Delicious food and McKenzie handled our large group perfectly! Will definitely be back!

Food was delicious! Chandriama was an excellent server!!! Highly recommend Blind Box BBQ

Step up I tried a few BBQ places while in town and Blind Box gets the pick as my favorite. I tried the meat platter and was not disappointed. The portion size was huge but I couldn't leave any behind - it didn't feel like someone was weighing every scrap of meat back in the kitchen while plating. Pix of their carrot cake looked so good I had to take a "slice" to-go -- one of the best cake's I've had. I dropped a star because I was less impressed with the sauce offerings. read more

I want to go back! It was delicious! I was able to try this restaurant recently and I really enjoyed it. I loved the nachos during happy hour and tried one of their cocktails which was tasty! I don't normally devour nachos but I couldn't stop eating these! The wontons were pretty good, I also loved the burnt ends! I didn't think the Mac and cheese was anything special and if you love the flavor of bourbon, you would enjoy the baked beans. The potato salad was tasty, very different than traditional. Service was good and very industrial vibe which was nice, I hope to sit in their outdoor area next time! It looked beautiful read more

The BBQ wontons were so good! I had the Mac & cheese w pulled pork. The pulled pork was good but the Mac & cheese was nothing special...like a box mix not being special. The sweet bbq sauce was really good. The bourbon baked beans were outstanding. read more

I LOVE me some Blind Box BBQ! I'm there at least once, if not twice a week and love to bring in newbies! I highly recommend their BBQ wontons & BBQ nachos along with their other combo platters (seriously their burnt ends are drool worthy). They also have the best cocktails in the area! I'm a sucker for their Fashionista & other whiskey drinks. The staff is another reason I LOVE coming in. Kristal & Zach will treat you like royalty and the place is always clean. I haven't ventured out much during COVID times and have no fear going to Blind Box BBQ because I know they are following protocols and doing their best during this time. If you're anywhere near the Shawnee area you must stop in- even if only for a cocktail & app! I swear you'll be hooked! read more

Blind Box BBQ - Fashionista - Barbeque Near Me - Shawnee, Kansas

In a town of outstanding BBQ, you need to be distinctive to stand apart. Unfortunately, Blind Box BBQ was merely good, and so doesn't quite make top grades. Our server: didn't introduce herself, didn't know what bourbon was used in the happy hour special, we didn't get silverware until after the apps were served and we had to ask for them, she brought an array of sauces and didn't explain what they were until she was walking away and we had to ask her, didn't know how the free carrot cake cupcake worked that's listed in the menu, told us that the burnt ends were pork and they are beef, and didn't know that the cheesecake on the menu was no longer being served. The food was good - the brisket and burnt ends were good but a little on on the dry side. The Mexican Street corn had a nice flavor but not great. The flavors overall were good. All in all, good but not great. The smoked Old Fashioned was good. Since 3 of our table of 5 are not from the area, we will use our future times in town at other BBQ places they truly bring it. read more

BBQ was good, had the Tuesday special (pit mix) didn't realize it was a sandwich, doesn't specify on the menu. The food was decent for a quick lunch in Shawnee but the staff was pretty underrated. Our waiter forgot to put in appetizers for the table (there was 6 of us having an office lunch) then after he realized he forgot them it was time to place our orders, he got a few orders wrong, didn't give proper info when being asked about the food, and took a long time to come to us once we got our food (delivered by someone else) even though we were missing some items. Overall the experience was kind of muddled by it, especially being a birthday lunch, but the food was decent enough to cover any sour mood read more

Nick at the bar was great! recommended a delicious drink, The southpaw! 10/10 would drink again.

Great service and food I really like the atmosphere of this place it is very good. And also a few carrot cake to leave a review.

Restaurant week they have specials that are supposed to feed 2 people for $40, not true. It was only enough for one person.

The entrance doesn't really accommodate for a dinner rush as it was crowded with our group of four and a couple others, and had to wait about 15 minutes for our table after our reservation time. The menu and food were all fine. The food came out super fast too which was nice. The server was neglectful of our table, though. She seemed to check on every table but ours. We didn't get our drinks until getting up and asking her while she was at another table that was right next to ours and this was after we already had our appetizers and entrees in front of us. She was going around refilling others' drinks while we still didn't have ours. There was no manager in sight to discuss the issues with. The terrible service ruined the experience and won't return. read more

Chandrama. a was fabulous! she made the best meal recommendations! love restaurant week menu!

Great food, excellent service. Nick was excellent. Jake was trying hard to be like Nick.

