This place had a pretty different vibe relative to a lot of other Charleston spots and felt much more casual, which I loved! I rarely leave reviews, but I feel a responsibility to share this experience for the safety of others. I visited this bar expecting a normal night out after a Christmas party with some coworkers. Instead, I had an extremely distressing and frightening experience involving staff intervention that left me shaken and unsafe. During my visit, one of the bouncers physically assaulted me. I left with visible bruises and was deeply shaken by how the situation was managed. What should have been a conversation instead escalated into something physically harmful. When I followed up afterward with law enforcement - I was told camera footage was obstructed and staff accounts conflicted with my own, leaving no accountability or resolution. I am not posting this to attack individual employees, but to highlight serious concerns about training, de-escalation practices, and patron safety. No one should leave a bar injured. I would urge others (especially women) to think carefully about whether this is a place they would feel safe if something went wrong. Regardless of differing perspectives, patrons should be able to expect: * Clear de-escalation practices * Transparent safety protocols * Protection of customer dignity in high-stress situations Unfortunately, that was not my experience. No reservations so had to sit outside but the weather was right and they have heat lamps so it was nice. But, I recommend reservations. I had the winter salad which was excellent. Light dressing, just enough sweetness. Mozzarella sticks for the table. Fat sticks and good sauce. My husband had the French onion soup and the Nashville hot honey fried chicken. What a fun and festive restaurant to get a group together for the holidays or to take a break from holiday shopping. I would say this was elevated pub food. Everything you'd expect at a pub but with a special flair. Our server was great and even showed us the how the pork rind starts out. It smelled inside, was incredibly crowded. We called ahead to reserve a table for a large group for happy hour. They took about 30 minutes after our reservation to get it together. Then, they told us that we had to leave our table if every single person in our group wasn't ordering entrees. We specifically stated that we were making a reservation for happy hour drinks. We tried to discuss if there was a cash amount we'd have to make to keep the table and they said, nope, everyone and entrees and that's it. This is such a unique and cool spot in Charleston -- a must visit if you're in the area! It's a super cool atmosphere with plenty of options for hanging out: inside, by the bar, outside, outside bar, patio... Somewhere for everybody! We usually just grab a couple drinks and keep our tab open at the bar; staff work hard and fast and we have had no issues. They make great cocktails and you won't be disappointed. *Disclaimer: the high noons are very expensive (just like most places in Charleston). The inside is a standard pub but the outside area is reminiscent of South Carolina and has cute charm. They are pet friendly. Our pups enjoyed the pup cups. We stopped in here after a haunted carriage ride. We were told it's haunted, but even with my taunting, no ghost accosted me. :/ We ordered some appetizers and desserts, which were all really good. Wow! Is all I have to say. Came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, first time in downtown Charleston. First off, it's in a great location. You can walk around to rainbow row or the beach if you want to after eating. And we did! Second, the outside area is georgous. Outside bae, waterfall, and a great covered patio dining area. Day visits and night visits are different experiences. Friday night was hot and happening. Our bartender was great! The customers at tge bar were friendly and we enjoyed talking with them. We moved outside to the back patio to see the old walls from the Revolution. We were soaking in the vibe then a rat ran across my husband's foot. We were finished with our drinks , so we left. Yesterday we were on two hour historical walking tour of Charleston. When that finished we made several other stops on our own. We happened to be at the Nathaniel Russell House when I asked a local for a good place for a beer and some French fries. He steered us here. And we were happy he did. Hubby & I moseyed up to the bar and sat down. It was Sunday Brunch. We each got a local draft beer and shared a fried chicken sandwich on a biscuit. The nice thing about sitting at the bar is striking up a conversation with fellow bar flies. Hubby saw the guy to his left down something. Turned out to be 100 proof schnapps. He ordered up one each for us. Whoa. It had a minty aftertaste. Was Rumple Minze. We had a nice afternoon sitting at the bar after a long morning on a guided walking tour. On a rainy Sunday after taking a tour my son brought us to Blind Tiger as he knew they would let us bring our dog onto this oh so quaint but expansive back patio. Even on a Sunday they were hopping. We started with the Tiger Cider (spiked apple cider) that was great for a rainy day. We had a half dozen oyster which was quickly followed by our main entres. I had Ricotta Gnocchi with Shrimp which was awesome and the sauce was perfect. My husband had the Shrimp and Grits which he devoured and my son had the Nashville hot chicken which he said was great too although he had wished for it to be spicier. For desert I had a peppermint expresso martini and my husband the Key Lime Pie and my son the Bread Pudding. Needless to say we were very full. As a side note we got a plain hamburger for the pup and they brought him a pup cup too. As we left wedding party arrived so it definitely has space. I have been traveling to Charleston for 12 years now to visit family. I have always stopped in to the Blind Tiger when I did. The last time was Monday April 6th and after that visit I will never patronize this establishment again. I stopped in to watch the NCAA basketball championship. I ordered a beer and paid cash the receipt said $7.77 when I got the change the bartender rounded up appearently no big deal not going to quibble about 23 cents. I order another beer and he did the same again no big deal. I started to talk to a couple of ladies that sat down next to me. I had put my 4 dollars in change from the 2 beers under my phone. I finished my beer and was going to leave a tip but when I picked up my phone the 4 dollars was gone. I had nobody sitting to my left because there was a pole on my left that separated the bar and there was nobody in the seat on the other side. That leads me to believe the bartender helped him setup that money while I was distracted. I am a retired private detective but I don't need to be a detective to know your bartender took the money. I hope that 4 dollars was worth loosing a long time customer. read more
