Came here on a Friday afternoon & had a bowl ofseafood gumbo, which I thought was delicious. I had two drinks, a stiff jack and coke & a can of something orange juice flavored called a " boy". Small restraunt, outdoor seating is available, full bar, and a small but satisfying menu. I almost got one of thier burgers from the kitchen, but I did not want a large meal. There were several people sitting at tables eating quietly on thier lunch break from work, but I chose to sit at the bar to order, eat my food, and have drinks. A few people came in and got some salads to go from the kitchen and went on thier way back to work. I noticed that there were stairs leading upstairs and I asked the bartenders about it, they told me that sometimes they have live music at night upstairs. I liked my food, my drinks were good, but I felt the bartenders/ wait staff were more interested in talking amoungst one another and not to me or any other customers, so I left. They seemed to keep busy, cutting up limes, counting thier tills, stocking thier bars, but I felt unwelcome, so I left. Its too bad because this seems like a neat place, its off the beaten path not on Dauphin street, so you kind of got to look for it. read more

Stopped in for brunch and it was a pretty cool place. Bottomless Mimosas for $10 during brunch. We wanted to have them filled a little more often but we got our money's worth. The server was great but all alone until noon on a day during Mardi Gras. She handles it as well as one can but needed help, for sure. The brunch menu is apparently ever-changing. On this visit, we had the shrimp and grits and the Charlie Brown hash browns. The shrimp and grits come in full and half sizes. I ordered the full and it didn't seem much larger than the half but was several dollars more. With that said, it was very good. It has Conecuh Sausage with shrimp, onions and cheese grits. The sauce was pretty spicy but it wasn't too much. Charlie Brown was cheese hash browns topped with chili and an egg! Epic. The Bloody Mary was amazing. Lots of veggies and great flavors. A diamond in the rough! Blind Mule is off the beaten path in downtown Mobile and came highly recommended by a local service station while I was waiting for car repairs over lunchtime. The super casual atmosphere is welcoming, the staff super friendly, and the food excellent. I mean, how many dive bars (and I mean that only in the most positive way), make their own dressing from scratch?! I thoroughly enjoyed my Greek salad with chicken. Between the food and quality of the service, I'm itching to go back, probably for one of their open mic comedy of trivia nights. I called before hand to see if they were busy and the lady said "no come on in it's dead!" So my family and I went for burgers yet when we arrived Their whole patio was full??? Lol and there were other tables with bored looks on their faces waiting to get their checks. Our waitress took forever just to bring our drinks, then after we ordered our food it took them FOREVER to bring the food out. We arrived at 8:15pm and we didn't get our food until 10pm!! My dad and brothers beers were warm and when they finally gave us our food they gave my dad the wrong burger and I got his. Unfortunately I didn't like the burger I ended up with so the waitress's solution was to take away my burger and wait an extra 30mins for the new burger to come out. Really??? So I would have to wait a total of almost 2 hours for to eat?? F that. They shouldn't have told me they were dead to begin with or we wouldnt have wasted our time with their for mediocre burgers. I couldn't even finish mine and everyone else only ate theirs cause we were starving. At it was literally 10 at night. Just terrible service. read more

Visiting Mobile for work and wanted to find a relatively quick, affordable sit-down. The Blind Mule is a neat little spot. Prices are very fair, portions are large, food is pretty good! I got the blue cheese fries along with the Texas Squealer and roasted vegetables on the side. Tons of food. The burger was great, loved the BBQ sauce on it. Roasted veggies were a little soft, but still tasty. The buffalo/blue cheese fries is a great choice (if you don't mind the calories!) I really enjoyed my visit. read more

