TIP: Parking is free on the weekend! Yay! Upon reading some Yelp reviews, I was able to immediately locate BLK Coffee. It is right next to Google Irvine. Parking was in the structure located next to the store and requires you to retrieve a ticket. Make sure to get validation on a regular day, but it seems as though it is free on the weekend. The outside is very clean and the environment is nice to sit on the tables/chairs if it is a good day. There are a couple of tables outside and about three tables inside plus some couches and a few seats by a 'bar' looking outside. Once inside, we were greeted promptly by the store workers. The girl behind the counter gave us some good recommendations that we had to try. I had the Iced VTM (Vietnamese coffee) and the Chicken Banh Mi while my friend had the VTM Frappe (Blended Ice) with the Chicken sandwich. Both food items were really good. The banh mi had really refreshing pickled vegetables inside and the bread was nice and crispy. The coffee was also really good and not TOO strong and not too sweet, which was perfect. This is what happens when the new generation of entrepreneurs understands the needs of today's younger working class, and does their best to suffice their needs. Coffee. In Particular, Vietnamese Coffee. Strong. Bold. Sweet. But here? It's like they mix crack cocaine in their it's so addictive. Ranging from 4$-5$ for a 16/24oz of "VTM" Coffee (they have a lighter version too for those that are caffeine sensitive) this place is centered in the Google Plaza. Now I know google gives their own coffee in-house (as well as other snacks and goodies) But they don't have this. In fact, if Google doesn't have something with them right now, they are down right foolish, because these guys at BLK know wassup. The "baristas" and "cashiers" are all cool. They are friendly, aren't afraid to chop it up, and overall nice peoples. Don't forget they have a few sandwhiches on deck too. The Chicken Banh Mi is a little pricey compared to Westminster, but this is an upgraded version.... the Bread is soft yet crispy, ingredients are fresh, the chicken melted in my mouth!? what!? Has the right sour/pickle ratio. The only thing missing was the jalapeno.... but that's cool. ALL IN ALL, this is my new favorite coffee spot to grab "VTM" Coffee. We asked for extra hot and literally got luke warm. Good designs on the coffee but not especially great. The VTM coffee tastes like Costco Lee's Cafe Latte Concentrate but I would actually rate Costco's even better. I think this place is highly overrated. First off, I want to say that I want to give 5 stars because the Vietnamese iced coffee has the BEST coffee flavor than any other Vietnamese iced coffee that I ever had. That being said, there's simply too much ice and not enough coffee. Secondly, I was only the second person in line at 10:30 am and I ordered a bahn mi sandwich. I kid you not I waited 15 minutes for a sandwich because the guy making sandwiches had one speed-turtle mode. And my sandwich didn't even have all of the items on it! Two ways to improve: 1. This was my first time at BLKdot, and overall it was a good experience. I was happy (and excited) that they have lots of types of milk other than dairy. I got an iced white mocha with almond milk, and it's very tastey! As for the price, it's a little over priced, but I'm not going there every morning, so I don't mind paying $5+ for a 16 oz. mocha. The people that worked there were very helpful and nice. They give 1hr. validation which is nice, and he was immediate to ask if i didn't validation. Ventured out for coffee on a Saturday morning and it was pretty packed. The coffee was delicious although by the time I got it, it was on the lukewarm side. The ham and cheese croissant was nice, buttery and flavorful. Nice place to sit although space can be limited. They don't have a restroom on site but there is one in the next building. I had been wanting to come here for years, no excuse really since I live nearby. From what i remember, they weren't open on weekends before and close fairly early so I finally made it here Saturday morning and the coffee was just as delicious as I had hoped. I am a HUGE fan of Vietnamese Iced coffee, it is my daily go to, but here I would have to say the Mojito black coffee is even better! I purchased a VTM, LVTM (much better, less sweet and the same kick to it!) and the Mojito only due to it being half off with Yelp check in. Sure glad I did, after the first sip i did not want to put it down, so unique, so refreshing, I could drink this daily. Service is on point, so friendly and helpful, drinks made to order quickly, I sure am jealous of all those lucky people working next door at Google, I would be here every single morning. Very chill spot where you can get a good Chicken banh mi and coffee. I ordered my favorite mocha then sat and chilled for a few hours working on some projects. The WiFi was confusing at first but they are conveniently in the Google building so you can login easily. Since they're tucked away in between two corporate buildings it's hard to spot. Look for Equinox and they're right across the way from them. They get a pretty steady flow of clients and do validate parking. Pretty fast service too! read more

