Swing and a miss. First time trying Mr. Burger and went through the drive through on 44th Street. Helpful person took our order; two deluxe dbl cheeseburgers, one order each of fries and onion rings. The only reason I knew about this special olive burger was from a yelp! review. I ordered the Mr. O which you will not find on the menu. You'll find an olive burger, but not the Mr. O. Now I have to order the olive burger to compare. My daughter got a burger as well and we also ordered fries which were super hot--they must've just pulled them right out of the fryer. We went through the drive thru this time. I know Mr. Burger is about more than burgers, but on my way home I just kept thinking, "you can't call yourself Mr. Burger and not make a darn good burger." The one thing I appreciate and look forward to is their consistency. No matter what location you go to, the grilled cheese is the same at each. Delicious. My favorite dine IN meal is the shrimp dinner! I love the old school vibe - it hasn't changed since I can remember. It's always clean and well kept. They have specials and occasional menu updates, but the menu remains mostly untouched. Love the fresh pies, salads, cookies, and sides you can grab on the way to the register! A note on COVID procedure - they no longer offer you trays to grab. They give them to you. You can take a bottle of ketchup or choose packets. They also have tables blocked so you are spread out. Dined here with my son and felt very comfortable as staff had masks and gloves on, and someone cleaning/ sanitizing. if you want a good, old school, diner feel - Mr Burger NEVER disappoints! read more

We've gone through the drive thru at this location, six times now, not once has our order been correct. We try and try to be transparent when ordering, and specific, and it's never been correct. Mr. Burger is such a classic staple in the Standale area. As a kid, I really enjoyed the times that my parents or a friends parents would take us there for lunch or dinner. The place really has an old fashioned, classic atmosphere and the Mr. Burger combo meal is such a great comfort meal. I agree with others that it's a little expensive for fast food, but if I'm looking for an on-the-go meal in Standale, this is the place I'm going to choose. I'd take quality over price any day. To be honest, I haven't gotten anything from the menu besides the classic Mr. Burger combo meal since I was a kid. The Mr. Burger combo comes with a drink and fries, and the burger itself is a double cheeseburger with all the works, including their own special sauce. The burgers are juicy and delicious, and taste much better than an average burger from a fast food joint. I've also tried the shakes on a few occasions, and those are always pretty great too. The one complaint I would have is that sometimes the food is just a little bit too greasy, and sometimes the burgers are put together really sloppily. However, we have gotten wrong orders so frequently through the drive-thru, we are now giving up and won't be returning. Tonight the order of a turkey sandwich with no mayo on wheat (confirmed twice) became a fish sandwich with tartar sauce on wheat. How can you even confuse the two? There is something special about this place and either you get it or you don't. Yes, you have to wait in line for your order like you did in middle school. Yep, it sure is greasy and probably not very healthy. The majority of the customers are retirement age. But, this is why I love it. When I walk in it feels like I'm going back in time, and yet I imagine myself here when I'm in my 60's sippin some coffee and talking about the Detroit Tigers with an old buddy of mine. How many places give you that kind of feel these days? I personally go for the Mr. Burger Double Bacon Deluxe. Oh man does that hit the spot! It is my once a month fix on pure greasy heaven. Mr Burger is a mainstay but I think without loyal patrons willing to look past the decline in quality it would have folded years ago. Many years ago the food and quality of ingredients were great...not any longer. My guess is they now use grade d meat and the cheapest of ingredients. I believe the second generation of ownership now is running the place and trying to line their pockets with profits rather than maintain the restaurants, update them and keeping meals of better quality. The burgers are now thin and tasteless, fries are cooked in grease that is probably weeks old and the staff is fairly absent (probably because they're being treated like dirt). So often we want dinner for breakfast and there aren't that many places that offer this at such a great price other than Mr. Burger. Their food is really homey, solid comfort food. It allows me to rest these little pillows of happiness atop my hash browns while the yolks gently ooze out of their soft white borders and bathe the soft, creamy, crunchy-edged hash brown potatoes in a lucious yellow blanket of yummy goodness. Their ham, bacon and sausage is expertly cooked as are their fluffy pancakes! Breakfast is a dream at Mr. Burger! I also truly enjoy their burgers, too! My favorite burger is the Cheeseburger Deluxe because not only is the burger cooked perfectly and the cheese is melted as it should be, but they add this large slice of tomato on to that takes this sandwich into the burger stratosphere!!!! I also love the pork tenderloin sandwich and a host of others too numerous to mention! We'd be here forever! And their fries?!? Possibly the best fries in Grand Rapids!