I got recommend this from a friend and was pleasantly surprised. The food was presented with lettuce just like a blind box would be presented. The food was tender and the cheesy corn was amazing. Service was helpful and recommended a few things such as the bbq wontons that were actually great. When we went they had a brunch buffet going on but we opted not to join. The place Is cramped and small leave not much space to be comfortable. Overall 8/10 would try again. read more

Was my first time there and everything was great. Ordered carry out and I really enjoyed the friendly staff.

A group of about 20 decended about 1130 at reserved tables. Wait staff was excellent. We never had a dry glass. Order was taken quickly and food was out expeditiously. I got the Podium Platter. Burnt ends and brisket was teriffic. Beans were very good. Tea was very good also. We will definitely visit again. Again Emma was a great server. Folks don't miss this place. JB read more

Blind Box catered our 60th anniversary celebration party. The comments from our guests included "the best brisket they have ever had". That is why I hired them. Our family had used Blind Box in the past and it was the best. Personally, I have never hired a caterer. I was a little nervous about doing this by myself. Andrew was great, gave me confidence from the start. He was there for me from the start. He set up the serving table beautifully. I could not be happier. read more

Hot day after golf and we needed a drink fast!! SIL suggested Blind Box and can I say BEST DECISION EVER?!! Long Islands served just as ordered. Food great as usual. But what really made it great was the attentiveness of the bartender West. That's why Blind Box is our go to for food and service. read more

In the land of BBQ giants, this entire meal didn't even light a spark. Lunch on a Saturday, with the sun shining on the patio, we were looking forward to some yummy food. Sadly, our meat lacked flavor and chewed more like jerky. The fries were unseasoned and dripping with grease. The smoked potato salad was a bowl of flavorless mush. Did we complain? No, that would've required a server to attend to us. Will we return? No way! I like to stuff myself with worthy calories. What's really sad is the first couple of times eating here, I would've totally given this place a four or five. Wonder what happened since our last visit?! read more

Not the best experience today. Made a reservation (12:30) in advance for Restaurant Week. My son was on-call and might need to leave at a moments notice so time was of the essence you could say. We were sat at 1:07. Server was a little slow getting to our table, not a big deal if it was the only deal on this visit. After 30ish minutes of waiting for our meals to come out we kindly asked the server how much longer. He came back with our plates a short moment later. Makes me think I should have asked sooner. One was incorrect, not at all what was ordered. Another 10 mins for the incorrect order to be corrected. There is more I could say about my experience today but I'll leave it here. Blind Box isn't in my neighborhood so no real loss for them or us. We won't likely go back. Pro: burnt ends were good, smoked prime rib available for brunch was excellent, as were the pretzel bites w/ queso. read more

Blind Box is our favorite BBQ place in town. Fabulous ribs, burnt ends, smoked chicken, but especially several of their sides are out of this world--best potato salad either of us have had, ever; superlative corn bake, and the baked beans resplendent with smoked pork are also to die for. And don't get me started in their carrot cake cupcakes, which are the best!! I would skip their mac and cheese, which is thoroughly boring. And the coleslaw isn't the typical creamy style I prefer. But otherwise, everything we have had here, coming many times over the last few years, is top notch. read more

As usual. Great Q and great service. Like the cheesy corn bake And smoked potato salad. Not too loud like a lot of restaurants

You said to give it another try and we did. We gave this place a second chance and the second time was worse...cold food, horrible and slow service, didn't get our drinks we ordered and was still charged. The bartender seemed too busy flirting with the old men then to make and drinks. Not sure where the manager was because we asked for one twice. We will not be back. We will stick with a local BBQ...this seems to be a fast food franchise like BBQ read more

A cool place to stop and get some barbecue. My boyfriend and I decided to stop here for a spontaneous lunch break after seeing it on yelp. Where the restaurant is located, it's almost like hidden right in plain sight, and I can't believe I had passed this place after being in the area for multiple years ! The restaurant has a very rustic vibe to it and is kept very clean. Our waiter was very kind and had a lot of knowledge of the menu. Our food came out shortly after, and looked delicious. The barbecue was good, the only thing I wish they had was more sauces! Besides that our visit here went well and we enjoyed the atmosphere of the place while indulged in a good meal. Oh and if you like sweet potato fries- order them here. They have some of the best I've had ! read more

