. I don't usually see a lot of places that offer Earl Grey Matcha, so I had to try it, and it ended up being one of the best I've had. The flavors were really well balanced, with the matcha and Earl Grey blending together smoothly without overpowering each other. Caught up with a friend for a few hours at this cute, local coffee shop! It has a good amount of parking. We came on a weekday afternoon. Final Thoughts: 4.30/5.00 New matcha and coffee spot within the Blossom Hill area. This place is definitely farther away from the typical places where I get matcha, but I'm not complaining. Some places are simply way too saturated with these cafes. My friend's and I wanted to try their drinks and review. Overall, their matcha drinks specifically are good and would definitely come back if I were in the area. Drinks: Banana Matcha: 4.0/5 There's something about a banana matcha latte that I'm always drawn to versus a regular matcha latte. Overall, I did really like their drink. Starting with the base. The matcha flavor is present, the milk and drink is smooth and creamy. The sweetness level is a little too sweet for me, but that was an easy fix when the ice melted. Consistency wise was good with the base and the banana cream. The cream is a very luscious texture. Quite thick and has a good mouthfeel. It didn't feel heavy or oily and had a nice balance of milks, creams, and flavor. For the flavor of the cream, I do feel like the flavor was almost too artificial for me. I prefer the fresh banana cream flavor, which can be a little more tedious to make with the fresh fruit. The flavor is very comparable to the banana puff that is placed on top. I'm not too fond of this puff because of the artificial flavor, but it actually worked alright in this drink given that the flavors were almost identical. Definitely does not compare to the fresh banana flavor, but it is passable and I can't say I'm too disappointed with this drink. Just the single one gave it some texture and aesthetic on the top. This drink is then nicely garnished with Biscoff crumbles, which is just a chefs kiss on top. Double Matcha Cream Latte: xx This was my friend's drink. I didn't try it today, but visually, this drink does not seem to disappoint. Of note, he did mention that this place does deliver on quality and taste overall. --------- Quality: Optimal Matcha Quality Their matcha is quite good. The color of my drink was optimal and I actually really liked the taste of the matcha flavor. While I would prefer an even stronger dose of it in my drink, this one honestly didn't disappoint me. Price: Fair For the price of one drink, it was around $8 to $9. Matcha drinks appear more on the expensive side. This is unfortunately the price of a usual drink now, which is wild to me. I'll be it though so as long as the drink tastes good. The ranges for their prices for coffee drinks are within the range of about $5 to $9 depending on what you get though, so a little more inexpensive. Service: Quick They were fairly quick with getting our order and then making it and calling our name for it. Something interesting is that they have lids and additional sweeteners on the side. My drink wasn't covered initially, but my friends was. Mine did have a banana chip puff on top and perhaps the idea was to eat that before it gets soggy or take a picture of it while it looks cute. Location/Parking: Secluded and Small Lot This spot is located within the Blossom Hill area. Location seems a little bit secluded, but a little advertisement can go a long way. Finally got to try this new trendy Korean cafe that opened up in south San Jose! It's tucked in a small plaza across from Costco and Whole Foods. It's a tight parking spot but there are other parking lots that are walking accessible. It's a small cafe with seating in the back for hanging out with a friend, but I wouldn't recommend it for working or studying since it can be cramped. They have a cute Photo Booth at the corner of the entrance, so you can aesthetic pics there or with their hallway mirror. They have all gender restroom as well. Our order was pretty quick of about 5-7 minutes for two drinks. Though the price of $16 for two drinks was a bit steep, considering the size of the drinks. It was a small size and didn't have any other larger sizes. I ordered the einspanner latte, and it was underwhelming... It was very watered down with ice taking up 2/3rds of the drink. Ultimately, the matcha has good flavor. Though, you can see some of the powder on the bottom if you look at the bottom of the cup, but it's hardly much and it's not clumpy. It honestly has a good flavor for me to not mind that at all. I was very happy with it. However, I'm rating lower for the price. My card gets charged $9.29 for a drink that's supposedly $8.50. I know credit/debit get charged extra for transactions, but there is no other payment option. Second, the cup is small. I first tried Block when they shared on insta that they increased the cup size (see photo captions to see which one), but it seems the cups are smaller again. The smaller cup is not worth it for me based on the price. There are other locations in the bay where you will pay around the same for a decent size and smoother matcha. Third, there have been a few times where I've tried to come here when they open, but then it's still closed. I think they've been better at opening on time though. I get it, it's a small business and sometimes it's hard to open right around 8/8:10. I'm torn because I like how convenient this location is. I like that they're always nice, and superrrr fast! However, I would only come here if I was in a pinch and really was craving a nice tasting matcha since it's one of the only places nearby that isn't Peets or the Whole Foods coffee bar. I tried the matcha Einspänner and the cream on top was delicious, which made the drink really enjoyable at first. Went here around 4 pm on a Wednesday. It's near closing time so I wasn't expecting it to be busy but it was really chill. You put your order through the cashier and you pick it up in the same counter you ordered at. They have a cute picture receipt Photo Booth! It's unlimited, free, and so cute! We got the pistachio latte with oatmilk, the cream was so delicious, the coffee itself wasn't really sweet so I recommend mixing it a lot more. The block latte was so good. They have espresso ice blocks and that was so cute. You can basically let it melt and it gets stronger as you drink. Overall this is such a cute place to grab a drink and study or just chill :) read more

I saw a lot of buzz about a new coffee shop so I thought I would go out of my way to try this. I really wanted to like this place, but the drinks were not worth driving 40 mins for. The line to order wasn't long, but the drinks took a while to come out. It wasn't clear where the line was because there were so many people that finished ordering and were waiting around inside and in front of the store for their drinks. The decorations and the block sign were cute though. They also have a small seating area in the back! First of all, they ran out of the block coffee. Their name and signature coffee is literally the block coffee! I know we came late in the day, but I would've thought they would prepare more of their signature. They also ran out of the financier that they give out for their opening :( We ordered the pistachio cream latte and the double matcha cream latte. The pistachio cream was weak and tasted almost artificial. After mixing it, the coffee lost any sweetness or pistachio flavor. The double matcha was good! Very strong matcha flavor, very creamy from the matcha cream, but the drink wasn't mixed well so you would get bits of matcha powder in your drink that sunk to the bottom. Also, like some reviews said, the cups were already small and the matcha wasn't even filled all the way! These were like $20! All in all, pretty disappointed and don't know if I'll be back. read more
