I've gone to the downtown deli for over 20 years and it's been my favorite deli ever since. However I recently heard that the Ada Grill version has a very good burger. So I ordered the Cowboy Burger ($16). This has two 4 oz burger patties grilled, topped with cheddar cheese, bacon, haystack onions & bbq sauce. It was very good. For Local-ish Burgers it just cracks my top 10. It come with chips, but I upgraded to fries ($3.5). They definitely aren't worth an additional almost 4 dollars. They are good, but also nothing special. I also ordered my favorite deli sandwich of the Phil J ($15.50) to go. It was as good as the downtown location, however I felt ripped off. There was about half the normal chicken salad on it. Also the chips don't travel well if you're refrigerating it for later. The service was excellent. Very friendly and provided quality service. Overall a 4 1/2 star review. Since I have to round, it becomes a 4 due to the small amount of meat on the deli sandwich. Would I return? Overall for the deli side I'll probably stick with downtown location, however for a good dinner yes I would come back.

Both sandwiches were stuffed with plenty of meat. One was on the gluten free bread. And the bread actually had good flavor but was literally dripping with butter. Way too much butter. The other sandwich had no issues and was delicious as usual. The pickles were all very soggy and not that great this time. Overall, they were great! It was our first time trying the gluten free bread but next time I would tell them to lighten up on the butter. Otherwise, I will be coming back to try more. I am glad they came to Grand Rapids.

The burger came in about 20 min after ordering as a solo. The burger tasted very good, bacon was super tasty, and the burger was very big and juicy, you could easily have leftovers. The only downside to the Kevin Malone is that they use spinach instead of like a chopped lettuce for the burrito and the texture is a little overpowering. Plus, they don't chop the stems off the spinach, so I'd either order it without or pick some pieces out. I feel like the Brunchwrap has a thicker layer of it and as much as mixing in a green is smart, it has to be prepped properly in my opinion. Patatas bravas as a side were fire. The potatoes were roasted and seasoned well. It advertised a garlic aioli, but we did not get that. As with San Chez's patatas bravas, ask for the sauce on the side. It is a very good side of potatoes compared to the thinly, oddly sliced potato slices that came with the breakfast sandwich. They looked like apple slices and were sort of wet and soggy like them too. Nitpicking their spinach prep and refining their side dish of potatoes are really the only notes if someone from Mudpenny is actually reading this and got this far. The only downside to this restaurant was the heat, it almost felt like there was no air conditioning. I will say there are tons of windows and nice natural light, so that could be the culprit. They do have a nice patio if the weather is right, unfortunately when I was there the smoke was considered hazardous, so eating inside was the best option.
