So we have been coming here for a couple years and the quality used to be extremely high. However the past 2 trips we've made the food was, nothing to get excited about. Our server brought us our appetizers with no napkins or silverware and then disappeared- the onion rings weren't drained and the plate was DROWNED in grease. Our most recent visit they were out of baby back ribs (which is understandable) they were subbed with spare ribs. The spare ribs were a nightmare. Filled with gelatinous bones that the meat would not come off of- taking a bite of soft bone accidentally is the most disgusting thing. I couldn't even finish the ribs and neither did my friend whom also got the ribs. My favorite side Mac n cheese was cold and tasted like velveeta- it's extremely disappointing- This was our favorite bbq place and it's gone down hill extremely. Whatever you do DO NOT order the spare ribs it's entirely gelatinous bones- and the few bites of meat you do manage to pry off that isn't fat or cartilage- is over cooked and chewy. Probably won't be recommending this place to anyone anymore. I don't like playing "will the food be good this time" this place used to be extremely consistent. What we just had was not only expensive but luke warm-dry- and down right sad. I wish I could get my money back- we were so excited to show our friends this place and it was embarrassing to have this sub par dry cold food come out. I got maybe 3-4 bites of dry meat off my ribs that I had to spit back into a napkin. The rest of the fat and cartilage was left on the plate. Thanks for taking our money and serving us velveeta and dog chews. read more

Blind Box BBQ - I hope you don't like eating your ribs because they are filled with these disgusting soft cartilage bones that you can't pull out. - Barbeque Near Me - Shawnee, Kansas

Service was slow and sad when your appetizer shows up just a few minutes before the entree. Husband had #1 combo...sausage bland, rest okay I had pull pork sandwich.....tasted just like the chicken wings that arrived a few minutes before my sandwich. Cole slaw dry, tasteless....why is there cheese in my potato salad? First time there....and the last. read more

Blind Box BBQ - Burnt Ends with Cheesy Corn - Barbeque Near Me - Shawnee, Kansas

As a KC native, Blind Box has the best pulled pork and sweet bbq sauce. Service is great, even with people on their first days (shoutout Chad)! This place is my go to suggestion for an out of towner looking for good bbq. read more

Good food and great service. Like pre Covid days. We ordered what our server recommeded

Food & service is great! Kendrix was a great waiter! The burnt ends and brisket was tasty as well as the sides onion straws and coleslaw!

Excellent bbq and prompt friendly service. Big patio - they welcomed our dog with a bowl of water. Great selection of local beer. We had a salad w blue cheese and burnt ends, plus a plate of ribs, pork and sausage. Three kinds of sauce - house, sweet, and sirracha honey. Lovely couch search near an outdoor fire. All around A+ read more

I'd start off being saying my girlfriend and I have been coming to blind-box for the past few months and the food is always excellent. Alongside the food the overall atmosphere of the place is amazing. The lighting is great and it feels really homey. The service has never let us down either, tonight we had a server named Mackenzie, she stayed on top of everything making sure that our experience was as great as it could be. If you're looking for good BBQ at a reasonable price check out Blind-Box! read more

We drove by Blind Box and decided to order for pick up. The ribs were good. The beans were awful. They tasted like they poured a ton of smoke on them. They were not edible at all. The corn was also not good. It was liquid and we couldn't make out the taste. Unfortunately, the brisket was fatty and not tender. We wouldn't recommend this place for sides. At least not the ones we tried. read more

New Tuesday lunch special spot! I got the Pit Mix, burnt ends and rib meat... on a sandwich! Absolutely loved it. The bun was almost flaky like a croissant, but not too much, yet had sesame seeds. The bbq sauce is sweat. Blind box is now the closest barbecue to me now that I moved out to West Shawnee. And it has quickly become one of my favorite spots to go around town. read more

We drove 8 hours through the blizzard with Blind Box as our final stop, they did not disappoint! We had the combo no. 2 and it could have fed four of us but the two of us made good work of it. Kyra and Amanda greeted us with smiles and chats even though it's a freezing day and everywhere else is closed. There was nobody else in the restaurant yet it felt welcoming and relaxing. The ambiance matches the quality of the food. First time trying bbq and the bar has been set high! Thank you all from us tired travellers! read more

