Blk Swan. Where do I begin? At the start of the new year I decided to make a reservation for my husband and I to dine at Blk Swan to celebrate my 38th birthday. I made the reservation on January 6th 2022 and truly looked forward to the day that I too could take an IG worthy photo in front of the now locally infamous Blk Swan sign. Little did I know that there would be no pictures taken on that night.
My birthday was Sunday February 27th. My husband and I booked a hotel room at the canopy maybe 1000 ft away from Blk Swan. We called an uber to drive us up the street because (you know, birthday heels). The uber was running late so my husband called Blk Swan to let them know. There was no answer at the restaurant so we were a bit worried. Not to fret though, I recieved a text from Blk Swan at 7:11pm with the following message: "Your table is ready. Please check in now at BLK Swan. Text 1 if you're on your way." I took a deep sigh of relief and replied "1" to which I received the following response from Blk Swan at 7:14pm "Great! We'll see you shortly."
So the uber finally arrives we take the 1 min car ride and arrive at around 7:25. We were greeted by two very polite door men (kudos to them) and made our way to the host desk. Upon our arrival, I tell the host (brown skinned woman with pretty locs) my name and she is unable to find my reservation. She looks at her counterpart (a slender white woman with wavy brown hair) and says "see I told you to give them some time, people are trying to make their reservations, they need time to walk here" So at that point its pretty clear my table was given away. Le sigh. The host then asks to look up my reservation using my phone number. It pops up and they try to determine where to sit us. At that point, my husband asks about the phone. He explains he tried to call a few times but it went straight to vioce mail. He asks the host how should we contact the restaurant and she provided him with hours in which there is a designated receptionist which may vary on Sundays. She then asks my husband to call his phone from the restaurant line so he can have the number to Blk Swan. (Yes, that really happened lol)
So a few mins pass and the slender lady takes us to our table. We are seated at a 2 top in between 2 other couples who are seated at a 4 top. At first I'm like it's cool let's just enjoy ourselves. So I ask the brown haired lady if I can order a bottle of wine. She tells me she'll let the waiter know. Our waiter arrives and he is FABULOUS! Manny is a real gem. He put in the order for the bottle of wine and lamb chops. The brown hair lady returns with the bottle. I let her know I didn't have any silverware. She looked at me (in the face yall lol) and asked if I wanted her to stop pouring the wine to go get my silverware. MAAM WHAT? No you can bring it after no problem, duh. So Manny returns and we order the whole menu basically: Lamb Chops, lobster Mac and cheese, crab cakes, Angus sliders, Short Rib and charred broccoli. We don't play games when we go out to eat. Our little 2 top table cannot handle all of this food.
One of the couples next to us finishes their meal and leaves. We ask Manny if we can slide over to the bigger table and he let's us know he will get the manager to clarify. The manager arrives and tell us they are fully booked and can't change table. The host then proceeds to set the table next to us for 4 guests. About 2 mins later, 2 ladies arrive and sit at the table. They were not joined by anyone. The extra table sat right there next to us UN USED. I was flabbergasted. The host then sat another table for 2 at a 4 top with the extra table sitting there unused. At that point I was ready to go. So yes, we packed up all of that food, I mean all of it, with out even eating it and left. Please look at the menu and do the math. We spent sooo much money and the management was horrible. Our table was given away. The mangement team could have easily rectified the situation but blatantly chose not to. Manny apologized profusely and was a true gem but the management was not. 38th birthday dinner sucked. No dessert with a candle, nothing. Unfortunately, I did not get to take an IG worthy photo in front of the locally infamous Blk Swan sign and I never will. read more
