Best sandwich shop! The people there are quick, friendly, and make a great sandwich every time. Free cookies on Monday.

Really like Blimpie's bread and subs. Better than Subway. There appears to be new ownership as the workers are much friendlier than before.

O'brien's Deli & Burgers - Irish reuben

O'brien's Deli & Burgers

I saw Jayson D's review of this place and it looked so good that I went the very same day. I love a…read moregood deli, so I'm happy I got the inspiration to stop in. When I walked in, the place was packed. It's a small space, and it was bustling around 1 pm. I was noticed by a kind employee who let me sit at a cozy booth. The menu is huge and includes tons of sandwiches, burgers, wraps, and salads. It was tough to choose but I went with the Irish reuben (grilled pastrami, corned beef, bacon, sauerkraut, swiss cheese, thousand island on marble rye). Sandwiches come with chips, or you can upgrade to fries (regular, sweet potato, or Southwestern dipping fries) - I went with the Southwestern dipping fries, which are seasoned potato wedges. My food came out quickly and I was amazed at the large portions. It was a full basket of fries and a sandwich that would equal two full sandwiches elsewhere. The sandwich was super hot and delicious and packed with meat. I think it's one of the tastiest reubens I've had in awhile. The fries were good, but I think I prefer regular fries. Glad I got to try them, though. They have a daily special where a specific item is discounted, which makes it an affordable option for lunch. I was there on a Tuesday so the special was a spicy fried chicken sandwich or wrap for $12 served with chips or fries. That's a great deal! I will definitely be back for one of their specials. The employees I interacted with were all very friendly and kind and working really hard. I always appreciate good customer service and I found that here. Finally, they serve beer and wine, so if you want a drink with lunch, that is an option as well. The only downside is the small dining area, so I wouldn't say it's great for large groups, and they are only open Monday through Friday for lunch. Luckily I have a flexible schedule, so I'll be back for lunch again soon!

Spacious parking outside. I tried their hot pastrami sammy. The pastrami was sliced against the grain to make it easy to bite, and it tasted perfectly pastrami-y--that signature smoky briny taste, but it wasn't too salty. The portion was enormous! Half an O'brien's sammy would have been the full order anywhere else. There's even a little buddy-sized sink and a tiny toilet in the men's bathroom! Popular with locals and it's easy to see why.

Service is prompt, and the bartenders know their shizz. If you want Grey Goose you can have it. If well liquor suits you, there's no snobby pushback. Just settle in and sip what does you. Check out the nightly meal specials. The Wednesday night braised short ribs and the wedge salad (get the full, it's beautiful) are winners. Love the ambiance. Bring a date or sit solo at the bar and chat up the passers-through.

I had heard that this place had good food, but because the price point was a bit higher than average, I wanted to try it for myself before bringing my family. The service was attentive and friendly. The food, however, did not meet expectations. I found the deviled eggs to be overcooked and a bit rubbery while simultaneously lacking flavor. The presentation was nice but I care more about the taste than how it looks. The Tavern Smash Burger does not seem to know what it wants to be. The patties were thicker than a traditional smash burger, lacking the juiciness of a regular burger while also missing the caramelization of your typical smash patty. The accompanying "Chef's Sauce" for the burger was not particularly flavorful and there was not enough acidic content to counter the fattiness of the burger. The bacon that topped the burger was cubed pieces that were chewy and frankly off-putting, and I found myself wishing for crispy bacon strips instead. All in all, I really wanted to love this place, but I just don't. The food wasn't terrible, but also nowhere near good enough to justify the cost or make me want to stop back in.