Went here with my buddy who lives close by and recommended it. Well it did not live up to recommendations this evening unfortunately. We started withe BBQ nachos which looked amazing but they were not hot and just lackluster taste. Service and ambience were great so they did have that going so that was nice! The main course i ordered their 3 meat combo and the burnt tips were so dry, the sausage was good but not tons of flavor, and the ribs were dry to. You could tell this was old meat. Sorry to say they were stretching their meat out longer than they should have or someone ruined that round of meat for the day. Super dry. read more

Just dropping my original 5-star review to 3. I really want to like them because they are not a chain, but haven't been so impressed over the past couple years of going about once every 4 months. I keep giving them another shot but it is time I face reality that they aren't what they used to be. Reasons include the following, contrary to my original review. 1) Every time I've gotten the pulled pork over the past couple years there has been a mouth full of fat, which pretty much kills my appetite. 2) the fries they do these days don't seem to be the fresh ones anymore. 3) flavor seems to have changed, EVERYTHING has an overbearing smoke flavor (meat, BBQ sauce, beans, potato salad)...the lingering aftertaste (or smell on my fingers) isn't a good one. Hoping they turn things around, but will be at least 6+ months before I consider trying again. read more

Blind Box BBQ - Fat in pulled pork. - Barbeque Near Me - Shawnee, Kansas

I've been wanting to try Blind Box BBQ for quite some time now and we finally had the opportunity to give their Sunday Brunch a shot! I noticed they opened at 9am and we arrived around 10am. We were one of the first tables to be sat. After realizing they had a brunch buffet, I was super excited. Our friend started off by ordering herself bottomless mimosas then we were ready to start at the buffet. They had a cart full of silverware, napkins and plates to grab before dishing out all the food. I noticed the top two plates were dirty to I lifted them up to see if the others were dirty. Every single place was dirty. It was like they had never been washed. They all had food stuck on them. I went to tell one of the servers and they took them all away and brought some new bowls. I already had kind of a meh feeling after seeing the plates. Next, we started dishing out our food and we sat down. They had a variety of dishes. Everything from burnt end mac and cheese to French toast sticks. Twenty minutes past and we finished our first plate and we still hadn't received the mimosa. We had to ask someone else who delivered one of our other entrees we ordered because our waiter was no where to be found. We had to ask for water refills several times. The one thing we were super disappointed with is that the food was cold. All of it. We didn't have a single piece of food that was warm. I guess I should expect this from a buffet.. but they had just opened not even an hour ago. As we were checking out, we handed our waiter our credit cards to pay our bill. As he was running our cards, he told us how he used to accidently run peoples cards for the wrong amounts all the time. This made us feel beyond uncomfortable as he was running our cards. I really wanted to love this place but I really don't think we will back. There are plenty of other great BBQ places in KC with much better service. read more

Growing up in KC, I am REALLY picky about my BBQ. I am a jack stack girl through and through with the occasional stop at sneads. We decided to try this place out on a whim and were very much impressed!! The atmosphere is rustic and relaxed. It can be both casual and also a date night kind of place. The staff was very friendly and prompt with a ton of suggestions, which helps. Anyway, the food was amazing!! We had bbq chips app which was delicious!! The ribs were fall off the bone and melt in your mouth. The brisket was tender and just enough flavorful fat. The burnt ends were good, but I prefer Snead's in that regard. Definitely check this place out though! You won't regret it. read more

Stopped in here for my son's birthday lunch. We had heard a lot of good things about it. And they were all true. Inside it's a nice cozy kind of environment with friendly service. The food came quickly after we ordered (which is good when you have kiddos with you). And ALL of the food was fantastic. The price is great. And the quality is even better. I had the Combo #1. It was fantastic! The burnt ends and ribs were super tender and the sausage was delicious. Everything smoked exactly the way it should be with bbq. The mac & cheese and cheesy corn bake were also delicious. My son had wings and my daughter had chicken tenders. They loved them and they were of fantastic quality. Definitely recommend this place to any one!!! read more

So overall pretty good bbq. Got the combo #1 with 3 meats and 2 sides. Let's start with the sides. Smoked Potato Salad... Hands down one of the best I've ever had. Also got the Sweet Potato Fries which are pretty good too. Now the meats... Smoked Brisket was a little dry for me. Decent smoke ring, generally good flavor but I asked for moist brisket and it was definitely not moist. Had to use the bbq sauce. Ribs, these weren't fall off the bone, but they had a good flavor, a little on the sweeter side though in case you're not into that. Last the Burnt Ends, these were more to my liking. Felt more like I was eating moist brisket with these, definitely by far the best meat on my plate. I would surely go back and try some of their smoked sausage and chicken so looking forward to that but I will make sure burnt ends and smoked potato salad is on my plate too. read more
