There is plenty of seating in the 3 main rooms for guests and the decor is absolutely adorable. Lauri has everything so well organized and meets her guest at the venue before "checking in". The space can be rented either the entire day or for 1 of the 2 shifts (we rented 3pm-8pm). I would highly recommend this space for small parties in the Overland Park area!

These people put on a front that they are going to help you through everything and be so helpful and they are just there to make sure that everything goes smooth for us. Which felt like a lie to us after everything was over. There were so many red flags that we had and if we hadn't paid so much money for them, we would have walked away. They never tried to set up any of the meetings for the food tasting or decorations, I had to reach out to them. They were very pushy about their DJ and were rude to ours when we didn't choose theirs. There were probably ten of our guests that have told me stories about how they were rude to them! They told us that we would do the final billing the night of and if we had more people we would pay and if we had less they would refund us. But then Cindy was extremely rude to my mother who paid for the whole thing. and told her she doesn't know who told her that but she's not getting any of her money back. for one reason or another. But they went too far by calling me (the bride) the night before my wedding while I am sitting at dinner with my family, asking for more money. I could go on and on about things that bothered me but it doesn't change anything. I don't normally put reviews about things up. But these people were so extremely unprofessional with our reception. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

But..... you have to experience it with a docent to get the full effect. If you poke around by yourself, it may seem unimpressive. There is a farmstead onsite, with a chicken coop. The staff searched the agricultural schedule in the 1920's census to determine what type of chicken was raised in this area during that time. Then they procured that breed! Historic, heirloom chickens! I would never have learned this just by moseying around by myself. So let the docents treat you to the incredible nuances at the museum. The fact it is so hands on makes it such an incredible educational experience. The prices are very cheap for a 45m tour and deep explanation of the various buildings and items in those buildings. I wish more places were set up like this were kids can actually see, reenact, and learn about historic life. All the staff was very friendly and we really enjoyed our tour guide! This place is an absolute must if you love history and you want an amazing educational experience for your kids!

The coordinator at Little Shawnee Chapel was an absolute gem. The staff here was very helpful, they were there when you needed them, but not so much that they were in your face all the time. Perfect balance. I had some burnt ends, and they were tasty. I expected to load up on those for the evening, but I decided to try the famous Kansas City rubs I had heard so much about. BAM! I get it now! These ribs put every BBQ rib I have had before now to shame. My tastebuds now understand what ribs should taste like. It was a magical cross between perfection and awesome. Getting married! No! Not me... been there/done that!…read more I have some friends that are stepping up to have their nuptials. And this is the place. I cannot stress enough how open this place is. And by open... yes it used to be a theater that they have reset into a venue! They have remodeled the projection booth to be the mens and brides rooms... yes I said mens and brides... you are only a groom while you are standing up front... the rest of the time you are one of the guys. The wedding hasn't taken place yet (i'll update after that) but I did meet the owner. She was extremely helpful and willing to make small alterations to the existing packages to ensure that all needs are met. If you are having an event with less than 200 people go check this place out! It is new and has great access. There is no smoking deck/lounge so I would say that is the only draw back however peeps should be able to go a few hours without.

It's a great place to bring people from out of town to truly get a taste of local KC. This is certainly not a chain restaurant. The pizza is delicious and the service is exactly what you'd expect from a great dive bar. Definitely check it out sometime!
