Comfort food in a casual setting, but with a wait. I was recommended checking out Block16 by a friend while in town. There was already a wait by the time I got here at 5:30pm, and the line steadily grew with the dinner rush. The interior can't quite decide what it wants to be, with some decorations. At least there's a good amount of seating, including a large communal table inside that has plenty of seats. Staff were friendly. I got a Block Burger. Very standard looking burger with all the components to a typical burger, but the meat was great! Tasty, cooked medium, and had both a slight crisp with juicy interior. Would recommend for a casual bite, though there is a wait.

Block 16 was one of my favorite farm-to-table stops in Omaha, and you can definitely see why it's so popular. It's a casual spot with a handful of tables inside, a small patio, and a large communal table where everyone can grab a seat. We had to try their legendary poutine fries. It was my future SIL's first time having poutine, and she loved them! We also split the Block 16 Burger, and you could genuinely taste how fresh everything was, from the meat to the tomatoes and pickles. Absolutely worth adding to your Omaha food list!

Truly a gem, which explains why it's so popular amongst the locals. It's located in downtown Omaha, and attracted lots of visitors on the weekend that my partner and I were in town. Most of the highlight was the various types of burgers and fries they had, so my partner and I got two kinds, and we both enjoyed our respective meals. I had the block burger, which was as good as I imagined it to be, with juicy patty cooked to medium and every ingredient needed to make a good burger. The poutine had a lot of beef gravy and cheese curds, which made the dish a comprehensive experience to consume, rather than just fries. The duck duck goose fries were amazing! The duck confit, cheese curds, mayo, gravy, and gooseberry gastrique combination worked super well on top of the fries, because they altogether basically made it a gourmet dish that I had to eat with a fork. Finally, the sloppy nick was seasoned very well, even if we got the vegan version, which used impossible meat instead of ground beef. It was still really great! Hope everyone who visits Omaha gets to try this spot! Their wall has quite a few articles that recognized them as a locally renowned burger joint, and I could see why. Since they can be busy, I would recommend people getting there earlier to secure a good table spot, if dining in.

We're from out of town and stopped in here for lunch. The food was amazing and plentiful! The wife had a potato soup special with a grilled cheese. I had the duck duck fries and a piece of fried chicken thigh. The chicken was crispy and juicy, the fries were delicious. The other two with us had a chicken wrap and fries and a crispy chicken sandwich. Would definitely go back! Service was quick and friendly with a quick pace atmosphere. Only thing right now is parking might be a bit of a problem as there is a lot of construction right now in that area.

Stopped by Block 16 for lunch while visiting downtown Omaha. Restaurant had a casual, cozy, and rustic feel and was 60% occupancy late in the lunch timeframe. Staff were welcoming and attentive. I had the Sailor Dip ($16.95) and poutine fries ($7.95). The dip was served super hot and fresh. Very good sandwich and incredibly filling. But I had regret for not trying other more unique menu items. The poutine fries were also good but not served at the same lava hot temperature which would have made them better. Nonetheless, excellent lunch spot while in downtown Omaha!

Honestly this was a let down. Been wanting to try it for weeks and it just missed the mark. Waited for 30+ minutes when it wasn't busy for two sandwiches and fries. I got the sailor dip with au ju and it was honestly just flavorless. My girlfriend got the block burger and said it was fine. The best thing we got were the Rangoon fries. Probably won't be back but The service was friendly so that was nice.

Block 16 is always at the top of my recommendations for people coming into town. Their food is consistently amazing and their specials keep things interesting. Their poutine burrito can be a little heavy, but you'll want to eat all of it. Their loaded fries can be a meal on their own if you're committed to it - their duck duck goose fries might be my favorite so far. If you're going to eat in, know it can get a little busy but it's definitely worth it. If you're more in a pinch for time, ordering ahead is a great option. It's such a fun spot to start your night - have a little drink with some amazing food!

Having just got to town and hungry for lunch I walked a few blocks to Block 16. I came because I read amazing reviews about them and saw they won numerous awards. I also checked out their menu and noticed it was definitely a unique, interesting menu. Upon walking in, there was a line backed up to the door and I waited in it about 15 mins and it didn't move one person, but I used this time to check out the menu and decide what I wanted. After noticing the line not moving and the cashier in heavy discussion with the family that was there placing their order, I felt it might be best to use their online ordering for carryout pickup instead. While doing this, the line moved up once and I suppose that next party had questions too and of course, plenty of time was spent answering those questions. This might seem like good service, but when the line is that long, either have more people there taking orders or use a kiosk for those of us who don't need to ask questions, or remind guests that there are many others in line (probably after the first 5 mins of discussing the menu) and the line needs to move up. After I placed my order, it told me it was accepted and gave me a time range of when to expect my order. I sat down and waited until the end of that range, which was only a few mins, and then went back up to the pick up area to ask about my order. The lady working was very friendly when I explained what I did. She gave me a number and told me she'd bring my order out, she also gave me the drink I pre-ordered. A few mins later, she brought my food out. I looked around to notice that people who were waiting for food prior to me still hadn't gotten their food. I'm not sure if it's always this slow in there or if it was busy because there's a conference in town. Opening the clamshell that my food was in - I noticed a beautiful sandwich and fries. The fries were piping hot and crispy and tasted great. The sandwich looked really nice, but when I went to pick it up, I noticed the entire bottom was soaked in grease and their hot sauce that was on the chicken. So, I fork & knifed this meal. The flavors of all the parts of the sandwich together were nice, just wish I could have picked it up without being a mess. If I ever returned, I'd get something different.