I eat at the Blind Mule occasionally, and I've always had positive experiences. I'm a pastor, and I've taken colleagues on several occasions (including all of the pastors in my denomination along the AL and MS Gulf Coast) and everyone enjoyed the food and the environs. There are options for many palates, including healthy, various cuisines, and local. One of my favorites was a California Burger special, that featured bean sprouts and avocado. And, it's a nationally known bar. Woody Paige (from ESPN and the Denver Post) featured the Blind Mule in his column referencing Senior Bowl activities a few years ago. My wife and I need a place to eat and decompress after a long drive, and we got lucky finding the Blind Mule. The food was incredibly good, the server was a sweetheart, and it was a very laid back place to have a few drinks as well. We ended up eating here because our usual favorite when passing through Mobile was closed, and at first glacé I thought they might only have "bar food". Well, it is a bar, but the food was excellent. We had shrimp and grits, gumbo, a boudin wrap, and sweet potato fries. All were awesome. They had a cool selection of beers, and the local patrons were friendly and we had a few laughs while enjoying the atmosphere. Added bonus: there is some good looking art on the walls by a local artist. We want to come back and get one! Next time!! read more

What a great find! We found this place at random while driving from Vicksburg to Alabama. This was our second time here! A year ago, my husband and I split the buffalo turkey wrap. This year, we split the jalapeño burger. The burger was seasoned SO WELL, cooked perfectly, and the bun was also amazing! They also served cold (and well priced) beer. So disappointed! Sat at a dirty table for 20 minutes before anyone came over to clean it. Even then, no one talked to us. Waited longer and never received menus. All in all, heard one server say that she swore to God that she would be with us soon, but she has me doubting her faith and my own. Never ate there because of their inefficiency and poor management. The best burgers in Mobile. Salads are huge, fresh and the dressing is home made. Its a very cozy spot with local art hanging on the walls. There is a really nice courtyard. Live acts, bands and standup comedy upstairs some nights on the regular. The specials are always something to write home about and you can tell there is a certain love put into the food. Can't beat the Blind Mule chili. Whenever I'm in Mobile I make it a point to stop there. read more

Just went in for a burger and a beer. Cool place, kind of divey, in a good way, very friendly staff, all the bartenders and waitresses were cool. They seem to have lots of different beers and I saw a couple of fancy looking drinks on other tables, so it looks like they have a good variety of drinks. I asked if they would mind putting the basketball game on, and they were very accommodating. And then I ordered the Roll Tide hamburger. It was delicious! This is going to be one of your prime options if you are vegan. I am part-time myself, so it is always good to have accommodations at those times. The atmosphere is pretty laid back. In many ways it feels like past versions of Mobile, giving a sense of nostalgia, so it is important to check out this place when you are passing through if you want a bigger picture on Mobile metro art culture. Definitely a good place to try routinely as there are menu changes every-so-often. There is draft, like many bars in Mobile. The beer culture is healthy here, meaning that you are welcome to drink to your hearts content and not feel like unseemly, and yet at the same time it is not a place that requires you drink either. It strikes a very comfortable balance. I would definitely say it is comfortable. It is like a coffee house in some sense. I recall the comfort I felt when I would sit on the patio with my laptop and work. Good service even out there, so don't be worried. Plus the bar does service too, so if you really want you can order drinks from the bar. read more

First visit based on Yelp recommendation and we were not disappointed. Haley the young manager was terrific - we called her Haley in charge! The facility whom old was clean and comfortable. Beer selection was terrific and cold. We had the hand breaded mozz sticks - outstanding. I had the shrimp and grits and again outstanding and my son enjoyed his chicken sandwich with delicious fries. Spending a day in Mobile led us to a great little place - The Blind Mule. We visited in the middle of the afternoon for a late lunch. Local artwork abounds on all the walls as soon as you walk in the door. Options of both outdoor and indoor seating is available. There was an option to text a message and get a free appetizer, so we took advantage of this and enjoyed chips and fresh salsa. Each in our party partook in something different from the menu - a chili cheeseburger, a pimento bacon cheeseburger, a boudin wrap, a Texas Squealer burger, and a jalapeño cheddar burger. The portions were so huge, I truly wondered if my teenagers' jaws would open wide enough to fit it all in! I'm sure the place is hoppin' for drinks and music in the evenings. Our waitress, though busy, was attentive enough for our needs. We enjoyed this off-the-beaten path place enough that we bought a T-shirt and will be sure to come back when in the area. read more
