This is one of my favorite places to eat in Omaha. I live in NorCal but go to Nebraska often to visit my best friend. Being that, I have access to extremely diverse and flavorful food in the Bay Area, my expectations are really high and this restaurant delivers. I love the duck duck goose fries! They're flavorful and delicious, definitely worth the calories. I've also tried the crab rangoon fries, they're tasty as well but too rich for me to eat on my own so it's definitely better for sharing imo. The B16 Deluxe sandwich is super meaty, like it's hard to bite into, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it's certainly too much food if you pair it with the loaded fries and the meat could be more flavorful. One thing I don't like is ordering at the counter, I'd rather have table service but it's a personal preference. I ordered to go over the phone. They said 10-15 minutes which sounded great because I know how busy they can be. I get there and they only have one line for new orders and to go orders so I waited in a relatively short line for about 5 minutes. By this time it had been about 15-20 minutes and my order wasn't quite ready but after just a minute it was ready. I'm glad I arrived when I did otherwise it could've been a much longer wait. Everything is very fresh and made to order. Make sure you give yourself time to enjoy the place since it gets really busy and you may have to spent some time waiting in line to place your order. Service is friendly and food is great. Went there with some co-workers and we all loved what we had ordered. I personally don't care for the fancy French fry dishes and believe their seasoned fries that comes when you order a combo meal is more than enough. What a cool place! I love all the interesting menu items. The service is pretty fast for such a small operation. Inside you walk up to a counter to order. The menu is written on a chalkboard hanging on the wall. There's also an overflow area for with more seating. I've only ever been here for lunch but it can get pretty busy. I got the Gouda grilled cheese with cayenne raspberry jelly and oh my goodness it was so good. I got it with sweet potato fries which were also excellent. I can say not one critical word about this place. It was amazing. I've been following their Facebook page for over a year now and never managed to get the oomph to actually go (I *hate* going to Omaha) so since I was already in town today I figured I'd try to get some. Oh my god. Dude. I could just cry! This was one of the most incredible meals I've ever eaten, and that's a really high bar, I promise you! We got two different sandwiches and two different loaded fries so we could split them and try a lot of stuff and it was all so good I almost wanna go back again tomorrow to try more of the menu. ABSOLUTELY bring some hand wipes along, these things are loaded and messy, but oh it's so worth it. Guess I gotta buckle down and submit myself to Omaha roads/Omaha traffic more often from now on, now that I know how great this place is. And, not for nothin, it was super fast, very safe/distanced/sanitized, very sweet staff, and the portions were HUGE. Finally had a chance to stop in here for lunch. On a tip I got here just before 11 when they open cause they get very busy. Sure enough a couple minutes till 11 there was already a line. We got in, ordered at the counter and sat and waited to be called when the order was ready. I tried the block burger and was very happy with my choice. The sauce on there really hit the spot and the meat was cooked perfectly. I ordered the dragon fries and they were quite tasty though they were a little much. The melted burned up cheese thing on top was hard to eat. I had to with some difficulty saw thru it with my plastic knife. The sauce was good but they could have easily used half the sauce, I was a little sauced out by the end. Overall they do good quality stuff here and I'll be back. Met a good friend at this old market hot. Name kinda gives it away (16th and Harney) Line was weaved through the place on a Thursday afternoon for lunch but it moved quickly and the energy coming from the many patrons, workers, and music passed the time quite well. Menu was well written in chalk and descriptions plentiful. I did not partake but a smal menu of local craft beers stood against the wall. I chose the Putin burrito and some dragon fries. My co eater got a burger and duck fries. First all the food was amazing. Very filling and full of flavor. To my taste the fries toppings a little to rich but hey that's how duck is! And I'm not going to complain about leaving with a full belly and happy taste buds. May be just share the fries with a friend instead of getting your own. My wife was equally excited as one of the chefs from a cooking show really liked the place as well. When we arrived, the line was just out the door - I'd say about a dozen or so people in front of me. I stayed in line while my wife grabbed a table. It took 30 minutes to get to the counter to place an order. This seemed to be very slow for the number of people in front of me. However, based on the crowds and the reviews, I took it as a really good sign for what was to come. The menu offers some tantalizing choices and is a good size to ensure quality. They also have a nice selection of local beers and nice, yet affordable, wine. My wife and I both decided to go with the Croque Garcon - a 1/3 lb. burger with cheese, ham, farm egg and truffle mayo on a ciabatta bun. It took another 20 minutes for the burgers to arrive. The place was bustling and it was fun to people watch during the wait. At last the burgers arrived. They looked great! That was the peak of the meal. I have to say, I do not understand all the hype. The burger was just OK. It was perfectly cooked and it tasted pretty good, but it didn't wow me like all the reviews stated. The cashier and wait staff are friendly, but understandably a bit rushed given the crowd. While it is definitely an experience, I'm not sure this is even worth another try when we're back in town. Block 16 has been a favorite of ours for about a year. Menu favorites are: the poutine burrito, sloppy Nick, crab Rangoon fries & the chicken thighs (seriously get a couple!). They are usually busy (read: packed), but service is fast & the food is always piping hot. We just picked up take out & they are offering their full menu plus specials during this COVID/quarantine period, including family style meals for an affordable price. Check FB for those details! This place is pretty decent! We waited about 20 minutes for our order as the place was packed, but it is worth the wait. I ordered the chicken dragon wrap. It is a midwest version of a gyro, with grilled chicken. I don't know what so they used to flavour the chicken or the sauce, but it was good, and it hit the spot. I think it helped that the chicken was also very tender. It came with fries and side of dragon sauce (not of the filthy minded variety!) I saw some pretty meaty sandwiches that I will have to try next time! They didn't have Root Beer or Sprite, so I settled with a coke. Paid the classic burger joint a visit tonight because our roommate has never tried this place before in the 5 years she's been living here and we couldn't let that continue any further! We also came to celebrate our other roommate's late birthday. Regardless, one doth not need a special occasion to visit Block 16. Just bring your appetite and a lot of patience if you plan on coming around and after 6pm any night of the week, as the throng of anxious customers start to quickly queue. Block burger: they've managed to master the art of simplicity with this plain Jane cheeseburger, with the star of the burger being the perfectly cooked medium rare beef patty. So tender and juicy it's sure to make any mouth water. Pulled pork roll with a side of sweet potato fries: this is what my roommate who's never tried Block "magnificent" 16 before. She really enjoyed it, but loved the sweet potato fries the best. I sampled some of those babies and I'd have to agree. Though modest and minimalistic in style, it still maintained crisp and crunch that made it enjoyable to eat. Dragon fries: my favorite specialty fries on their menu! There was a thick slice of mozzarella cheese on top that I could not finish. Wish it stayed stringy/melted instead of cooling down to a thick blanket covering my fries. Duck duck goose fries: everyone else's favorite specialty fries. I'm not a big fan of duck and only tried it once but I gave it another go tonight and I change my mind. This is an exception to my anti-duck phase. Croque garçon burger: the birthday girl devoured her burly burger and was able to do it in a pretty graceful way, without having egg yolk drip all over the place. I do really like the bread they serve the burger on. Sandwiching everything in a ciabatta roll certainly ups the fancy level. This place serves quality food for an affordable price with everything being less than $10, yes please! As expected for a small and very popular joint like this, it was no surprise to see the line grow and reach the entrance 10 minutes before 6 on a Friday night. Be prepared to stand in line when you come though, showed up 5 minutes before they opened on a Saturday and a line had already formed.
