    Inside the Aztec

The Aztec theater has been beautifully renovated, and is very retro and cool! It's a perfect venue for smaller concerts. The theater-type seating is very comfortable and gives pretty much everyone a good view. If you pay for the VIP area at the back, just know you will be as far as possible from the bands, but there are tables and chairs there, so you can more comfortably eat and drink. All the regular seats have cupholders, but your lap is your table! You can bring in food from anywhere, but they ask that you purchase your beverages from them. That includes water, soda pop, several delicious specialty alcoholic drinks, and other cocktails. Their website has a list of which food truck will be outside on any given weekend. Inside the theater they sell various kinds of bagged popcorn, kettle corn, etc., and the usual movie-theater candies and snacks. There's lots of free available parking, including a big lot behind the theater, the city lot across the street, and street parking. This was once a movie theater, but it's now a great, somewhat intimate concert venue.

Gotta get back in tiiiiimmmmee! What a gem of a venue! We came to see our friends band Trash Night & this was our first time at this theatre. They have a great bar, some snacks, and you can order food from McClain's delivered to the theatre. They have bands as well as old fashioned movies. If you haven't been to Shawnee in awhile you will be blown away by how many new restaurants and bars in town.

    Amazing venue for concerts!

What an incredible gift this theater is to our community. After spending three years remodeling the Aztec, it is finally open, and it offers one of the most intimate venues in Kansas City. The seats are comfy and large, the prices are great, the employees are fantastic, and the movies and artists they're bringing in are diverse and fun. Follow the Aztec on social media and give this place a try. It's absolutely worth visiting. We will definitely be back!

The place was fairly crowded and noisy at 6pm on a Saturday. The drinks were priced well and our waitress was awesome. We ordered a side of fries to get some food in our belly and we certainly won't make that mistake again - processed mashed potatoes formed into fat spiral shapes are not French Fries!!! My only complaint. After the concert we crossed back over the tracks and paid $5 cover charge for more drinks and to listen to Dating Sarah - fantastic cover band that had the place rocking at 10pm. We stayed for 2 sets and had a great time. I really liked the old school dive bar vibe in an old building that seemed out of place for Johnson County's upper middle class suburban aesthetic. A repeat return for all my future Green Guitar events and maybe some pizza next time - and for the love of god Jerry, get a new french fry distributor.

It's a great place to bring people from out of town to truly get a taste of local KC. This is certainly not a chain restaurant. GGFH books touring acts from around the nation and usually pairs them with amazing talent from the region. It is a great listening room with a good sound system and acoustics, and seating is available for a couple hundred; soft drinks, beer and wine are available. Last night I witnessed longtime Kansas City artist Two Headed Cow open for an amazing duo out of Nashville - A Tale of Two (check them out if you like great storytelling, 5 star resonator guitar playing and a jazz vocalist doing overtime in the blues and folk world). I have also seen great artists in the past such as Victor and Penny, Rupert Wates, Chuck Brodsky, Danny Schmidt.... A perfect space to become intimate with a favorite artist or discover something new. The ability to meet and chat with the artists is always available at the intermissions and post show. Bring some cash to tip the opening act and take home some merchandise to further support the artists. The organizer Mike and his volunteer crew are providing KC a great service by bringing in the type of artist that usually has trouble booking these types of midsize gigs that are not in a noisy bar. We are lucky to have such a program here in town. Worthy of support from anyone that values live music.

The space is smallish but they do have bar seating in addition to seating throughout. The service was friendly and the drinks were great. They don't offer food, but they do offer cocktails, beer, wine, and mocktails. I went on a Sunday and they have a special menu called "Almost Monday." It's a smaller, simpler cocktail menu and the prices are very fair compared to other cocktail spots. I tried the Caipirinha (pineapple) and the Negroni sour. Both were good. My favorite between the two was the Negroni. It had a pretty color and wasn't too sour or strong. I'd def recommend it and get it again. Definitely stop in and check out this cute spot in Shawnee.

When you arrive there is parallel parking available outside the bar. When you walk in you'll feel like your bright, vibrant, and feels incredibly welcoming. Also, they have some really fun drinks as well that have been thoughtfully put together. We ended up sitting at the bar and I started with the Reformed Porn Star (vanilla vodka, bronson's tropical milk punch, passion fruit, Prosecco, citric acid and popping boba) which was by far my favorite drink and felt like I could have drank a couple more of these. Second I tried the Neo Cosmo (white rum, strawberry, cacao, coconut, rose hip, lime, bubble) which was good and was a fun drink with an ice cream shaped cup and a bubble on the top (meant to look like an ice cream cone). If you are in the area, this bar is a must try, the bartenders were awesome and took good care of us. Between the creative cocktails, fun atmosphere, unique floral setting, this was a memorable experience I'd definitely return for.
