Located in the Spectrum shopping center, Blk Dot Coffee really impressed me with their VT Matcha (Vietnamese Matcha) coffee. I'm usually hesitant to order complex drinks afraid that one flavor would over power the other, but the Matcha tea was evident with the 1st sip. As you stir the 2 components together you taste the Vietnamese coffee, so if you want to savor the Matcha tea, I would recommend that you don't stir. A good quality cup of coffee I wouldn't hesitate to order again. read more

I come here regularly to get a coffee for my wife and I to share. We always have a good time but I recently I have had particularly good experiences. There are a few baristas at this location that take the customer service to the next level. They have patiently answered my questions about nearly every coffee on the menu. There were a few times recently when I wanted to better understand their original Vietnamese blend and compare it to other options on their menu. Of my most recent memory, it was Renee, Talia and her twin sister (so sorry I forgot your name!). These three are really special. They are that ideal blend of product knowledge, barista skill, and customer service warmth. I attend tons of coffee shops and because I am in merchant services, we serve as the payment processor for many coffee shops in the area. I can tell you from professional experience that there are plenty of places with good coffee but they don't leave you with a great experience. Thanks to Renee, Talia and her twin sister, I always have a solid experience at Blk Dot! Thanks again! read more

This is the location at the Irvine Spectrum Center right next to Target. At BLK Dot they do a good job across all location and this is no different. It's a nice little shop with a good vibe but wish they had some seats inside specially since it's air conditioned well on a hot day. There is outside seating though. The Classic Vietnamese Coffee is my go-to drink but i did try their Yuzu Mango Matcha and it was a great combination of flavor and freshness. Great for a hot day! You can't go wrong with most of the drinks here so it's a great place for your caffeine fix. read more

It's a popular spot that seems to be loved by many. It was my first time and I didn't like it as much to be honest. Found the espresso to be quite bold and bitter. I asked the barista to dilute the drink with milk further but it was still barely drinkable. The beans were way over-roasted, tasted as if I am drinking burnt sunflower seeds water. Absolutely amazing presentation with everything though. Staff being courteous, nice is very much appreciated and loved what they have done with the interior. It really did feel like a lot of love was put into creating this coffee shop. Sorry guys though, it's just not my thing. read more

Long overdue review for me personally. Been coming to BLK Dot Coffee for years and loved their selection of coffee. I like my coffee strong and therefore always preferred Vietnamese coffee. The way they make it at BLK is top notch and pleasantly surprising. I've always gotten the VTM both iced and hot. Also tried their matcha selection which keeps to seem like expanding. You can immediately taste how strong the coffee is, so I appreciate the fact it's not watered down like some places. Taste is on point and I always feel a jolt of caffeine afterwards! This location within the Spectrum mall is pretty small and not meant for sitting down besides a few outdoor tables. Highly recommend when you're looking for quality coffee and a lot of caffeine! read more

I enjoyed the tiramisu latte as it was not too sweet but just right. But really, the green tea was fantastic! It was smooth and just right. The service was friendly and the environment was laid back and chill. You can sit outside and the location is nice because there is a cool fountain to look at as well as a small play area outside for kids to climb while you enjoy your drink. The men here took my order plus he took it incorrectly. 20 minutes past and no drink while others where taking their drinks. I asked to to be refunded they took another 10 minutes to find my order the lady here is who helped me I had to show my credit card transaction so they can find it. Came in and ordered a matcha americano (just matcha and water), ordered it here a few weeks ago before with no issue. Was given a regular matcha latte with espresso. When I mentioned the mistake, I was told that they don't make matcha americanos anymore. That's fine, I get that menus change, but I wish they had let me know before taking my money... Their specialty is Vietnamese coffee, so I figure I give it a try. I ordered the VTM Tigers. I like how strong the coffee is, and I can taste the condensed milk, but it is really sweet for me. Maybe because of the brown sugar syrup. Will have to try another drink next time. read more

Their Spanish Latte is THE BEST I've found in Orange County. Other places make it too sweet but at Blk Dot they have managed to find the perfect balance of sweetness and smoothness. The coffee itself tastes great and I like that you can substitute for alternative milks for those of us that are lactose intolerant, but definitely pretty pricey especially if you sub milk. The employees are friendly though and this location has a small outdoor seating area that's dog friendly which is great for socialization and training calm behavior in a well trafficked area. read more

I've also tried their Eggs Benedict which tastes better when you have it for dine-in. I wouldn't recommend ordering any of their breakfast items for take-out. Wait time is reasonable for made-to-order food items. Customer service is always outstanding. Every staff member I've encountered was super sweet, friendly, and patient. The shop is small but there are plenty of tables and chairs to sit at inside. Pricey but it's always a nice treat to come here when we're in the area.

The best item I got from Vanilla Street Bakery. Decently sweet with a lovely balance of nuts, dough layers, and infused syrup. I appreciated that it wasn't dripping in a sugary solution; it's definitely more balanced than other baklava I've had. Chocolate Chip Cookie ($5.20): 2/5. A very pillowy, cakey cookie, yet dry and crumbly. The flaky salt on top was a nice touch, but its overall taste and texture didn't deliver a satisfying chocolate chip cookie. Spinach-feta roll ($6.90): 2/5. Staff kindly warmed this up for me without asking, and it looked nice and savory. However, it was extremely dry, doughy, and bland, with hardly any feta. Too bland to enjoy for $7. Eclair ($7.50): 3/5. Chocolate topping and custard filling were good, but the dough was quite dry. Pricey, too! Staff were patient and knowledgeable. Interior has a quaint, cutesy look to it, with different types of seating available. I saw people catching up with friends, reading, or working, so it has a relaxing atmosphere for whatever you feel like doing. In short: most of the pastries unfortunately were very expensive and not worth the cost based on how dry and/or bland they were. Additionally, the highly anticipated Raf Coffee seemed interesting but ended up being too creamy for a coffee drink.

I see them make drinks, show demonstrations for their pour overs, as well as sit down with patrons to simply share knowledge about their coffee/teas. i thought that was very personable as it shows how much they care about their craft.

Due to there being 3 kids in the party, I didn't get to eat a lot of it, so from what little I was able to eat, it was good and significantly different than Meet Fresh texture and taste wise. However, since more people in my immediate social/tourist circle know the brand of Meet Fresh better, this place doesn't provide the same bragging rights for them. After we were done and stood up, the next customer sat down immediately in the seats we were not finished vacating. We had 3 purses left over and had not finished picking them up before they just jumped in, so you have to be fast to vacate. This experience just made me prefer takeout more, but I think my tourists wanted air conditioning and there was not enough outdoor seating for our party. Maybe next time I can eat a quantity more befitting of a smaller party.