My wife either loves me more than I could have ever guessed....or she is hoping to cash that life insurance check sometime soon. She might even have a strange fetish because I look a little like the mascot on Blind Box's sign. Perhaps this is an indictment on how shallow I am. If I had a spouse in my state of fitness, I would suggest a vegan restaurant or a salad. It was my wife's idea to eat at Blind Box. I did not fight this suggestion. When my eyes lit up seeing both the Chicken Philly and Nachos on the menu - it was my wife's suggestion to get both and split them. I did not fight this suggestion. It was my wife's suggestion to get coleslaw so she could eat like a proper human and I could consume more nachos. I did not fight this suggestion. I am a supportive husband after all. The pictures of the food make it look good - the food was even better! The service and atmosphere was great! My wife and I will return until the insurance check clears. Once she trains a new man she can start the process over. Side note: she thought the coleslaw was excellent as well. Who cares? Meat and cheese!! read more

Brunch menu has lots of choices. We sat on the patio which had a great breeze, fans, and service was very quickly, knowledgeable, and nice! Breakfast tacos were a large portion and delicious. Menu says fries, but it comes with breakfast potatoes which was a pleasant surprise. 9/10 would recommend. Brisket gravy- "If you love brisket your going to love this. 8/10 would recommend"- husband Thanks for great service Zachary! read more

I was expecting more with all of the great reviews. I'll start with the good the burnt ends were moist and flavorful, corn bake and fries were awesome. The bad my son ordered a cheeseburger and it was spongy and pretty gross. He took two bites and couldn't eat any more. I typically never say anything but it was inedible and the waiter was kind enough to take it off of our bill. Needless to say my son left hungry. The brisket was also very dry and not much flavor. read more

Six years later, I thought we should give this place another try. My feelings haven't changed much. The food LOOKED delicious but the meat lacked flavor (SALT particularly). I asked for some hot BBQ sauce and they brought me a fruity syrup type concoction that was okay but not BBQ-ish in the slightest, more like hot wing sauce. The sausage was very mushy. Things I liked: Fries, they are advertised as hand cut. I have my doubts. Corn casserole, very delicous, well-seasoned. Would go back to get that To-Go. I originally ordered cole slaw and asked if it had celery seed in it. She didn't know, but didn't "think so". I told her I would get cole slaw, but if it had celery seed in it, I wasn't going to eat it/pay for it. She had little response, but did come back later and tell me that it did have celery seed so I was able to change my order. One server kept running her hands through her ponytail and digging in her ears with her fingers. Another was carrying around a tissue dabbing her face, at first I thought she was wiping her nose, but I think she was dabbing sweat, still a little gross. Someone from out of the area was eating at the table next to us. He took a phone call and told the caller he was eating Burnt Ends at a local restaurant. I can only imagine the person asked what Burnt Ends were because he said "It's something that they are known for around here. It's kind of just like pot roast." Well, the sad thing is, now that guy thinks burnt ends are like pot roast because that's what theirs are like. Flavorless, sad little greasy beef chunks with no flavor of rub, no cooked on yummy bark. Just little cubes of flakey meat. Poor guy, I wanted to correct him and tell him to go to some place better before he defamed Burnt Ends to all the world. read more

Went to blond box, we had such a great experience. The food was very good and our waitress. Mackenzie was awesome.

The food was great and our server McKenzie was a kind server! Would definitely come back again.

Amazing! Don't pass this place up if you are in the KC area! Reservations were easy to make and we were seated promptly. Becky was out server and she was fantastic. We got a chip platter to try all the sauces (complimentary) and the hot one was my favorite!. Not one in our party could find point out anything they didn't like. We will be back next time we pass through! read more

Delicious food and fast service! Get in before the March Menu is gone if you are a corned beef fan!

If you're looking for atmosphere, this isn't the place -- it's tucked inside a large furniture store. I hadn't even tried the food yet, but my experience was already soured by the customer service. I paid $25 for a plate and was denied a large cup for water. At that point, it didn't matter how good the food was -- the lack of basic courtesy left a bad taste before I even took a bite. I hope the cost of that cup was worth losing a customer. read more

oh my, had happy hour/dinner yesterday and what a great experience! The beer was ice cold and the service was great too. I had the platter with burnt ends baby back ribs and smoked sausage, it came with potato salad and pickles and onions on the side, I think it was $21.00. My wife had the burnt end mac and cheese, and she loved it. We were givin a carrot cake cupcake as a treat. We sat on the patio which had many fans and was very comfortable on a very hot day, cant wait to go back and highly reccomend it. read more

This place is amazing! Fall off the bone ribs, the corn was amazing! Brisket was tender and packed full of flavor with an awesome smoke ring. The BBQ sauce is thinner than normal KC BBQ sauce (vinegar based) but still very good. Highly recommend this place. read more

Great bbq. Reason I didn't get it a 5 star is the prices a little high for what you get. I guess I have to remember inflation nowadays.

Amazing food. The brisket melted in my mouth. The service was great. Try the carrot cake, it will change your life,!!