The service and food were good! The sandwich was super tender and flavorful, but definitely could use some acidity to balance the flavors, cuz they all kinda nuddled together. But adding pickle, tomato, or pickled radish or somethingut wouldve been perfect. Just was missing that little extra something, but definitely coming back to try their regular menu items!

Chef Driven, Farm to Fork Lunch ( till 8pm some days ) joint. The hand helds are unique and crafted to order. Daily specials will usually sell out, so if you're wanting it, don't wait! The staff at the front are helpful and take your order and give you a number. Food arrives in about 20 minutes. It's swift food, not fast food. The tables are 1/2 family style and half regular. Beverage options include fountain soda, and canned ( both beer and NA ). They have a lot of fry upgrade options.

Dragon Wrap , Crab Rangoon Fries, Croque Garcon Burger Combo

In a word, fantastic. In many words : Block 16 is a must visit in Omaha for American style food. Their ingredient quality, and mixtures of flavors are unmatched. Their focus on ingredients is clear in the freshness of your meal! No fear, anything you select to eat will have that special touch added to it. As a vegetarian, American style places just mean a lot of beyond burger swap outs. NOT HERE. I got a dragon wrap with sietan and it was FANTASTIC. the texture of the sietan was pull apart soft, the seasoning was a mixture that was reminiscent of gyro flavors in my opinion. The arugula and chickpeas brought brightness, and the dragon sauce kept everything dense and hearty. It's quite large as well, I found it bigger than the burger ! My brother got a burger with a sunny side up egg and ham on it. He is somewhat of a burger connoisseur as it's his favorite thing to explore. After the first bite he couldn't stop saying how impressed he was! The toppings and the quality of the burger patty itself was top tier. We shared some crab Rangoon style fries ... LAWD. They were so loaded that every bite had more than sufficient cream cheese, onions, and fried crispies. The environment threw me off initially. They've selected to put more money into their food in my opinion haha. You go to the counter to open, there is no table service. It results in a quick experience from ordering to eating!

Their wing off was amazing! I loved the way this event ran. It was nice to walk in when I had time and then I could take it home to eat without embarrassing myself in public . The wing flavors were awesome! My favorite was the Peruvian puff pepper but they were all fun. 10/10 would do this again!

Ask the Community - Block 16

Do they have TVs?

No they don't have TVs. Small place with some larger shared tables and 2 person tables.

Does block 16 take reservations?

They do not.

Are you able to call in and place an order? I've been calling and I know they are extremely busy but it seems that someone hung up the phone? I saw a lane for pickup orders once when I went in person. So I am just double checking.

What is the best vegan dish?

We actually have several vegan options. Vegan sloppy nick, vegan tardiness, vegan poutine burrito to name a few. We make sextant in house

Do they have a kids menu?

Unfortunately no, but there is always a more simple menu item that would be suitable. It's a great chance for little ones to expand their palate and try something new! My mini me is a fan.

Amazing Omaha Gem: Memoir is a Must-Visit!…read more This was my second visit to Memoir, and I'm simply blown away. This spot is a 10/10--glorious, delicious, and an absolute vibe. The food is incredible, the space is stylish, and the service is top-notch. I brought my mother, partner, and our 8-month-old, and we all had the best time. Appetizer Highlights (Run, Don't Walk!): We started with three appetizers, and all were phenomenal: Potato Pouffs: Seriously one of my favorite appetizers ever. They are creamy and potatoey inside, served with an incredible aioli. Whipped Ricotta: Served atop the lightest, most flavorful focaccia I've ever tasted. Brussels Sprouts: They absolutely rule. Entrees & Drinks: I enjoyed the Herbal Tree drink (light, refreshing, and comes with unlimited refills--bonus!). For the main course, I had the Salmon over Sweet Corn Risotto. It tasted exactly like summer, even on a chilly fall day; I'd 100% get this again. My mother, who had never ordered steak and eggs before, took a gamble on their version and was thrilled. It's possibly the most affordable and elevated version I've seen, featuring a beautifully cooked steak with chimichurri and a super elevated potato cake (the hashbrown). Verdict: We are so lucky to have Memoir in Omaha. Go make memories ASAP!