I'm SO glad I came across this Yelp page while looking for a new coffee spot. I came in with my fiance to grab a quick breakfast this past weekend. We ended up getting the thai tea latte, the VTM, and the Pig Out sandwich. I immediately fell in love with the thai tea latte - think of it is as a milkier, creamier thai tea. The VTM was also very tasty. We both loved the Pig Out bagel sandwich and it was the perfect amount for us to share. The staff was also very friendly and nice. Hands down the best Vietnamese Coffee anywhere. Annihilates Lee's, Banh Mi Cali, Linda's Sandwiches -all those other stores. It's really THAT good. PARKING: When going down Jamboree after getting off the 73, turn right into the Google plaza building and go straight towards the parking structure. Turn left after getting your ticket and there'll be parking spots reserved for BLK coffee. You'll see the signs. ACTUAL BLK COFFEE LOCATION: Just look at where people with coffee cups are walking out from! Kidding. BLK has its store name in big, block letters and with a steady stream of people leaving and entering the store, it's definitely hard to miss. Vietnamese Iced Coffee/VTM $5.50 for a Large: Deliciously potent. I have never been more awake. My eyes are wide open and my mind is functioning at optimal levels. It's also Day 2 of drinking leftover VTM and this stuff, man... Who needs anything else when you can get the perfectly legal stuff for a mere $5.50. On my quest for a new coffee shop to fill my heart and I eventually heard about this place. I decided to check it out on a Tuesday at 4pm to stay awake for traffic hour. Here's how my experience went: Ambiance Parking: *A bit confusing cause it's in a corporate setting but if your turn left on Jamboree you can make the immediate right turn and park to the parking structure. There should be plenty of parking but MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR TICKET VALIDATED Seating: *You have the choice of outside seating or inside seating. The sun can be pretty harsh depending on the season but if you're inside, they can close the blinds to provide shade. Feels: * It's a unique non-chain coffee shop in a corporate setting...the irony. If y'all been to Mick's Karma Bar, the setup is similar to that with less aesthetics but a calm and corporate environment. The coffee shop itself has pretty nice and simple aesthetics. Great place to study, catch up with a friend, for a more hidden yet calmer scene. Food: Vietnamese Coffee * This is some strong coffee. Too strong for my taste but don't hesitate to ask for more milk to sweeten it up. Customer Service: The servers were on point. They greeted me as I walked in and gave me a sample. I've been ordering BLK Dot for a couple weeks now and they do not disappoint! I usual go to is the Avocado Toast which I can have everyday if I could but I felt like trying something different - I definitely recommend the breakfast bun. It was spot on!!! This cafe has amazing service! Came here for the first time and when asking them about what they recommended, the employee offered samples for us to try their signature Vietnamese coffee. We ended up ordering the mint coffee and the sea salt coffee. The mint coffee was too sweet for my taste and has a ton of mint syrup in it - if you don't like that, remember to ask them to use less! The sea salt coffee was okay, but didn't have much of a salt taste and tasted more like a regular latte. I think next time I come in I'll stick with the signature Vietnamese coffee! It had some people studying, but there were still some small tables available. Outside seating available too. --AMBIANCE-- I really liked the relatively modern style it has; black and white. This cute little shop is tucked away in the business plaza next to the Google office building in Irvine. Parking may be difficult as a first time visitor, but there is a structure right opposite the shop. The sign says 1.75 per hour, but have no fear! The barista will validate your ticket for you! The Barista named Jonathan was really friendly. I used to work at a coffee shop myself, so it is always nice to see happy baristas who seem to like their job. :) I told him I was a first time customer and he was happy to guid me through the menu! My friend and I ordered... Vietnamese Coffee(VTM): I am a coffee lover and I found this way too rich for my taste but it seems to be a crowd favorite. Little tip.. you can get a light VTM if you want the same taste but just a little less strong. Thai Iced Tea: The barista said that this drink was also very popular and I see why! As opposed to some other Thai teas that over overly sweet, this drink was creamy and refreshing. There is very limited seating inside, so it took a little while for me to snag a table as soon as someone left, but there were a few tables outside for customers as well. Has to be one of my new favorite places to get coffee in Irvine. Friendly service, chill atmosphere, and amazing coffee. This spot can be a little tricky to find, as it is tucked by the side of the Google complex. Don't worry about paying for parking in the structure; BLK can give you a validation! Good for up to an hour. Inside, there's a decent amount of space for studying or catching up on work. Menu is all handwritten in chalk which is a nice touch, as is the wall with positive phrases and messages by customers. Very cool and I think this really represents the culture in SoCal in a good way. I sorta messed up by getting an iced americano in 24 oz size....that coffee is STRONG. I went to the new BLKdot Coffee stand at the VKCC office complex on Von Karman in Irvine. Pretty cool looking stand in an old freight car. I ordered a small black coffee and tried to carry it back to my office but the top did not fit properly and it leaked a lot so I threw it out. I called and reported and they apologized and made me a new one for me when I came by later in the day. I'm not a fan of Vietnamese coffee, but their regular coffee is very good. I never write reviews, but wanted to share one with the Black Dot team in hopes that they'd see it and consider making a change to their product. I love their coffee, and the staff/store is outstanding. The business has been a great asset to our north Laguna Beach neighborhood. If I could make a suggestion, it would be that they should invest in new coffee cups. Their cups are 1. too thin (even double cups are typically too hot to hold), and 2. they leak a lot (much more then a Starbucks cup for example), and it makes for a very sloppy drinking experience. PRO TIP: Can get your parking validation here! I've only been here a couple times, because my boyfriend works across at Equinox. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here since I am at Irvine Spectrum more often (new location). However, the coffee drinks here are pretty good and so are their toasts.
